Really didn't want to use the word 'bad' Sad

DP's darling sister uploaded photos of her 9~ month old in McDonald's eating fries and chicken nuggets.

We KNOW junk food is bad, why give it to such a young baby? Why give it to your child at all?!

OP posts:

I hardly think a nine month old is going to eat a whole happy meal! Probably a couple of chips and a nugget if that.

WorraLiberty · 30/08/2014 21:08

I absolutely love McDonalds and have it about every 4 to 6 weeks

I just can't get het up about a parent choosing to give their baby a few nuggets and fries now and then.

Mainly because for every finger you point at a parent, you may well find 3 or 4 pointing back at you.

The baby was hungry and the baby got fed. That's the end of it unless the OP is going to massively drip feed about a regularly shit diet.

HaroldLloyd · 30/08/2014 21:08

It's 1g it is. I expect he just gummed a few chips and nugs.

It's not ideal grub but I've gone there in a pinch and at services.

It's not all that different to the stuff dished up in pubs etc.

WarblingOyster · 30/08/2014 21:09

YANBU. My 14mo has had one happy meal and I have royally fucked up. As I type this, I am sat outside of McDonald's whilst she scales the walls and doors trying to find a way in. She is truly hooked, keeps screeching 'chips motherfucker, give me chips' Shock

For the record, my DD loves fruit and veg, she isn't hooked on junk because of McDonald's Hmm

DancingDinosaur · 30/08/2014 21:09

Maybe she asked for no salt. Dh always does. Think they get cooked separately.
Or maybe she opted for salt and she's a dreadful mother who should have her baby taken away, especially as she tried so hard to have one in the first place yet. Have you called ssd yet? If not you should. Right Now.

CleoBrown · 30/08/2014 21:11

Grin warbling

HaroldLloyd · 30/08/2014 21:12

DS is upstairs cuddling nuggets Sad

WorraLiberty · 30/08/2014 21:12

Maybe she sucked the salt off each individual french fry before giving them to the baby? Grin

I'm laughing but I saw this once with my own eyes Shock

EarthWindFire · 30/08/2014 21:13

Silver - it's unhealthy, why give your baby unhealthy things? Why give your kids bad habits? Obesity and health issues in the UK have been rising, diabetes and heart disease and so on. Seems like a disadvantage to get babies hooked on stuff like that at all.

You could always give them fruit which is also 'nice'.

Or OP you could try lightening up a bit? I hardly think they would have wolfed down a Happy Meal!

Sirzy · 30/08/2014 21:14

I will ask again those who are so appauled at the idea of a child having a happy meal would you never serve your children chicken nuggets and chips at home? or buy them one in a restaurant?

I am no McDonalds fan but it seems the word McDonalds makes some people look down their noses makes some people think bad without stopping to think

sillystring · 30/08/2014 21:14

thought this thread would be interesting. Sadly mistaken.

CleoBrown · 30/08/2014 21:15

Before MN (those dark times) I probably would have been all judgy about this and other similar things, but honestly after reading so many other (very reasonable) reasons why it's not the end of the world I've changed and become so much more laid back. I now don't honestly rush to judge on one incident (or even 5) and I wasn't that judgmental before.

I'm telling you it's made my life a nicer place OP, you should try it, deep breaths and just let live.

Shriek at the clown baby, shuddersome

As an aside I saw a laydee clown in full regalia in the co op the other weekend. Urghhhh. Scary

ILovePud · 30/08/2014 21:18

Oh sillystring how can you not be interested in a thread which has a picture of a baby made up like Ronald McDonald in it! Your heart is dead Grin that's been the highlight of my Saturday night.

HavanaSlife · 30/08/2014 21:19

I bet the child didnt even eat it, and you bringing her fertility issues into it makes you sound like a twat

BobPatandIgglePiggle · 30/08/2014 21:20

Do you have children op?

MrsCurrent · 30/08/2014 21:22

Really? This actually bothers you? Oh dear. Got pics of ds1 eating Pizza Hut in Cyprus at 8mo as in that moment it was a fun treat. As a healthy 10yo he will eat anything; meat, veg, salad, fruit and is fit and healthy. Sounds like they've done it as a novelty too, why the heck not, doesn't sound like they're regularly sticking pics on of the child eating greggs!

treaclesoda · 30/08/2014 21:22

I used to be a bit up my own arse about this sort of stuff too. Then I got my head out of my arse and stopped being so judgey when I realised that despite not being a junk food fiend I do plenty of other things with my own dc that people get all sniffy and horrified about. So, y ' know, judge not lest ye be judged.

MrsCurrent · 30/08/2014 21:24

Ah we have done that 'sucking salt off a McD chip' crap though, forgot about that!

Purplepoodle · 30/08/2014 21:25

I would be pulling my judgy pants up too. Dh is terrible for feeding dc3 (just turned 1) crap when he takes other older dc to macdonalds (I hate the place).

Xmasbaby11 · 30/08/2014 21:30

I would judge too, because it is so salty.

Janethegirl · 30/08/2014 21:33

I hate McDs with a vengeance but my DH and Ds eat them on a very irregular basis. Dd and myself never. But there is no way I'd feed a very young child that crap.Confused

ArsenicyOldFace · 30/08/2014 21:36

I bet you're a laugh at parties OP

everydayvalue · 30/08/2014 21:38
