... to be tired of the Goady Fuckers?

MmeLindor · 31/01/2013 10:00

Is it just me or has there been an increase in goady thread derailing in the last couple of weeks? It seems even the most innocuous of threads are being deliberately diverted by posters who only post offensive or ridiculous comments then refuse to back down.

Here's what I use MN for:

Support
Advice

Activism and feminism
Bloggers chat
Politics

Not to have arguments with Goady Fuckers who are sitting at home delighted to have got us all off topic.

A lot of threads I've been on in the past few days have been taken completely off topic or detailed. Have we been invaded MNHQ or is it the work of a couple of fuckwits individuals?

Who wants to join me in an Anti Goady Fucker Campaign?

I vote that when someone tries to derail a thread that we all ignore and do a mass report to MNHQ. They are fed up hearing from me in the past weeks.

I do think there's a very fine line though, MmeLindor.
One person's 'goady fucker' is another person's someone who just happens to disagree.

FloatyBeatie · 04/02/2013 10:40

Agree, LadyBeagle. Best just to stick with the term "troll" and not multiply terms that can be used to make outsiders of people who may or may not come into the category "troll".

MmeLindor · 04/02/2013 10:40

LtEve
Just cause a poster has no posting history, doesn't mean she's a GF. People namechange all the time to protect their identity.

Yes, I can see that LadyB - of course it is subjective - but that is why posts should be reported to MNHQ instead of accusing the MNetter of being a GF on the thread.

That's a good question, Getorf. I've noticed there are posters who seem to love to take opposing positions. Maybe they are just as obtuse and fecking annoying in RL though

TrampyPants · 04/02/2013 10:47

Lteve, people nc for a variety of reasons. Some people just change a character to render AS harder for stalky types. On the thread you are referring to, I know one of the nced disagree-ers that was called a GF simply for ncing before posting (apparently you can't nc anymore, who knew) and disagreeing witha particular poster who is a lot like marmite. She nces regularly for personal reasons. Yet that was being spun as her being a coward and a GF.

GetOrf · 04/02/2013 10:48

They probably are MMel. Incredibly annoying. If I wanted to talk to obtuse twats I could just have a chat with my colleagues. Grin

badtemperedaldbitch · 04/02/2013 10:48

It seems even the most innocuous of threads are being deliberately diverted by posters who only post offensive or ridiculous comments then refuse to back down.

But that might be thier honest opinion!

I have been on a couple of threads lately where peopel have been hugely polarised opinions to me.... and i dont mind that they have a different opionion but i do mind when they tell me i'm stupid or wrong for holding that opinion.

GetOrf · 04/02/2013 10:49

Yes lots of goady fuckers on that deleted thread Lteve.

You couldn't tell where the goadiness started and the fuckerness stopped.

Lots of namechanger goadiness but then also a lot of regs seemed to post in agreement with the goaders.

LtEveDallas · 04/02/2013 10:50

Oh no I know that, but if I search a poster because I'm surprised at the nastiness or bile they are spewing at someone, and see that the nastiness is the only thing they have posted - ie their first posting is on that particular thread, then surely it's more likely to be a GF than not?

shutthebloodydoor · 04/02/2013 10:51

mme join me up!!!!!! just came across this thread. ooh it really gets my goat when people 'read between the lines' in other words make shit up! Where is the light hearted ness gone?? I actually feel like some time there is a robed, hoodied group from the dark side that are ready to condemn u to death over what flavour crisps u eat!

Torch burners and the mob to the left, normal peeps to the right please!

GetOrf · 04/02/2013 10:51

Some people have very strong opinions which sound ;ike they are the oracle when they have no substance to back it with.

I remember a thread about migraines where someone came on and was very rude to teh OP, saying if you had a migraine you couldn't do x, y, z. Only when people refuted this did she say that she had never had a migraine in her life. Why give strong advice about migraines when you know bugger all about it?

TrampyPants · 04/02/2013 10:54

If the only thing they are posting under a name is an attack, then yes, GF imo. But if their first post is aimed at the op and the row is secondary but takes over then they didn't nc to goad, they nced to post and it happens that a row occurred

MmeLindor · 04/02/2013 10:58

Ha. Getorf. What a knob.

I know one of the posters on that thread and she is not a GF. She disagreed with someone else but was called a GF.

The reason I started this thread was to draw attention to this type of trolling in the hope that people would spot it when they saw it.

I think I have created a monster.

FWIW I didn't think you were a GF on that thread fuckadoodle, you and several others agreed with what a NC goady fucker pointed out (with good reason, actually).

I think I am talking in non sequiturs. Grin

oooh, lets not carry the argument from the other thread over here please. We've managed to have a good discussion here without the thread getting deleted.

It depends on how you read it.

I saw victim-blaming too, the fact that the op was a troll is a red herring, she was treated appallingly with "well you didn't leave" "maybe he got fed up of you crying" etc...

But if we continue discussing specifics this will be deleted.

MmeLindor · 04/02/2013 11:07

Right. Stop it right now.

This is a general discussion about trolls and their funny ways. Not to discuss specific threads. I don't want this deleted.

OP posts:
fuckadoodlepoopoo · 04/02/2013 11:08

Getorf. Smile yes that's right i was of the same opinion, but got lumped in with the gf's for discrediting purposes, which is why i think the term could be quite tricky. It could easily be used to try to shut up those that disagree with a horrendous thing a poster has just said or similar circumstances.

fuckadoodlepoopoo · 04/02/2013 11:11

Lindor. Apologies. I noticed i had already been refered to earlier in the thread so didn't realise.

fuckadoodlepoopoo · 04/02/2013 11:12

Agreed on all points trampy. It is annoying when threads get deleted.

GetOrf · 04/02/2013 11:12

SORRY I started the discussion about that thread. Let's just leave it. It was deleted because the OP was a troll anyway so not worth discussing probably.

MmeLindor · 04/02/2013 11:15

S'alright. I did bump this thread after reading that one, cause I was concerned that 'Goady Fuckers' was being used to stop debate, and that is not what I intended when I started this thread.
