I know I am not BU. I am going to post it back to Sun HQ in an unstamped envelope ( will probably tear it into pieces before I do). Who will join me?

It is not that 'donkey's ago'. The Sun are not sending any to Liverpool for that very reason. The whole country, bar Liverpool. (I haven't had one yet and I am not in Liverpool)

RedToothBrush · 12/06/2014 17:48

Did you miss the bit I said about the public enquiry and the timing?

The event may have been 25 years ago and their coverage may have been a long time ago, but the reason why we are having the public enquiry now has a lot to do with the way The Sun and others handled it in the past.

The public enquiry is very current and is stirring up memories.

FreudiansSlipper · 12/06/2014 17:51

good idea Bourdic

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 12/06/2014 18:18

Love the making art idea. Almost makes me sad that wales are missing out. Almost.

I'd decorate my mobility scooter, kidnapping style lettering "i am a lazy scrounger"

FiveExclamations · 12/06/2014 18:27

Rather than struggle to jam the whole thing into the small envelopes we have we've decided to post it back page by page.

TheresAlwaysLegoInMyPocket · 12/06/2014 19:06

If you haven't had one yet, you may get it tomorrow, as we have to deliver them over two days. Sorry.

KERALA1 · 12/06/2014 19:17

Ours has just been delivered! Wtf. The Sun in my house

Placed immediately in the rabbits cage to be wee'd on. Whose idea was this? Do they expect people to read it and think "why was I wasting my time with the guardian for all those years when I could have been looking at Kelly brook in a vest?"

ShakesBootyFlabWobbles · 12/06/2014 19:19

Left a JFT96 note on my letterbox this morning and postie didn't deliver it Grin He's going to be getting a Christmas box this year.

'Donkeys ago' WTAF? Are you not aware that the inquests are going on right now in Warrington for the 96 people who died (38 of which were children/teenagers). Families have been fighting 25 years for this.

Lots of support around the country below, I particularly like the poster put up in Saudi Arabia:

cardibach · 12/06/2014 19:23

I know, Beyond. I'm all left out, too. I was thinking of asking the art teachers at school to set a project...but we're in Wales, so not allowed a crappy Sun to play with.

TheWoollybacksWife · 12/06/2014 19:34

I sent mine back with a polite note. To be honest I am under no illusions that my individual protest will register with the Sun - BUT it made ME feel better to do it. My DH went to the semi final the year before and was bitterly disappointed not to have a ticket in 1989. My heart goes out to the families who have fought for justice for their loved ones. Flowers

fifi669 · 12/06/2014 20:12

It was donkeys ago. Do you really think sending back a paper is punishing those that reported at the time? Even if every single freebie went back, the people responsible at the time aren't there.

The sun and other papers reported what they were told at the time. They were misinformed. They didn't cause the accident.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 12/06/2014 20:22

But they influenced the verdict. So punished the families for 25 years .

TheWoollybacksWife · 12/06/2014 20:29

Do share your guidelines for an appropriate length of time for events to remain in people's consciousness Fifi

I'm sure it will make studying history a lot easier. Anything 'donkeys ago' can be left off the syllabus. Hmm

fifi669 · 12/06/2014 20:36

As soon as they found out the story was based on lies they apologised. They have apologised many times since.

Should we still punish Germany for the war? No. It's history. You take your lessons from it and move on.

ExcuseTypos · 12/06/2014 20:36

fifi you really are disgusting to repeat your "donkey's ago' comment.

AnyaKnowIt · 12/06/2014 20:37

I too would love to know about time frames.

Just it just count for Hillsborough? Cancel remembrance Sunday?

ExcuseTypos · 12/06/2014 20:38

Well according to your logic, the war was 'donkeys ago' so we shouldn't even think/talk/or teach our children about it. Hmm

FreudiansSlipper · 12/06/2014 20:38

Kelvin Mackenzie choose to print sensational headlines along with the most terribly upsetting photos. it suited his political agenda and his ego with no care to harm he caused people

other editors ignored these reports

SauceForTheGander · 12/06/2014 20:40

Oh fifi now who's rewriting history. They've not apologised many times since and they did not alter their stance at the first whiff of having written an utterly inaccurate and damaging account.

For someone who thinks this is such a non topic you've certainly got a lot to say about it.

xihha · 12/06/2014 20:41

I've not read through the posts since I last commented so apologies if I repeat something that was already posted but my friend just posted a free post address to send it back to... FREEPOST, The Sun, London E98 1AX

ShakesBootyFlabWobbles · 12/06/2014 20:42

An entire city in mourning for 96 men, women and children. That was 'THE TRUTH', not what the scum deemed fit to print. Bastards.

fifi669 · 12/06/2014 20:43

Remembrance Day is about the victims of war. This isn't about remembering the victims of war, this is about picking someone to blame. They weren't to blame for an accident. They reported on what they were told by the police.

BettyBolognese · 12/06/2014 20:44

We got one in the post today too! :(

stillstandingatthebusstop · 12/06/2014 20:44

Ooh - thank you for the address to return the paper. I put it straight in the recycling but it's been pissing me off all day.

FreudiansSlipper · 12/06/2014 20:44

told by a few police apparently
