To be jealous of the Beckhams?!

Right. I'm a huge Wimbledon fan. I've camped out, queued up, gone into the Ballot every year trying to get tickets (been successful twice in about 30 years) and yet I've just seen the Beckhams arrive for the Mens Final.

VB is all dolled up like she's on the catwalk, DB is suited and booted and they have one of the best seats in the house. Is this fair? Nope. Because real tennis fans can't get to see the sport they love. I'd think far more of them if just occasionally they donated their special seats to a Tennis Club so a real fan me could fulfil their dream of seeing the Mens Final.

I know 'money talks' but even if I had the money I still couldn't get to the Mens Finals because I'm not famous. Angry

Rant over.

I'm not AIBU am I....or am I?!

To be fair, I suppose if they sat in ordinary seats, they might be a bit mobbed. And constantly asked for autographs. That wouldnt work too.

LucyStafford · 06/07/2014 14:59

I love her poker face. She knows what she's doing. Anyone that much in the public could not have a perma grin.
Anyone that does has got to be strange.

TheSpottedZebra · 06/07/2014 14:59

I tell you who's there that I can't bloody stand - that Thor's wife. She's there with Thor, obvs.

Roussette · 06/07/2014 15:00

Thanks silveroldie and yes I shall apply again for next year like I do every year! The excitement is stupendous when I actually have won tickets and that envelope arrives. I nearly passed out last time Grin

At least in the cheap seats you wouldn't have to risk being seated next to Sir Cliff.

I went to Wimbledon once as a corporate guest. It was a fantastic seat on the net line. I think it'd surprise us just how many seats on centre court are debenture seats held by large corporations for entertaining clients.

settingsitting · 06/07/2014 15:02

It wouldnt surprise me after the olympics ticketing fiasco.

Roussette · 06/07/2014 15:02

God yes, Cliff. It might rain and he might sing. That'd cure my love of Wimbledon!

OP posts:
TSSDNCOP · 06/07/2014 15:03

It's worse though at Wimbledon as the seating is so limited. At least for an Olympic stadium you can argue you've got twenty thousand seats to fill.

Roussette · 06/07/2014 15:04

Who is Thor? (being a bit dim here...)

SuburbanRhonda · 06/07/2014 15:05

I'm always amazed at how many MNers actually have an opinion about the Beckhams.

Hmm
TSSDNCOP · 06/07/2014 15:05

Exactly OP every cloud.

Talking of shoes did you see what the preserved in aspic ever-youthful Sir C had on his plates?

Chris Hemsworth OP.

Cliff, maybe his last Wimbledon.

TheSpottedZebra · 06/07/2014 15:07

Thor is Chris Hemsworth, Aussie actor who plays Thor in the film, Thor. And plays Thor in some other films too (specific).
He is big and beefy and has babies and carries them around in his hand, and some people love it. All well and good.

But his wife is dreadful.

mumofthemonsters808 · 06/07/2014 15:07

If you are a huge tennis fan I can imagine this would sting, there are a host of celebrities who pop up, some would even go to the opening of an envelope.

scottishmummy · 06/07/2014 15:07

Why the humphy faceHmm?its a discussion forum, vexed opinions on everything

TheSpottedZebra · 06/07/2014 15:08

Last, Prayers ?
As in pearly gates, or locked doors?

londonrach · 06/07/2014 15:08

I found getting the Olympic tickets are easy to get and cheap. Went to 5 events about £20 each including the travel card. Bought all a couple of days before. Tbh I think the beck hams should be allowed their tickets as he has represented the uk on the world stage. I was lucky enough to go to queens this year (2nd in queue) and it was amazing but you see more on your own sofa. Am enjoying the final as I type. Not sure who I want to win...... That first set tie breaker was amazing tennis... (Pims anyone...)

OwlCapone · 06/07/2014 15:08

...and they have one of the best seats in the house.

At least they are sharing a seat between them and thus only depriving one "real tennis fan" from watching.

PrayersDoGetAnswered · 06/07/2014 15:08

All I will say is he is of a certain generation and has Sir before his name Wink

TheSpottedZebra · 06/07/2014 15:10

Is that Kinnock there?
Keep that red flag flying, Neil.

Roussette · 06/07/2014 15:10

TSS Agree with the twat bit!

Prayers have you heard what I have re Cliff?!

OP posts:
Roussette · 06/07/2014 15:11

Oh flippin' eck don't say Neil Kinnock is there as well. He could have given me his seat too.

PrayersDoGetAnswered · 06/07/2014 15:12

I don't know what you heard about Peter Pan, why was he given that name? I will see see what happens there.

SignYourName · 06/07/2014 15:13

No, Centre Court is safe. The roof is the antidote to Cliff.
