To be jealous of the Beckhams?!

Right. I'm a huge Wimbledon fan. I've camped out, queued up, gone into the Ballot every year trying to get tickets (been successful twice in about 30 years) and yet I've just seen the Beckhams arrive for the Mens Final.

VB is all dolled up like she's on the catwalk, DB is suited and booted and they have one of the best seats in the house. Is this fair? Nope. Because real tennis fans can't get to see the sport they love. I'd think far more of them if just occasionally they donated their special seats to a Tennis Club so a real fan me could fulfil their dream of seeing the Mens Final.

I know 'money talks' but even if I had the money I still couldn't get to the Mens Finals because I'm not famous. Angry

Rant over.

I'm not AIBU am I....or am I?!

I thought he was in Harrogate for the T de F

PeoplesFrontOfJudea · 06/07/2014 13:30

Loads of the tickets go to corporate clients who stay for a couple of hours and then their seats are left empty for much of the day. That's just as depressing. At least VB et al seem to stay for most of the day.

ilovesooty · 06/07/2014 13:31

They might be genuine fans, and they will hardly be the only VIP s there.

MrsHoolie · 06/07/2014 13:31

Yanbu

Lilaclily · 06/07/2014 13:32

I'm sure they spend a fortune while they're there though
When I go I smuggle in my own strawberries

maudpringles · 06/07/2014 13:32

Yanbu, makes me mad too.

cheekygeeky · 06/07/2014 13:33

No yanbu. I'm sick of seeing Beckham at every British sport or national event. You've fucked off to America so bloody well stay there. They must get pretty tired of carting brand Beckham all over the world.

BigBoobiedBertha · 06/07/2014 13:36

Don't know about VB but DB has already been in the last 2 weeks. I would think he is a fan to go more than once. As a sportsman himself he probably a fan of most sports.

I am sure there are plenty of less deserving types like minor royals who have less 'right' to be there.

YABU.

ilovesooty · 06/07/2014 13:37

He represented his country at a national sport for years. I don't see why he shouldn't attend sporting events. Are people resentful of the other well known people who get tickets?

PrayersDoGetAnswered · 06/07/2014 13:37

I would not want to be VB. The only good part of her life sems to be her children/parents and siblings. I would hate all that pressure of the press, fashion world and a husband who was not always faithful aledgedly.

hashtagwhatever · 06/07/2014 13:38

How do you know they aren't genuine fans??

Eastwickwitch · 06/07/2014 13:38

I went to Wimbledon last week & TBH none of the people in the Royal Box looked like they were having fun. that wasn't me ogling Rupert Penry-Jones, oh no. It was all polite clapping, no gasping or squealing.
Plus, you won't get to see the great shots again on slo mo.
Think of the £200 you've saved & settle down on the sofa with some Pimms.

ICanSeeTheSun · 06/07/2014 13:40

A least you are not Kate Middleton, the faces she was pulling :)

If I was rich and famous I think I would pull some strings to go to places I wanted.

FrankelandFilly · 06/07/2014 13:42

I doubt he's purchased tickets. He's probably in the Royal Box which is invitation only so he's not doing anyone out of a seat.

ghostisonthecanvas · 06/07/2014 13:47

We don't know if they are genuine fans. FWIW, I would take advantage of my fame to get to wimbledon. So I am no better than them Grin

scottishmummy · 06/07/2014 13:47

schlebs they get perks and freebies, and turn up at events

Lilaclily · 06/07/2014 13:49

I like Victoria she's composed, isn't trashy and looks great

Bowlersarm · 06/07/2014 13:55

YABU.

No reason at all they shouldn't accept tickets/take up an offer to be there. None at all.

SignYourName · 06/07/2014 13:57

David Beckham and Andy Murray have worked together as ambassadors for a anti-malaria charity, and DB took Brooklyn along to Wimbledon in 2010 to cheer Murray on.

He was at Wimbledon last weekend too with his mum, and attended the US Open last year.

I think it adds up to someone who is more of a tennis fan than many people who take up their seats in the Royal Box (which would never be offered to the (wo)man in the street anyway).

LucyStafford · 06/07/2014 13:58

Perk of the job.

Brooklyn has a Saturday job in a London caff

They're salt of the earth don't you know

I'd be more inclined to question why Sir Chris Hoy isn't up in Yorkshire supporting the Tour de France rather than taking up some tennis fan's seat at Wimbledon...
