According to threads I've been reading lately, most things I do seem to be marking me (and my family) out as chavs.

I fed my children formula and jarred food - this is chavvy
My Mum likes cards that say Nanny and she sends relative-specific cards - chavvy
My children like to wear character clothing - chavvy
I shop at Tesco and sometimes even Asda - chavvy

AIBU to be a bit tired of seeing the word 'chav' on here lately? I've challenged it and said that it's offensive, but just get the 'well, it's only online, why are you bothered', as if that makes it ok.

Yes, I realise I'm being over-sensitive, but me and my family aren't 'chavs' and I'm tired of it being bandied about (along with 'common') to describe things that people see as beneath them.

I think everyone has their own version of what they think is chavvy. Do what you feel comfortable and stick what anyone else thinks. Honestly. Most times chavvy=what most people do if you are to believe posts on MN.

You forgot one thing-

Having a number at the end of your nickname is also' chavvy' ...well I think so anyway..

Oh no, I must be a chav too, I gave DS a Christmas card with 'son' on it Mainly because I waited so very long to be able to do just that and buying them gives me the inner warm gooies.

I love Asda, am surrounded by Tescos so shop nowhere else most of the time...and I have a soft spot for Iceland. So, if you're chavvy so am I :D

Sorry your feeling like that but only you can make yourself feel that your chavy, no one else. So if you don't think you are at all then your not surely. I dont think im chavy at all but I shop at Tesco, Waitrose, M & S, Morrisons whatever happens to take my fancy. I did breastfeed for 7 years (two children one after the other). My kids hated brand logos on their clothes and only chose non branded clothing. As for how my Mum might like to be named...I dont care, she will get whatever card we send.

I do all the things on your list (I always shop at ASDA, they have the best choice here) and was bullied mercilessly at school for being "Up my own arse" and thinking I was better than everyone else. It's all relative.
