To wonder just how much rent you people are paying?

I often see posters commenting on how much rent they are paying to live in nice areas/near good schools etc. and I can't help but wonder how much you are all paying!

I am lucky that I live in a Housing Association house, and that I live in the North where rents seem to be cheaper.

My rent is £420 a month for a 2 bedroom house - how much is yours?

ViviPru · 09/04/2014 14:10

I'm a jammy get. £750 for a detached 2 bed on a massive plot in the midlands with countryside views in one of the nicest villages in the county.

It was hard fought though.

£475 for a private rental outside Belfast - 3 double beds, two receptions, internal garage and parking for two cars on the drive. Terraced house in a v quiet estate. My mil is staying with us at the moment and can't get over the lack of noise and this is a woman with a house in the country.

salemsparklys · 09/04/2014 14:12

Forgot to add we have our own driveway, huge garden, cows graze on one side and the horses the other. We are 8 mins drive from the train station.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 09/04/2014 14:13

Before we bought we paid £1300 for a two bed flat in sw London.

It's sub standard too

PandaFeet · 09/04/2014 14:13

£480 for a huge 4 bed terrace with big back yard, front garden and driveway.

Modern kitchen, but the bathroom is a little dated. None the less, we love this house.

I live in N.Ireland.

Quirky 60's bungalow in a really nice area, detached, 3 beds with big gardens - £700 per month

StormyBrid · 09/04/2014 14:14

£415 for a two bed terrace. Plus thirty quid every six months to renew the contract. Nice enough area, decent local independent shops, good local primaries (though the nearest secondary is dire). Parking's a nightmare though. I'm in East Yorkshire.

TheNightIsDark · 09/04/2014 14:14

600 4 bed townhouse in new estate in Northamptonshire. Mates rates though as it's DPs friend who owns it. According to zoopla it should be £850.

Outstanding academy school 5 mins away.

sezamcgregor · 09/04/2014 14:14

unintentionalthreadkiller · 09/04/2014 14:15

My sister pays £1200 for a 2 bed flat, no garden, zone 4. We are mortgaged but it's still less than that.

Emubaby · 09/04/2014 14:16

£1500 a month for a 2 bed flat in London.

Wantsunshine · 09/04/2014 14:16

£2700 for a 3 bed terrace that really needs to be updated. Cheapskate landlord. Going to hand in my notice today and find somewhere else. Probably be about the same but hopefully not shit threadbare carpets. Wish I could move out of the south East and must stop looking at what I could get in other areas.

StrawberryCheese · 09/04/2014 14:16

£650 for a new build 2-bed flat in central Edinburgh. We know the landlord so getting it cheaper than we would normally.

fideline · 09/04/2014 14:16

£507 rent plus £1480 mortgage PCM (shared ownership 3.5 bed house), London

passmethewineplease · 09/04/2014 14:17

We pay £500 for a three bed semi in Cheshire.

DPs parents own it, rent at the market rate round here would be around £700-£825.

Curious to know what part of Cheshire you're in socks!

unicornpoop · 09/04/2014 14:18

650 for a 3 bed detached in the Midlands. Moved to be nearer ds next school from a 3bed semi that was 675

exexpat · 09/04/2014 14:19

Last time I was renting (six years ago) I was paying £1,400 for a little mews house in one of the nicest bits of Bristol. To rent the house I'm living in now would cost nearly £3k a month (studenty area of Bristol, rents are pushed up by landlords cramming 6 or 7 students at a time into 5-bed houses).

TheListingAttic · 09/04/2014 14:20

(Up until five months ago) £530 for a two bedroom house in Leicester. City centre in walking distance, fairly naice area. (Before we moved here we each used to pay similar per month for rooms in shared houses in London.)
