To be absolutely steaming about having a free copy of the Sun delivered by Royal Mail?

I know I am not BU. I am going to post it back to Sun HQ in an unstamped envelope ( will probably tear it into pieces before I do). Who will join me?

Although having seen so many people are sending them back - in 10 envelopes no less it's tempting to go get it back from the recycling box :)

2boysandcounting1 · 12/06/2014 14:17

My moms copy is ripped up in an envelope ready to go back and i will do the same when i get home! Its the principle, i would never buy it and don't want it through my door. Its all to easy to just throw it away but that doesn't get your point accross. They may have not included page 3 again but still have women on page 3 rating them!

IsChippyMintonExDirectory · 12/06/2014 14:25

We got a copy too. My toddler kindly tore it up for me of her own accord. She's very politically aware Wink

aquashiv · 12/06/2014 14:28

Got ours today - pile of old shite that it is. I am happy to think that they must be desperate to do such a thing its days are numbered.

Mckayz · 12/06/2014 14:32

I wonder how Steven Gerrard feels about his picture being on the front of it. His cousin was the youngest Hillsborough victim. Sad

Follow-up on Darkesteyes' link...

alAswad · 12/06/2014 15:12

By the way, this may have been said already but I live in Liverpool (not from there originally) and can tell you that just seeing the words of support from people around the country makes a huge difference to people there after not being believed for so long - awareness is a massive part of what the HJC has been fighting for for the past 25 years. Keyboard warriors, fight away! Smile

Mckayz · 12/06/2014 15:17

Just walked right past the post box. Idiot.

I have to go back past on way back from school so will remember then.

2boysandcounting1 · 12/06/2014 15:19

Posted it back now.

ExcuseTypos · 12/06/2014 15:21

We didn't get one. I don't know if I'm outraged or delighted.

I was all ready to send it back wrapped in a brick.

RedToothBrush · 12/06/2014 15:53

Tom Watson got my respect over his handling of the phone hacking stuff. So naturally I love the follow up on this...

Oh and if you are one of the disappointed people who hasn't had theirs yet, apparently they are being distributed today and tomorrow so don't despair, you might get one yet. Hmm

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 12/06/2014 15:58

Leaping, eds?

Mckayz · 12/06/2014 16:17

I remembered to post it on the way back past the post box. I have no idea if they will care but it feels like I am doing something.

ExcuseTypos · 12/06/2014 16:25

I can be outraged after all. [Grin]

We did get one, DH had put it in the recycling and hadnt mentioned it.

I've fished it out and will be posting back to them. BASTARDS!!!!!

ExcuseTypos · 12/06/2014 16:26

There are quite a few addresses posted on this thread. Des it matter which one is used?

RedToothBrush · 12/06/2014 16:31

Freepost The Sun will definitely have to pay for and the Royal Mail will have to deliver.

None Freepost The Royal Mail will still have to collect and attempt to deliver. If its not paid for by The Sun then it will be up to them to dispose of it if there is no identifiable return address (of course at their inconvenience and expense).

Either way, it gets to point across to both parties.

Nancy66 · 12/06/2014 16:40

They do not definitely have to pay or it.

god, the rubbish on this thread.

It has to be a valid, registered freepost address. You can't just write 'freepost' on something and suddenly, magically, you don't have to pay any postage ever again. Otherwise everyone would be doing it wouldn't they?

If it is a valid address then it will have weight and volume restrictions in place.

ExcuseTypos · 12/06/2014 16:40

Thanks Red, I will post it to the freepost address.

ExcuseTypos · 12/06/2014 16:42

Oh in that case ill post it to the other address, without a stamp.

LieInsAreExtinct · 12/06/2014 16:46
I will be sending mine back.
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 12/06/2014 16:50

Without a stamp will just be left with the PO. Freepost won't be delivered without the registered Freepost licence number, has anyone posted that, I haven't spotted it on the thread yet.

AnnieLobeseder · 12/06/2014 16:50

While I agree that Freepost addresses usually have a number attached, Nancy, the Sun itself advertises the Freepost address posted above for sending them letters. So while it may or may not work, it's worth a try and so I will be using it. And while I am tempted to send them the broken washing machine currently sitting in the middle of my living room, I accept that yes, there probably are restrictions on size and weight. So I have settled for an A4 envelope with a book in it which isn't too heavy but still heavier than one small newspaper, and which will fit through a post box.

AnnieLobeseder · 12/06/2014 16:54

Article about it in the Indie.

RedToothBrush · 12/06/2014 16:58

I've worked with mailouts / freepost before, and I believe that generally the guidelines on FREEPOST are much less strict than other forms of contracted mail. I think the registration number helps with sorting but isn't essential.

Either way, its still going to be a pain in the backside for the Royal Mail and cost them money, even if it doesn't reach its destination and cost The Sun money.
