To wonder just how much rent you people are paying?

I often see posters commenting on how much rent they are paying to live in nice areas/near good schools etc. and I can't help but wonder how much you are all paying!

I am lucky that I live in a Housing Association house, and that I live in the North where rents seem to be cheaper.

My rent is £420 a month for a 2 bedroom house - how much is yours?

SqutterNutBaush · 10/04/2014 11:16

CaptainHammer · 10/04/2014 11:33

Pinkglow · 10/04/2014 11:48

875 for a two bed maisonette in Surrey. Could be worse my friend is paying 700 for a one bedroom and she has a DS but cant afford to move to a two bed

No hope of buying around here so as soon as we can we are moving away from the SW (DHs job is transferable)

OurMiracle1106 · 10/04/2014 11:51

mummytowillow · 10/04/2014 19:58

£600 for a large 3 bed in North Wales.

tmae · 10/04/2014 20:15

£850 for a 2 bedroom flat in Surrey (at a discounted family rate as the other flats cost around £1,200 per month).

Sleepingbunnies · 10/04/2014 20:19

£925 - 3 bedroom house South East london

Bananapickle · 10/04/2014 20:20

Until last year paying £825 for a 3 bed end of terrace which has now been rented at £850. We were able to buy thanks to the bank of mum and dad and we now pay a mortgage of £622 for a slightly bigger 3 bed.

Bananapickle · 10/04/2014 20:20

Btw that's in Wiltshire.

Personally i love renting, but it suits our personalities as we get itchy feet,we have been here 3 years now and i cant wait to move,i think we will in about another 2 years when dh has hopefully sold the business.

Plus we home educate so we are not tied to schools, and both our families are miles and miles away so were not tied down in that respect either.

Plus there's all the money you save on the repairs,,and the fact that most home "owners" are really only renting a house off the bank, they have to give it back if they cant meet the repayments and they pay shitloads more than the house is actually worth with all the intrest, its a rip off in my opinion,we would never buy a house unless we could outright,or with a tiny mortgage.

England is the only country ive been to where owning your own home is seen as such a big deal.

CaulkheadUpNorth · 10/04/2014 21:29

£800 for a four bedroom town house in Birmingham.

Gwladgwlad · 10/04/2014 23:05

£1120 for a 2 bed house in Brighton

Reading this thread makes me think that this country needs a house price crash so some normality comes back- the fact that most people are priced out of putting a roof over their kids head makes me very cross!

Thisvehicleisreversing · 10/04/2014 23:24

£700 a month for a 3 bed detached on a modern estate.

ThatVikRinA22 · 10/04/2014 23:32

my son is paying £525 for a 1 bed flat in the moorfield area of leeds - not in the greatest state of repair but its a large flat.

reading some of these rents i think we should sell up and rent....i live in shitsville, tiny 3 bed, nicest part of shitsville....mortgage is £750.

justanuthermanicmumsday · 10/04/2014 23:35

i really want to swear but i wont its not like me lol im astounded at those of you willing to live in london paying nearly £2000 on a 1 or 2 bedroom property?!!! hell with london unless youre minted and its no bother paying?

husband pays £1300 on a 4 bedroom victorian semi. marketed as 4 beds but has spare room downstairs, attic floor with another spare lounge, and 2 further box bedrooms. not luxury decor but very nice old fashioned look. garage, utility room, garden, drive. up and coming area, very close to city centre, yet peaceful. in more posh area this would be £2000 minimum in rent.

randomfemale · 10/04/2014 23:38

£750 per month for a 3 bed, huge detached house in a very naice part of Yorkshire - on a tranquil river. Only noise is ducks/pheasants in daytime and owls at night time. Can't comprehend London rents Shock

justanuthermanicmumsday · 10/04/2014 23:38

oo £800 is good for town house "caulkheadupnorth" i think my husband will want to do a house swap, he just wants to live in brum for asian and arab takeaways lol, theyre rubbish over here appalling.

Morloth · 11/04/2014 01:26

I loved living in London, was worth every penny.

Loopyster · 11/04/2014 01:37

About GBP 700 per month. 3 bed modern condo with gym, pool, restaurant, shop, sauna etc., in leafy expat area of Kuala Lumpur.

Xihha · 11/04/2014 02:44

£495 a month for a huge 2 bed HA flat in Kent, near the town center, in one of the nicer areas. Private rent for 2 beds in the area is about £850-£900 and most of the ones we've looked at were much smaller than my flat

Misspixietrix · 11/04/2014 03:47

Whatever £750 for a 1 bed!! Shock.

treaclesoda · 11/04/2014 04:30

I have a mortgage but if I was renting a house similar to my own (large 3 bed semi) in this area it would be around £525.

We bought quite a while ago so our mortgage is quite a bit cheaper than that.

Thatssofunny · 11/04/2014 10:03

Last house we rented was in the SW, £650 for a three bed semi, bathroom and master bedroom with ensuite, gated car park, small garden, about 100m from the beach...lovely area, nice neighbours and quite safe and quiet.
Couldn't (and wouldn't want to) live in London. I don't like having lots of people around...and I'd miss the beach.

Cantremembermyid · 11/04/2014 10:31

2700 pcm for 2bed flat, no garden in central/west london. The flat needed updating particularly kitchen and bathroom. We left last year and the property has been empty for less then 2 weeks...
