is it not a leetle bit bigoted to blame the gays for the weather?

gordyslovesheep · 23/04/2014 18:22

or to use terms like 'bongo bongo land' in a non ironic manner

caruthers · 23/04/2014 18:22

Tory immigration policy.

Clamping down on benefits tourism and health tourism - so that we only welcome those who want to work hard and contribute to our society
Cutting non-EU net immigration to its lowest level since 1998 - to ease pressure on the schools and hospitals that all hardworking people rely on
Introducing a new citizen test with British values at its heart

UKIP immigration policy

• Regain control of our borders and of immigration - only possible by leaving the EU.

• Immigrants must financially support themselves and their dependents for 5 years. This means private health insurance (except emergency medical care), private education and private housing - they should pay into the pot before they take out of it.

• A points-based visa system and time-limited work permits.

• Proof of private health insurance must be a precondition for immigrants and tourists to enter the UK.

..............................

Wording aside and without the policy to leave Europe there isn't a lot of difference between the two.

More people are disliking UKIP for leaving Europe which will affect chances for education and living abroad in Europe.

This really isn't a luxury many disenfranchised voters can afford or indeed want.

fidelineish · 23/04/2014 18:22

You think Gordy?! Wink

That's an example of the 'political correctness gone mad' that UKIP have vowed to break through.

Political correctness is when you cannot repeat a crime statistic without having 'racist' shouted at you.

One day you might just wake up and see what a mess this country is in when people cannot even discuss current affairs, such the crime rate within the Romanian UK-based community.

We can no longer discuss facts.

TillyTellTale · 23/04/2014 18:23

Was it serving MEP Godfrey Bloom who referred to "Bongo-bongo land"?

TillyTellTale · 23/04/2014 18:25

X-post.

fidelineish · 23/04/2014 18:25

It was indeed Tilly good-old-down-to-earth-plain-speaking-Godfrey Wink

OP posts:
gordyslovesheep · 23/04/2014 18:25

so you DO want to define political correctness now - talk about U-turn

and no it's not PC - it fine to challenge it if it's used to make a racist point

I'd love to see some FACTS from UKIP though - actually facts - oh how I long for lovely facts :(

gordyslovesheep · 23/04/2014 18:26

so UKIP want to take away my right to say 'oh now that's a bit racist' in order to protect free speech ...

fidelineish · 23/04/2014 18:27

At least that's what they call him at the BNP meetings....

Councillor to have diversity training after golliwog remarks

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/10529940/Councillor-to-have-diversity-training-after-golliwog-remarks.html

We can all play racist bingo it's not hard.

It just shows that there are idiots in all parties and walks of life.

gordyslovesheep · 23/04/2014 18:31

Tories can be racist too shocker !

it's not bingo btw it's a legitimate point in a debate about the issue of racism and bigotry in a political party to give actual real examples

WetAugust · 23/04/2014 18:33

Gordy

so you DO want to define political correctness now - talk about U-turn

No, you're wrong. Read it again carefully. I defined PC gone mad.

What 'racist' point is being made by discussing Romanian crime figures FFS! Romanians are not a separate race.

Ignoring facts is neglecting the opportinuty to take action to improve a situation.

caruthers · 23/04/2014 18:35

gordyslovesheep this is a debate about one party in particular where the blinkered assume UKIP voters are racist because UKIP are deemed racist even though nobody can find a policy that is actually racist.

Then as if to prove that point they show names of racist remarks by people associated with UKIP whilst ignoring the fact that other parties have racist thinking people in them too.

This is more about leaving Europe than actual racism.

ComposHat · 23/04/2014 18:41

It is not 'PC gone mad' to interrogate claims made by UKIP. It is what any critically aware person does when presented with a contentious claim Especially when UKIP have a habit of trotting out misleading and context free statistics. Given that the figure relating to Romanian migrants refers to a five year period and to people held for questioning rather than charged or convicted the statistic it ishould be treated with a skipload of salt.

Funny thing about UKIPers is that the scream that they are routinely ignored (despite getting acres more coverage than any other party without a Westminster MP). But when they get treated like a 'proper' political party and their claims, statistics, policies and representatives are scrutinised, they scream like stuck pigs, claiming it is not fair and that it is a liblabcon/socialist BBC conspiracy to do them down.

TillyTellTale · 23/04/2014 18:42

As I already pointed out, the volume of remarks, considering that UKIP is tiny, is significant.

As is the fact that this week's UKIP and BNP election posters are so similar.

caruthers · 23/04/2014 18:46

But when they get treated like a 'proper' political party

Every mention of them is in the sense that they are seen to be racist.

That's the point of the thread isn't it?

People are starting to believe them and that the machine of WM is worried that the disenfranchised will actually side with them.

Meaningless babble will not convince UKIP voters to alter their choice for the ballot box and the constant slandering of the party and voters will just entrench resolve.

fidelineish · 23/04/2014 18:49

Oh I'm the organ of a leftist conspiracy am I?

I actually wanted to hear what there was to hear.

So, it's OK to shout 'racist' when UKIP points out crime stats before you check the veracity of those figures.

Yes, Caruthers. The whole point of this thread is to single out UKIP for accusations of racism.

Silly people doing the bidding (probably unwittingly) of the policital masters withput any evidence to back up their claim.

Bizarre!
