So, I give the following people something extra at Christmas:

child-minder
hair-dresser
milk-man
bin-men

Where is my Christmas bonus? I don't think I have ever had one & I've been working for 22 years (longer if you count Saturday jobs).

Anyone else never had one? Does anyone get one?

We dont get one, we are self employed and in fact it the opposite we get so many people this time of year saying:
"ill pay after christmas"or the best "im sure you understand money is a bit tight this time of year" - uh yeah because of people like you perhaps??

Dh (private company) chocs, booze, money and told to take me out for a meal paid for by the company. Me (nhs)......nowt! Tbh though it's public money so I really don't expect anything. I'm always touched when our patients give us chocs and biscuits and cards Grin

PepeLePew - I would have thought that the hamper and bonus was your [and the other director's] thank you for the hard work of your staff over the past year. So your staff might not think to email a thank you for your thank you gift iyswim?

I am sure they were still grateful though and it is so vital for staff morale to feel appreciated and valued.

It's a real shame that more companies and employers don't realise this.

My DHs Christmas gift or bonus this years was quirky to say the least.

It was a tin of pilchards... a small tin Hmm

No, not a joke either, head office in their wisdom decided this was an appropriate thank you to their project managers and technical staff working on major high profile engineering projects in central London.

I was truly gobsmacked!

But we've also had a good laugh about it, so made us merry in a roundabout sort of way I guess Xmas Grin

£20 extra this month.

I've never had an Xmas bonus in private sector or local government.

The best we got was chocs from the boss, or when in private sector we would share any gifts from suppliers.
