Is this odd or am I over reacting?

On Xmas eve I started getting text messages from an unknown number purporting to be from an ex boyfriend of mine ( 15 yrs ago ). I am married with two children for 10 years. It was obviously not from him because or the wording (grammar) but there were references to things we did together.

I thought it was coincidence and one of these text scams where you get charged for the text. My husband denied it was him playing a joke when the messages kept coming on Christmas Day . I got a bit fed up this week as they were still coming and were personal so I rang the mobile phone company to find out if I could block them ( I had never replied) they said just ignore them and I wasn't being charged.

This evening I got one which seemed like someone was watching me so I freaked out and asked my husband again if it was him and was shocked when he said it had all been him winding me up !
I think it's weird why do this to me? He heard me phoning the mobile company to try and block the number and carried on with it. The content of the texts was mainly about memories and I love you still and let's get back together. I was cross with him and he says I am over reacting.

maybe he was 'testing' you. extremely odd, i agree. i don't mind the occasional light-hearted prank but that's freakish.

No you are not over-reacting. It was a ridiculous thing to do anyway, but to carry it on like he did is really weird, quite nasty and unsettling. Do you think he's worried you aren't happy?

He is going to turn into one of those men who wants to know your every move when you pop to the shops for a packet of butter. He was clearly trying to "test" you. Vile and sinister

Huge red flag, he was testing you to see how you'd respond to being contacted by an old flame.

That's awful! Getting messages like that would frighten me why would he want to frighten his wife?! Especially the one where you thought someone was watching you that's just creepy and not funny at all!

WTAF. This is very strange, on Christmas Day and even after he heard you ring the phone company!? This is extremely odd and sounds as if he was testing you.

what did he say when you asked him why he was doing it

Thats weird to keep it up for so long when he must have been aware that it was distressing you.
Is he testing you in some way? Like he wanted to see your reaction. Imagine if you had sent some flirty replies, what would his reaction have been then?
Does he often play jokes?
It's just odd imo.
