Ah. Yes it was the underling I was querying.

You're right though, of course; it was quite bad enough without the added implication.

I didn't do the underling Fidelineish. It does rather demonstrate the homophobic principles being peddled in North Norfolk though.
The Staffordshire (I think) one was even worse.

Yes they are racist, and also very misogynistic. It's the party of choice for those blokes who mouth off in the pub about how all the 'darkies' should go home and the women should be chained to the kitchen. If you want a protest vote try the Green party, at least they're not hateful!

Ok sorry to be a spoilsport. But on the plus side if a UKIP supporter does come back to the thread now the answer should be more interesting and inventive Grin

Much though I consider UKIP an amateurish party, lousy with bigots and homophobes Dawn, I'm not sure that particular leaflet carries the meaning you are trying to impose upon it.

I just wanted to hear someone try to defend it softly. I find it revealing. I particularly wanted to hear the ""just because 1 or several candidates say racist things does not make the party racist, lib, lab, con members have also said things does that make their parties racist??" argument applied (by a supporter) to this lastest debacle.

No problem Fidelineish

But be fair its not exactly hard to presume the average UKIP voter response in these circumstances.

Ask me your average scientists opinion on the God / Science conundrum and I may find it a little more tricky.

Well if you're going to anticipate whole conversations softly it saves us all the bother of posting (or thinking) for ourselves. Thanks for that Hmm

What's the point in asking for comment?

I can give you the answer "just because 1 or several candidates say racist things does not make the party racist, lib, lab, con members have also said things does that make their parties racist??"

The very fact of overwhelming terribly coincidental weight of examples of UKIP members being raging racist homophobes is totally not the point as they don't write it down in their policy documents.

UKIP supporters will completely ignore the fact that behaviour and attitude and actions state more about a party than any official policy and anti UKIP can't actually prove that wrong because how can you?

The very fact that what every major party writes and what they actually do is very different totally passes them by. We have years and years of evidence for what lab/lib/con attitudes as a holistic view actually are as they have all been in power and until UKIP voters are willing to open their eyes to behaviour then I guess we can't do anything other than pray to god they never get into power to prove that all these displayed behaviours are in fact far more realistic that the policy document which may as well be used for toilet paper for all the truth they hold.

By which point I'll be packing my "oh fuck" bag ready for the Gestapo to come knocking.

They're awful. Frankly, anyone who tries to argue that UKIP isn't a racist party is fighting a losing battle.

How people can persist in the view that UKIP is not a racist party when so many of its candidates keep making such blatantly racist statements? Why would you expect racist candidates to implement anything other than racist policies? Confused

Icimoi You are correct the manifesto ( which I have only just looked at ) does indeed state ' held' which is of course 'complete bollocks'.
I was going off quotes from UKIP's last party conference where Farage stated “There have been an astounding 28,000 arrests in the Metropolitan Police area of Romanians in the last five years alone…92 per cent of ATM crime in the capital is already being committed by Romanian gangs.” the first part is fact according to both the Met and the ONS

The whole thing about where you were born is a bit of a red herring, anyway.
You could have several generations who were born in the UK yet none are UK citizens (or ethnic British or even European citizens). Meanwhile DD has a mate born in Barbados to English-born parents/grandies (so he'd jump the queue).

It's a hare-brained policy because of the enormous loopholes in it.

My cup runneth over with good reasons to dislike UKIP. Waste of time arguing over meaning of a tiny hare-brained policy when they are explicitly on the record as supporting fracking, denying climate change, sending far fewer people to university, reduced or no maternity pay or paternity leave, opposing gay marriage, repealing other forms of anti-discrimination legislation (I could go on for a few hours).

Having a bit of a laugh at this bit of UKIP sophistry:

And yes, they are a racist* party. Their 2014 manifesto claims that "28,000 Romanians are held for crimes in London" which is, er, complete bollocks.
The Met arrested 27,727 Romanians between 2008 and 2013 so it's not exactly complete bollocks is it.

Let's have a look at that. "Are held" indicates held in 2014, not hold over a 6 year period. "Held for crimes" indicates that they have been convicted, whilst "arrested" includes a substantial number who don't even get charged, and a further substantial number who don't get convicted. And neither UKIP nor the person defending UKIP's decision to produce this allegation chooses to supply the figures over the 2008-2013 period for arrests of people of English nationality. Why would that be, I wonder?
