To not pay for 15 minutes babysitting

I'm going out with some people I don't know well next weekend. Usually when I go out with my mates we all make sure everyone gets home ok/ taxi shares etc but I'm not sure I can ask these people I don't know well. I am getting a lift there with someone but she has said she's staying out very late and I don't want to. DH not keen on my wandering around town alone looking for a taxi so want to pick me up ( will be out of the house 15 mins tops). There is no question of leaving the sleeping DC's obvs.
My neighbours 16 year old babysits for us sometimes and I pay her £5 an hour. We know the family well and help each other out - they feed cats for us when we are away and I sometimes let their dog out etc.
I was thinking of asking the daughter to come and sit in the house while DH picks me up - should I offer to pay her? If so how much?
Before I get told to " woman up" and get a taxi I'm just not comfortable with it and neither is DH and he wants to pick me up, which I would prefer too.

Depends on what time you will be leaving/ being picked up. If it's quite late then asking someone to come around at that time, I would just pay the 5 pounds.

It would be about 11. She would be sitting in front of our telly next door to where she would be sitting in front of hers.

Why would you expect her to do it for free. Of course you should offer to pay. But why not take a cab company number and book a cab from the venue you will be at, then there is no need for you to wander around looking for one?

I would pay or at least buy her some chips on the way home.

We all help each other out quite a lot - the only reason I think I might need to pay for this is because I have paid her to babysit before ( she's never asked I've just given her money)
I do actually have a few neighbours who would do this for free, as I would for them

For the sake of a fiver I would pay. Why not make the most and have a quick drink with DH before you head home?

I would work on the basis that it's £5 an hour or part thereof, in the same way as you would anyone carrying out a service for you who charges by the hour, so pay her the £5.

Why not ask one of the girl's parents to do it for free, as you help them out?
Or ask the people you don't know very well, all they can do is say no.
Or pay the girl a fiver, which is a very cheap hourly rate.

A fiver isn't a big deal, you are not paying taxi money but it would be a reasonable amount for a teenager and it is an unreasonable time for someone to be going out of the house as a favour.

I don't know any of my neighbours so I don't tend to do them favours!

It's asking a favour from a neighbour, she's not OPs staff. Paying her would be the nice thing to do but it's a bit OTT to think OP is taking the piss.

Well if you have neighbors who would do it for free, ask them instead
