I had that reaction to negy (negative) when I heard it on Made in Chelsea

ICanSeeTheSun · 27/08/2014 00:19

Yolo why hate a word. :p

JustDontWantToSay · 27/08/2014 00:19

Lord. NO.

You know what makes it worse?? She's a bestselling author - and undoubtedly the worst culprit for these words. I will NEVER buy her books.

OP posts:
thatthingonyournose · 27/08/2014 00:20

Most people use those words ironically

JustDontWantToSay · 27/08/2014 00:20

Because ICan - it's a total and unnecessary bastardisation of the English language!!

OP posts:
steff13 · 27/08/2014 00:21

I'm cringe at "rellies," "pressies," "sammies," etc.

I've never heard "emosh" or "appaz," but I agree about "totes" and "amazeballs.".

MardyBra · 27/08/2014 00:22

"Yolo why hate a word."

I hate yolo. Because I'm not 14.

MardyBra · 27/08/2014 00:23

I don't even know what emosh means.

JustDontWantToSay · 27/08/2014 00:23

thatthing - not the ones I've seen using.

OP posts:
Dontgotosleep · 27/08/2014 00:23

I agree O.P. Those words are so cringeworthy. I hate Whatevs for whatever and fucking detest spag bol for spaghetti bolognaise.
Why don't people write/talk properly.

temporaryusername · 27/08/2014 00:23

You're right, so naff. Yanbu. 'Appaz'? Shock God help us.

Language is always evolving, but these are just sick-making. Even if used ironically.

MardyBra · 27/08/2014 00:24

You need to avoid anyone under 30 OP.

temporaryusername · 27/08/2014 00:24

Ah now, I might stick up for spag bol Wink.

Username12345 · 27/08/2014 00:24

Yolo why hate a word. :p

That is lyk so rasist to people who believes in re-incarnations.

Dontgotosleep · 27/08/2014 00:25

Mardi. I think emosh means emotional.

steff13 · 27/08/2014 00:25

There's a mom at my sons' taekwando school who drives a giant Lexus SUV with a vanity plate that says "YOLO." Hmm

MardyBra · 27/08/2014 00:26

Thanks don't.

JustDontWantToSay · 27/08/2014 00:26

Steff - no. PLEASE??

OP posts:
MardyBra · 27/08/2014 00:27

It took me about three years to work out what "natch" meant. Although to be fair I didn't give it a lot of thought.

JustDontWantToSay · 27/08/2014 00:28

Lol username :) Everyone should stop being rasist.

OP posts:
steff13 · 27/08/2014 00:28

I assume that's what she has to tell herself to keep from having a nervous breakdown every month when she makes the zillion dollar payment. Wink.

JustDontWantToSay · 27/08/2014 00:29

What does 'natch' mean?? I'm 31 by the way.

OP posts:
MardyBra · 27/08/2014 00:29

Personally I'm not a fan if "lol" either. Especially when used as punctuation.

McBear · 27/08/2014 00:29

So what's natch? Appaz. I actually laughed out loud at that. Head flung back and everything.

ICanSeeTheSun · 27/08/2014 00:30

I wasn't being serious :s
