To have spent £180 on a diary

Early finish and drinks after work (Pitcher and Piano on Cornhill in London if it makes any difference).

Stumbled out of there well oiled, spotted Smythsons over the road at Royal Exchange and remembered I'd been asked by the missus for a diary for Xmas.

I went to pay and they wanted £180. That's £2 per day!

It's a nice diary but the price is still a bit toppy.

Just hope she like it

Shock WHAAAAAAT!!!!!??? I paid £2 for the whole year!

ComposHat · 20/12/2013 21:53

A pissed up fool and his money are soon parted.

Why are you telling us this? To demonstrate how rich you are? Or how utterly daft?

ThePinkOcelot · 20/12/2013 21:54

£180 on a diary?! I would be livid if my Dh paid that for a diary. That's ridiculous! Have you got money to burn?!

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 20/12/2013 21:54

£2 per day? Is it only a 90 day diary then? Confused

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 20/12/2013 21:55

It's 50p a day.

DancingLady · 20/12/2013 21:55

YABU - wasted money! And isn't that 50p a day (or thereabouts - can't do maths on a Friday night, sorry)?

DancingLady · 20/12/2013 21:56

x-post

Itneedntalwaysbeabunfight · 20/12/2013 21:56

Haha hadn't noticed that the maths was wrong! Grin

RhondaJean · 20/12/2013 21:56

It's a bargain, 50p per day.

Tullahulla · 20/12/2013 21:57

Got up, showered, went to work

Came home had dinner, went to bed.

And repeat for the next 364 days.

No, not at all have you spent too much on a diary Grin

Itneedntalwaysbeabunfight · 20/12/2013 21:57

I do hope it has tiny diamonds on each page Envy

CommanderShepard · 20/12/2013 21:58

Goodness me. Google Calendar is free and I have a leather cover on my phone...

Pitcher & Piano just about makes it better. If it had been Wetherspoons YWHBVU.

Elsiequadrille · 20/12/2013 21:58

Knew it would be Smythsons Grin

If you can afford it, and are sure she'll like it...

Southeastdweller · 20/12/2013 21:58

I had their basic one last year and that was almost £40. They are lovely presents so if she loves it then it's worth it. But I'd keep the receipt anyway.

PumpkinPositive · 20/12/2013 21:58

Bloody hell, I hope there's going to be some Pulitzer Prize winning literature going in there. Shock. May the ghost of Samuel Pepys inspire your wife!

MissRabbitsOtherJob · 20/12/2013 21:58

Compos - definitely daft, that's why I can't do simple maths. Schoolboy error on that one. Just as well I don't work for a bank, looking after other peoples' money. Oh, hold on

TheBeanAndTheBee · 20/12/2013 21:59

Beautiful smythson diary? I would LOVE that present!!

arfishy · 20/12/2013 21:59

Smythsons is lovely but GBP180 on a diary is too much. You could have got diamonds for that!

Elsiequadrille · 20/12/2013 21:59

I wouldn't be happy, by the way, with just a diary for Christmas, even if it had cost £180.00

NoComet · 20/12/2013 21:59

Since I use the diary Ap on my phone ....

Itneedntalwaysbeabunfight · 20/12/2013 22:00

Hang on I thought being rubbish with other people's money was a pre-requisite of working in a bank Confused

leftkidney · 20/12/2013 22:01

Good investment, you will wake up every day of the year and be able to bask in the warm glow of your own wealth.

Longdistance · 20/12/2013 22:01

Now we know why the banks are fucked Xmas Grin

BonaDea · 20/12/2013 22:01

Smythson stuff is lovely and I bet they've wrapped it beautifully.

Well done that man!!

TwattyBojangles · 20/12/2013 22:02

Shitting hell. Mine was free from a removals company. My calendar was £1.

Out of interest, what exactly makes this diary worth £180?
