To be jealous of the Beckhams?!

Right. I'm a huge Wimbledon fan. I've camped out, queued up, gone into the Ballot every year trying to get tickets (been successful twice in about 30 years) and yet I've just seen the Beckhams arrive for the Mens Final.

VB is all dolled up like she's on the catwalk, DB is suited and booted and they have one of the best seats in the house. Is this fair? Nope. Because real tennis fans can't get to see the sport they love. I'd think far more of them if just occasionally they donated their special seats to a Tennis Club so a real fan me could fulfil their dream of seeing the Mens Final.

I know 'money talks' but even if I had the money I still couldn't get to the Mens Finals because I'm not famous. Angry

Rant over.

I'm not AIBU am I....or am I?!

Never heard of Chris Hemsworth but I obviously don't like him because he is sitting in my seat today Grin

They both make me cringe so in my book YABU Confused.

God Andrew Castle does talk bollocks sometimes.

Quote - "Centre Court has the loudest silence of any sporting venue".

Who are you rooting for OP.

I'm Team Rog Tennis

Roussette · 06/07/2014 15:25

I really really like them both - true gentleman of their sport I think (I'm sounding stuffy now!)

I just loved it when Djokovic gave that point away in a needle match last week so I am sort of erring on his side if I had to choose Smile

What are you bringing tennis chat to this thread for? Grin

Look - the Mr and Mrs, and Pippa Middleton (+boyf) are also there. But they don't get to sit with busy Kate'n'Wills, they are distinctly 2nd tier in the box. Do they get to talk at these things do you think?

XiX · 06/07/2014 15:30

I have non discriminatory bitterness. I'm jealous and bitter about everyone who is at Wimbledon.

PrayersDoGetAnswered · 06/07/2014 15:30

I thought that odd too Zebra, why are the Middleton family not all sitting together?

Roussette · 06/07/2014 15:31

VB looks bored stiff Grin

DB was just shown on TV ....he was looking at his phone. Angry

OP YANBU!

Cocolepew · 06/07/2014 15:32

Was it last year the Beckhams were there and all VB did was fiddle with her hair and pose? She looked very uncomfortable.

Roussette · 06/07/2014 15:32

XiX A gal after my own heart. Thank you. You have described it perfectly.

I have my SAE and envelope ready for 2015 Wimbledon to be posted on 1st August as normal.

I always think Pa Middleton looks like he knows how to have a laugh too.

Roussette · 06/07/2014 15:35

Perhaps I can apply to be a ballboy. Anyone know the age limit?!

Eastwickwitch · 06/07/2014 15:37

rousette Ball kid now. Only if you suit purple & green Grin

Eastwiththem · 06/07/2014 15:38

Wimbledon is actually a popular topic amongst economics academics as tickets are much cheaper and accessible to 'real fans' than many other high profile events. By allocating tickets through ballots or queueing you put an obstacle to attendance that can't be overcome through having more money. They could easy charge 3 or 4 times what they do and still sell out, but it would all be corporate tickets who would not turn up on a work day or wander off to the hospitality bar after an hour.

BIL got tickets to one of the quarter finals on centre court this year by queueing for a return. Got a debenture seat with an amazing view for a very reasonable price. Hence why Wimbledon is always packed with a good atmosphere while other sporting events seem totally dead.

londonrach · 06/07/2014 15:39

They very evenly matched.... I like fed as he such a gentleman who he has won before so maybe it's djo turn... Now if Murray was playing....

Roussette · 06/07/2014 15:41

Ball kid?! The world's gone mad I tell yer...

OP posts:
Roussette · 06/07/2014 15:42

East yes I think you are totally right about how it is the people's sporting event. I have queued before but I live too far away now to do that so I just send off the envelope every year and live in hope.

I've been a bit distracted by Mrs federers ginormous diamonds. Everytime I see her her diamonds have increased in size. I think the heart shaped stone on her necklace might be a single mega-carat jobby.

Roussette · 06/07/2014 15:44

Prhaps it's a pressie for having the twins. Must see it!

(come on Novak.... )

Coco 'all VB did was fiddle with her hair and pose' ??
You could be describing Kate Middleton there too.

SignYourName · 06/07/2014 15:47

Team Fed!

LaurieFairyCake · 06/07/2014 15:47

Bollocks is it better at home Grin

I watched Andy win the Olympics, I've seen dozens of matches up to the quarter finals.

Best day out ever - and fucking cheap in comparison to anything else - cheaper than Alton Towers/Thorpe Park

It's the dogs nuts

I'd love to be there today - and not just to perve over Bradley
