Inspired by the HW thread, I have been thinking about this for a while.

Arthur works for the MoM so wont be on a pittance as a head of department, even a minor one as there would surely be grades?

They eat massive amounts of expensive food having three courses at every dinner, cooked breakfast every day. When they win a load of money, instead of saving it in the knowledge that they have 4 kids still at school they blow the lot on a holiday of a month in Egypt! At the beginning of CoS Mrs W takes some silver sickles and ONE gold galleon from their vault, and then happily blows 1000 galleons on a holiday rather than see them financially secure for the next few years.

Seems to me that the reason their kids are in second hand robes and reading second hand books is because they are shit with money, not that they dont have enough.

Books.....They have to have a new Miranda Goshawk book each year, so when F&G have finished with them they could have passed one to Ron who passed it to Ginny and the older ones shared the remainder if they needed it, which is unlikely. Why have several unused copies of the same book in the family and still buy another one for the youngest student? Same with robes. Rons dress robes are second hand, but Mrs W says that Arthur has some for parties so why not lend him those (with some magically performed alternations if needed) rather than pod out for horrible second hand ones? Actually, thinking further, Mrs W is supposed to be a whizz at household stuff so why doesnt she transfigure the second hand stuff to look better?

They just throw good money after bad!

Another Lupin here! Smile

BellaTheGooseIsDead · 02/09/2013 20:01

Luna would be cool. Has anyone got her yet? Or prepared to do the test as Luna and see if the test is accurate?

AmazingDisgrace · 02/09/2013 20:19

I'm Grindelwald. Harry Potter is my polar opposite. Sulking a bit as I was hoping for Bellatrix. Still either way you look at it I'm bad assWink

BrittaPie · 02/09/2013 20:40

Dobby! Cheeky buggers.

You are Dobby, a House Elf that was previously enslaved by the Malfoys and now works as Hogwarts kitchen employee. Dobby is silly and docile, but also daring. Belonging to the Malfoys for so many years has hardened him to the point where he fights endlessly to stand up for what he believes, and no amount of violent threats can scare him into running away. In terms of friendship, though, Dobby is exceptionally faithful. He is definitely a character who grows a great deal throughout the series, seeing as his attitude changes from one of fear to one of fearlessness. You and Dobby are similar in the sense that both of you are somewhat crazy, though in actuality quite endearing. It is likely that you have a good amount of friends, and the reason they enjoy your company is because of your unfailing optimism. Sure, you can be a little weird sometimes, but in the end it is your heart of gold that draws people to you. What?s funny is that you don?t even really care about others? opinions; you appreciate a compliment every now and then, but you mainly live for yourself. You want to soak up every joyful moment that life gives you so that you can remember the good times over the bad.

In short, you are more:

Impulsive than cautious

Mature than immature

Modest than arrogant

Weird than normal

Extroverted than introverted

Although I have just left XH, so maybe he was my Malfoys and now I get to be all brave and die? Hmm
Tbh, it probably is quite accurate - the only thing that surprised me was that it said I'm modest :-D

I'm Gellert Grindelwald, the most evil wizard in history before HWSNBN came along. Happily, my polar opposite is Potter Grin

DefiniteMaybe · 02/09/2013 22:52

I got Voldemort with Ron as my polar opposite Grin

BellaTheGooseIsDead · 02/09/2013 22:52

"Gellert Grindelwald, the most evil wizard in history before HWSNBN came along"

THANK YOU!

Has anyone admitted to being Bellatrix yet?

Bogeyface · 02/09/2013 22:53

Right, just checked and Potter paid 7 Galleons for his wand.

He paid 10 Galleons each for 3 pairs of Omnioculars at the Quidditch world cup for him, Ron and Hermyown.

What was stopping him from buying Ron a new wand as a joint birthday and Xmas present? Apart from it would have ruined the story re Lockhart/Chamber of Secrets etc.

Seems to me that he is only sure of the Weasleys refusal of financial help when it suits him! So they are profligate and he is stingy, but with flashes of "look at me!" spending. Interesting dynamic.....

Did I mention I over think things? Blush

Just seen this thread but it's cheered me right up Grin

And I love the fact that as adults, Harry and Ginny and Ron and Hermione's families do not have any financial problems and their kids don't have to have anything second hand. Grin

MrsWeasley · 02/09/2013 23:03

BrittaPie I would love to be Dobby. more weird than normal Grin

Bogeyface · 02/09/2013 23:08

Penguin do you get the feeling that Ron would be the OTT dad that says "yes" to everything because he still carries scars of those dress robes? And Hermyown lets him because she was an indulged PFB?

Whereas I suspect Harry and Ginny are the "earn your pocket money and save up" parents, causing much bad feeling between the Potter and Weasley cousins :o

Bogeyface · 02/09/2013 23:09

MrsW I am either Dobby or Narcissa depending on my mood, not sure which I prefer tbh :o

THANK YOU!

Being as arrogant and cunning as I am, these results do not surprise me Wink

merrymouse · 02/09/2013 23:12

I suspect Ron was keeping quiet about the wand as it was broken during the car stealing incident.

Seems a bit rough that he had a hand me down wand in the first place though.

AnyoneButLulu · 02/09/2013 23:16

I'm McGonagall. Definitely not complaining about that.

BellaTheGooseIsDead · 02/09/2013 23:17

Some people are keeping their results a secret.

Fess, please.

Sorry for the snogging OP Blush

Bogeyface · 02/09/2013 23:19

I would love to be McGonagall. Have you read her back story on Pottermore?

I ended up kicking the kids off the PC when I was helping them just to read that. It is heartbreaking, and explains why she has such a strict but kind attitude to her house.

MissBartlett · 02/09/2013 23:42

McGonagall too. DH said it's no surprise:). Loving all the HP threads - have turned both dc into potterheads just so I have an excuse to reread/watch all the books/films!
