LiberalLibertines · 27/08/2014 10:12

Pudcat how do you cope with MN if you hate the word fuck?

TillHammerZeit · 27/08/2014 10:15

Execution should be mandatory for people who use the following words/phrases...

Preggers
Bubs
Tommy K
Pots
Spaghetti bol
Om nom nom
Toms
Eats
Slap up meal
Holibobs
Crimbo

murphys · 27/08/2014 10:20

For those of you who are ex-South African or have been to SA, this one is my ultimate annoyance:

When invited to a braai (bbq), the host says "Bring a tjop n dop"

A tjop would be meat (is in some chops, ribs etc) and the dop is your drinks.

I have no problem supplying my own meat and drinks, but I would rather they say "bring along whatever you would like to braai, and your drinks" Wink.

SuburbanRhonda · 27/08/2014 10:22

I had a serious meeting with a previous boss.

At the end she said, "Are we ok? It's just I don't want there to be an atmos."

She also used to say "asap" as an actually word, rather than A-S-A-P.

SuburbanRhonda · 27/08/2014 10:23

*actual

akwardsazzle · 27/08/2014 10:38

your all just well jel of their use of slang. innit.

TheWildOnes · 27/08/2014 10:41

I made my 7 year old DS walk up a hill yesterday, when he got to the top he whined "this is so not totes amaze balls!" I have no idea where it came from.

JustDontWantToSay · 27/08/2014 10:45

Oh God, oh God, oh God - I'd forgotten some of the worst offenders. I'm sitting here cringing away from the screen.

Holibobs. Crimbo. Jacket pots and picky bits!

I think my absolute, all-time worst though is "om nom nom" Angry
Or just "nom". Angry That gives me the rage. I quite loathe that saying too.

GlaceDragonflies · 27/08/2014 10:48

Just I hate ONN as well, almost as much as I hate "good to go"

fourforksache · 27/08/2014 10:54

Handbags, what is tix?

Showy, eugh!!! Grin Picky bits makes me nauseous.

To all the "fuck" haterz - Tevs. Wink

Kimaroo · 27/08/2014 10:55

I'll take your Tommy K and raise you Maccy Ds. Both make me want to scream. But on the other hand I use tomoz, soz, lol and lots of others so I can't complain.

ICanSeeTheSun · 27/08/2014 10:59

The only thing that sets me off mumbling under my breath is KK. It is the same number of letters as OK.

JustDontWantToSay · 27/08/2014 11:00

Tix=tickets.

Strangely, things like soz don't bother me??? I think it's because they've been around longer so repeated exposure has dulled my response.

I wonder what the very worst sentence that we could construct could be...? Showy has it at the moment Smile

OP posts:
JustDontWantToSay · 27/08/2014 11:01

Oh and what does YY mean? My 12yo uses it all the time.

OP posts:
tinklykeys · 27/08/2014 11:12

I think these are all fine when they are clearly tongue in cheek a la Miranda..I don't think I know anyone irl who would say these genuinely with no trace of irony. Although I do have at least one friend who uses 'text' in a way that makes my skin crawl...

'I text u earlier'

It's textED for crying out loud!

curiousgeorgie · 27/08/2014 11:18

I love amazeballs. But I like to split it into two very precise words.

I'm 31 Blush

Curlyweasel · 27/08/2014 11:32

I too would stand up for spag bol too - it's not half as arse-clenchingly awful as some of those you've posted.

I have no idea what YOLO means Blush.

Think natch comes from Polari slang. My family seem to use a lot of Polari words - lallies (legs), natch , bona (good), naff (bad) and others - no idea why...

futret · 27/08/2014 11:34

Scorchio ......aaaargh

DisgruntledAardvark · 27/08/2014 11:39

I know it's not a made up word as such, but hearing/reading/being within 100 miles of someone even thinking the phrase 'dippy egg' makes me feel nauseous.

MonkeyGoneToHeaven · 27/08/2014 11:40

In the last couple of months I have noticed the proliferation of 'hacks'. As in '20 life hacks to drink more water!' 'Six life hacks to improve your party!' I know it comes from computing originally and it should have bloody well stayed there. Awful, loathsome phrase.

educatingarti · 27/08/2014 11:52

Ok - my worst phrase is "expiration date". What is wrong with expiry? It is even shorter!

WhoeverYouWantMeToBe · 27/08/2014 11:55

Arghh I hate Chrimbo or even Xmas, it's CHRISTMAS!!
Amaze/amazeballs.
Awesomesauce.
Awesomeness
YOLO - I don't even know what it means Blush
Chillaxing
Lolz
My bad
Whatevs
Anywho
Par-tay
