AIBU ... to STILL feel positively evangelical about electronic cigarettes? [thread 2]

magimedi · 15/11/2013 22:02

Here we go with thread two.

There is a great deal of information on Thread One about vaping :

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1865547-to-feel-positively-evangelical-about-electronic-cigarettes?pg=1

I think that many of us have been able to give up smoking thanks to e-cigs & vaping & are all feeling the positive results & want to spread the message.

Hello! Didn't realise this thread was still on the go, how wrong was I!!!

Anyway, I've started mixing my own liquid, and have bought an mvp2, which is Fab! Currently vaping my own mix of vamp vape from t juice in bed. Vaping is wonderful!

Jux · 25/01/2014 15:48

Admirable, Allergic! Beautifully clear, concise and to the point Thanks

MaggieMcGill · 25/01/2014 17:36

Dizzy have you used the orange cream in a plastic clearo? I may try mne tonight, it's been sitting here since Just after the New Year. I must say that I'm enjoying the banana nut bread Smile

DizzyZebra · 25/01/2014 17:49

Maggie i have an iclear 16, i think that's plastic? I think i clear 30 is polycarbonate, and i have a mini protank, not sure what that is. Ive had it in those, and a ce4 which i assume was plastic.

had no problems with any of them :)

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 25/01/2014 19:15

Allergic that's a brilliant post Smile

I watched the ITV programme last night on catch up and spent a lot of time shouting at the telly.

This morning I found , Chris Choi on VaporTrails TV, answering critics of the programme - well worth a watch although the sound is dreadful.

I still think the programme was biased against.

DizzyZebra · 27/01/2014 17:32

Mmm got another batch from joosejuice today. Dark cherry needs steeping but Irish cream is lovely!

LedareAnsley · 27/01/2014 17:40

I'm on Day three tobacco free. After twenty five years Grin Grin Grin

Currently smoking chocolate because the fruity sweet flavours (even chocolate lime) weren't as satisfying somehow. I need to find a new flavour but suspect a sweet tobacco might be a bad idea.

Thank you so much for this thread (and the last) Smile

LedareAnsley · 27/01/2014 17:42

Dizzy I thought the Irish Cream would taste like Baileys but it just tasted like, well, cream to me! It might have needed more steeping.

DizzyZebra · 27/01/2014 18:29

It tastes like what i think baileys would taste like (i don't actually drink baileys!) to me, i had it in my i clear 16 :)

LedareAnsley · 27/01/2014 18:49

that would make a difference. I keeping meaning buy one of those but put off by the price! I've ordered GSH2's to replace my ce4s.

Cantabile · 27/01/2014 21:53

Good going, Ledare!

I like the GS-H2s. I've just re-wicked one of mine as I lost the wicks while washing it Blush! I used cotton wool tightly twisted. It's working quite well, so I'm rather pleased with myself.

ilovesooty · 27/01/2014 23:02

I love JJ Irish cream. I'm currently in mourning a bit as I ordered two 30ml bottles of butterscotch from Vapourtine and it's now been discontinued as I'm about to run out. I have loads of other liquids but I'd become very fond of that one.

fraggleland · 28/01/2014 00:18

Hello, just wanted to thank you all very much.

After reading the original thread over christmas I decided to try vaping, mainly because I was getting sick of standing outside in the cold for a cigarette!

My intention was to cut down.

I bought my starter kit 18 days ago and have not smoked since, despite having half a tin of tobacco on the shelf.

I am absolutely over the moon. Previously I had tried gum, patches Zyban and hypnotism.

Again, many thanks for the thread, and all your invaluble advice.

Allergictoironing · 28/01/2014 13:10

Welcome fraggleland and congratulations Smile

magimedi · 28/01/2014 13:40

Well done, Fraggle.

I'm now 16 months in & feel so much better & richer!

Can I please ask a really stupid question? I've got the nicolites one (had it for a while, lacked the motivation to get with it).

how do I charge the sodding thing?? I really want to get on with it, but there is no charge left and I am such a technofuckwit that I cant work out what to do now!!

Allergictoironing · 28/01/2014 14:32

You should have had a charger supplied with it when you first bought it, usually a USB charger (that seems to be standard with the Nicolites starter kit). Simply plug the charger in, then screw the battery part onto the charger.

If you bought a disposable, those aren't designed to be recharged but are single use.

If you've lost the charger, I would recommend scrapping the Nicolite & replacing it with a slightly more advanced system like an eGo kit or SmartTank kit - the experience is MUCH better, the hassle factor is only a little more, and the running costs much lower. I started out on a cigalike & only managed to halve my real cigarette consumption, but with a decent kit I've cut it to 2 a day (from 30-odd); those last 2 I know are purely psychological in my case!

boschy · 28/01/2014 14:55

ah thanks for that allergic I will search my desk for the charger! I'm down to 10 a day now but have realised that the nicolite is no good because no charge... 2 a day from 30 is bloody fantastic, well done!

in fact didnt even have to search, I have now realised what the little thingy in my pen tray was for (smacks head theatrically emoticon)

THANK YOU!

magimedi · 28/01/2014 16:42

No questions are ever too stupid to ask!!

The whole moving to an ecig thing is quite complex if you haven't seen & had it explained to you.

Allergic did a really great sum up of the whole market of ecigs at the bottom of page 18, if you want to move on from a disposable.

OP posts:
Allergictoironing · 28/01/2014 17:14

Um that depends on how you have your settings displayed - comes at the bottom of page 36 for me?

magimedi · 28/01/2014 17:16

DOH!! I'd forgotten that you can juggle page settings!

We'll fix it to the first page of the next thread, Allergic & page 1 will be the same for all!

Yay! Well done ledare and fraggle Flowers

I feel I have reached a milestone today - I have been out and bought storage for my e cig supplies Blush

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 28/01/2014 20:01

Wow, just noticed I have passed another milestone - I am in credit! Shock

118 days without smoking
1770 fags not smoked
money not spent on smoking = £202.72
money spent on vaping = £197.16
money saved = £5.56

Woohoo!

Allergictoironing · 28/01/2014 20:35

Grats Plenty. If that's what you've saved when you were on what about 15 a day, and having gone just a leetle bit mad with kit, how much must I be saving (30 a day habit down to 2, & careful with kit & juices so far)?

I agree with you about the storage thing, I just have a few spare tanks (with different flavours in) and a few bottles of juice and my gear is spreading across the coffee table so if I get more shiney shiney kit I'll need somewhere to put it all Grin.

Cantabile · 28/01/2014 21:37

Yay! Well done everyone Cake all round!

Plenty - money to burn now Grin
