Thank you ladies, it means the most from others who have been in the same situation. Never smokers just can't understand, and people who managed to give up instantaneously are if anything less understanding because they think if they managed it, it must be the same for everyone.
I know perfectly well that those last couple are very much psychological in my case, and they taste pretty rank too
, but for a month I've been stuck there in my mind. I think it's the "oh my gods need to top up nicotine before I go to bed" feeling, then wanting the instant nicotine hit after none for a few hours come the mornings. It's my own mind I have to beat now, and kind friends nagging is if anything counterproductive as I'm a bit of a contrary cow.
