I won't say which side of the fence I fall on until I've had some responses!

But essentially, do you share your food or are you a bit territorial about it?

If your DCs want what you have ordered in a restaurant instead of what they have ordered, would you swap?

Would you swap with your DP if they weren't keen on their meal?

If you are having a piece of cake etc would you offer others a bite of it?

Share it.

DragonMamma · 07/06/2013 18:23

I'm a sharer and I love sharing different dishes with whoever I'm out with.

WireCat · 07/06/2013 18:24

I would certainly share with my children, husband or sister

No one else though.

Would hate to go for tapas with friends.

Or when people go for Indian/Chinese & want to share dishes.

Other than poppadoms!

BriansBrain · 07/06/2013 18:26

I share, I like to have a taste of different foods.

DH only eats because he has to so I tend to order for both of us a d then share both meals.

ThingummyBob · 07/06/2013 18:26

I share, not even much fussed by who with.

Sharing is nice Grin

Oblomov · 07/06/2013 18:26

One of my friends goes mad if anyone touches her plate, I.e. Tries to steal chip.
I offer a bite of cake/ cookie. Would you like to taste my pudding - offers large spoonfull. But only one. No more.
No I wouldn't swap.

NoMine · 07/06/2013 18:26

Share.

When we go out to eat all four of us dip into one another's plates (with permission, obviously) and we like going places were the food is a bit more communal such as tapas or Chinese with lazy susan in the middle of the table.

It's part of the fun of good food and good company, isn't it? Trying a bit of everything and all sort of gathering round to literally share a meal.

Generally share it.

Although I'm 7 months pregnant and have recently started becoming more territorial. Blush

MrsCampbellBlack · 07/06/2013 18:27

I will share because I know that's the right thing to do.

But honestly, I really don't want to.

OwlinaTree · 07/06/2013 18:27

Have a DH who hates to share food. He would rather buy a portion of chips for me to have one of than give me a chip from his own!

He shares everything else tho!

scarletforya · 07/06/2013 18:27

JOEY DOESN'T SHARE FOOD!

overmydeadbody · 07/06/2013 18:28

Yes I would swap food with my DS or DP, and with my sisters and brothers, but only if I thught I would like what they had ordered.

If I have cake I would probably eat it quickly before having to share it, or make sure there was enough for them to get their own slice.

I'll give them a taste of something I have ordered if they give me a taste of theirs. Fair#'s fair

overmydeadbody · 07/06/2013 18:29

If someone else hasn't ordered pudding or a started I don't see why I should have to share mine with them though.

FoofFighter · 07/06/2013 18:33

Feel my food, feel my fork!!

I won't share, but it is mostly because I'm veggie and most of my friends/family aren't. This means "sharing" inevitably ends up as them having some of mine but I don't get anything in return!

DonutForMyself · 07/06/2013 18:36

scarlet Grin that has been said!

I'm the territorial one, DP shares everything and would happily swap his meal for someone else's (his DC, me - presumably anyone he loves) if they weren't enjoying it, even if he was really enjoying his.

He thinks I'm a bit mean-spirited because I feel really annoyed when someone wants to share my food. I don't mind offering the odd bite to try, but if it is repeatedly I get a bit resentful.

Funnily enough, I'm happy to share with DP, but I don't share so readily with my DCs (or with his).

I wouldn't like someone else taking food from my plate unless I offer but I have no issue with offering a taste.

DonutForMyself · 07/06/2013 18:37

Foof I'm going to remember that one!

FoofFighter · 07/06/2013 18:39

Happy to share if it's sharing from a communal pile of food, like all dipping into different dishes at an Indian restaurant, or to pre-agree to share a dessert etc, but taking something off my plate, nuh uh!! OH is a bugger for this and then gets all territorial over his own, hence I have developed my lightning fast fork in knuckles skills ;)

DonutForMyself · 07/06/2013 18:39

I like meals where there are lots of dishes to try and happily share if its Indian/chinese etc. Its more of an issue for me when I have a single plateful of food and someone wants some of it, or if I'm having a Snickers or something and they want a bite.

OP posts:
DisappointedHorse · 07/06/2013 18:40

I don't like to share it generally, I don't mind swapping a taste but that's it! I chose my own food, I don't want yours. Unless its Tapas which is totally different.

I once stabbed my Dad in the had with my fork when he tried to steal the last mushroom on my plate.

DonutForMyself · 07/06/2013 18:40

Want to go out for dinner with me Foof? You sound like my ideal dinner date!
