To think think that everyone except me gets a Christmas Bonus! (light-hearted)

So, I give the following people something extra at Christmas:

child-minder
hair-dresser
milk-man
bin-men

Where is my Christmas bonus? I don't think I have ever had one & I've been working for 22 years (longer if you count Saturday jobs).

Anyone else never had one? Does anyone get one?

I used to get one with my old employers so for about 18 years I did - this employer, 6 years on - nothing - you are not alone OP

Meandmycats · 19/12/2012 15:53

I got a box of Roses

Leafmould · 19/12/2012 15:54

Not in the voluntary sector you don't.

GreenShadow · 19/12/2012 15:54

Nor the Publlic Sector

EasilyBored · 19/12/2012 15:56

I work in the voluntary sector too. My boss usually gets me something from her (a small voucher or a bottle of wine or box of chocolates, that sort of thing). An actual bonus?! Hahahaha! I work for peanuts and pat on the back as it is!

EuphemiaInExcelsis · 19/12/2012 15:56

Never had one in my puff.

Lottapianos · 19/12/2012 15:56

I work for the NHS. I get nowt. One year we were told the trust was in a generous mood and wanted to 'acknowledge everyone's hard work' and so we would be getting a bonus. We got the grand total of five pounds each. Shock

Would have preferred nothing. We put it all together and sent it to Oxfam. Should have told the bosses to wipe their butts with it instead.

MyDaydream · 19/12/2012 16:00

I got one in my first ever job working in a newsagents, it was just whatever customers had put in the tip box in December split between all the staff, usually about £5. Never had one since.

nickelbabylyinginamanger · 19/12/2012 16:02

i don't get one either

WheresMyJinglingCowBells · 19/12/2012 16:05

I don't get one and never have.

carocaro · 19/12/2012 16:05

I'm confused, never heard of this things 'christmas bonus', must be something from the victorian times....

Hopengloooooooooooooooria · 19/12/2012 16:06

Nope, Universities aren't big on giving out bonuses

FuckityFuckFuck · 19/12/2012 16:10

I get one Xmas Grin

In fact, I get 2! One from the boss (last year was £20) and one from the tip jar on the bar (last year was about £10)

It makes a nice change after being a civil servant for years and never ever getting so much as a thank you

designerbaby · 19/12/2012 16:14

On the back of this I have decided to give myself a Christmas bonus (self employed). So on the one hand, yay! I can splurge! Shop til I drop! Buy SHOES, or something similarly Not For The Children.

On the other, profits are down, best tighten my belt, batten down the hatches, lower the children's expectations etc.

Grin Hmm Confused

WelshMaenad · 19/12/2012 16:16

I don't get one.

I did, however, get a hug from a service user last week, who told me that I had really helped her at a low moment and that she loved me because I was so easy to talk to.

Best bonus ever Grin

BigShinyBaubles · 19/12/2012 16:16

Hold on, got something exciting to tell you....Im getting a WHOLE satsuma at work tonight!!!!
I must be the luckiest girl in the world

NotActuallyAMum · 19/12/2012 16:18

I went into our local Post Office earlier, I kind of 'know' the woman who works in there because I use it so much through work. She asked if I was getting a Christmas bonus. My reaction was a much too loud "Ha HA HAAAAAAA!!"

Felt a right prat I did Xmas Blush

GhostShip · 19/12/2012 16:18

I get nothing.

I've also had to work 2 extra days just so I could have boxing day and christmas day off - despite them being closed anyway.

thecook · 19/12/2012 16:27

Ghostship How mean.

I got a wad of free stamps (work for the Post Office).

Heavensmells · 19/12/2012 16:30

My company sent the staff at our shop which is making profits a box of roses. To share between 3 of us. Yay!Hmm

FelicityWasSanta · 19/12/2012 16:32

I got £15 quid in iTunes vouchers and a bottle of wine- out of my bosses pocket (because he's kind) does that count?

PinkFairyTaleOfNewYork · 19/12/2012 16:33

I get nothing (NHS)

GrandPoohBah · 19/12/2012 16:35

I used to work for a well known turkey supplier, and got a bonus each year.

It was a turkey.

OscarPistoriusBitontheside · 19/12/2012 16:37

Acquaintance of mine gets a Xmas bonus. Never mind that the social housing company they work for has plenty of properties in bad state, riddled with damp etc.

Timeforabiscuit · 19/12/2012 16:38

I get a staff day (extra days holiday) - actually thought they might try cancelling Christmas this year...
