I know I am not BU. I am going to post it back to Sun HQ in an unstamped envelope ( will probably tear it into pieces before I do). Who will join me?

why would anyone want to cost the Royal Mail money?

cardamomginger · 12/06/2014 17:01

My copy is being sent back in a box.

Sixweekstowait · 12/06/2014 17:10

So they might reconsider controversial contracts that could damage their reputation when they are aware of similar public opinion.

Sorry you need things explaining to you. I was under the impression that you thought yourself of superior intelligence.

fifi669 · 12/06/2014 17:15

It's a newspapers free World Cup special.... Hardly controversial.

RedToothBrush · 12/06/2014 17:16

Sorry, did you miss most of the 500 posts on this thread fifi?

Nancy66 · 12/06/2014 17:19

'controversial' contracts that make them a lot of money and enable our daily postal service to continue?

chockbic · 12/06/2014 17:19

Just stick it in the bin or recycling.

Hardly worth drama over.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 12/06/2014 17:20

It could go the other way and make a lot of money for the PO if they deliver the Freepost ones and the SUn will have to pay for them.

Sorry, but just because something is a national service, does not mean to say that it should be exempt from moral responsibility for the sake of finance.

I feel the same for both private and public sector.

FreudiansSlipper · 12/06/2014 17:26

so it pains me that I went on The Sub website and had live chat regarding how I could send paper back without charges being made to Royal Mail and this was the response .... name changed to protect Man at the Sun privacy

You're now chatting with Man From The Sun. How can I help you?

You: how can I send my copy back of the paper I received today as I do not want it

You: without the costs being charged to the royal mail

Man From The Sun: Hello, you're chatting with Man From The Sun. I'm here to help you with any questions you may have about Sun+.

Man From The Sun: If you would not like to read the paper, we encourage you to recycle it, as this would be the best solution for the environment.

You: no I want to make a stand about having The Sun sent to my home, a paper I strongly disagree with

Man From The Sun: We would request that you recycle this mailing, or dispose of it responsibly.

You: I think you are missing the point, The Sun can do this once it is received

Man From The Sun: Customers who do not wish to receive unaddressed mail can opt out by completing the relevant form on the Royal Mail website www.royalmail.com

Man From The Sun: Please be aware that by selecting to 'opt out' of receiving 'Door to Door' mail, you are choosing not to receive any unaddressed mail from Royal Mail, and that could include important communications from local or central government.

You: i would like to return it in protest as it was never requested in the first place so would like an address that i can return it too without the costs being put on The Royal Mail

Man From The Sun: You could put a stamp on it.

You: i do not want to pay money to send it back i never wanted it in the first place

You: do you have an address or not please?

Man From The Sun: Not a free post one, no.

Man From The Sun: We suggest you recycle the paper.

Man From The Sun: As this would be the most carbon friendly way to deal with the situation.

You: no i suggest that The Sun does not send out free papers to those who have no desire to read this so called paper

Man From The Sun: I have given you a suggestion to recycle the paper if you do not wish to read it. Apologies if its content offends you. But we're unable to collect it from you or pay for it to be sent back.

You: so millions of papers have been sent out and now i am being advised about the most carbon friendly way to deal with an unwanted paper in first place

You: who do i take this up further with

Man From The Sun: You can make an official complaint by writing to:

Man From The Sun: The Sun, 3 Thomas More Square, London, E98 1XY

You: thank you

RedToothBrush · 12/06/2014 17:26

Oh I forgot. This is a concept that any journalists fail to understand. Hence why we had phone hacking in the first place.

FreudiansSlipper · 12/06/2014 17:27

The Sun website not The Sub

I think Man From The Sun had answered this question more than once today .....

Sixweekstowait · 12/06/2014 17:30

FreudianSlipper - thank you for sharing!!

ExcuseTypos · 12/06/2014 17:32

Great, thanks for that Freudian!

fifi669 · 12/06/2014 17:34

Some of you don't like the journalism, fine.

Some of you are going on about hillsborough, which was donkeys ago. Although they may have sensationalised the story, they were acting on what they thought was the case at the time. The biggest point is that the people involved with the reporting won't be there anymore, is it a valid reason to punish the paper forever?

Some of you don't like page 3. This supplement didn't contain page 3. When the paid paper does I really don't think it's a big deal. It's less sexual/erotic than so called art.

A lot of fuss over nothing.

FreudiansSlipper · 12/06/2014 17:35

sorry it is not much help

I am still not sure if we send it back to the freepost address (Man From The Sun was unaware of) it will be charged to the Royal Mail

but guessing how quickly he responded it was not the first time he had been asked

and the advice on recycling responsibly Hmm how may millions of papers were sent out

cardibach · 12/06/2014 17:35

Freudian - write the complaint in the margins and post it to that address without a stamp?
I hate the Sun and did even before Hillsborough. It's a rag.

Apologies if I missed this being posted, but a friend has linked me to this on facebook for those of a creative bent.

AnnieLobeseder · 12/06/2014 17:36

I don't think I've ever met anyone so spectacularly capable of missing a point as you, fifi669.

Mckayz · 12/06/2014 17:39

Fifi, I imagine you've never lost a family member in tragic circumstances that could have been avoided? I doubt the families think that it was donkeys ago and it's really very rude to say such a thing.

FreudiansSlipper · 12/06/2014 17:41

Hillsborough donkeys ago wtf

what a stupid inconsiderate nasty post

Sixweekstowait · 12/06/2014 17:45

Freudian - if I'd received one I would rear it in two, send one back free post and the other to the Thomas More address. Well, a girl pensioner can dream

OP posts:
Sixweekstowait · 12/06/2014 17:45

I might even tear it in two
