To think think that everyone except me gets a Christmas Bonus! (light-hearted)

PostBellumBugsy · 19/12/2012 15:50

So, I give the following people something extra at Christmas:

child-minder
hair-dresser
milk-man
bin-men

Where is my Christmas bonus? I don't think I have ever had one & I've been working for 22 years (longer if you count Saturday jobs).

Anyone else never had one? Does anyone get one?

Yup, no Christmas bonus in the NHS. (We did get a coffee morning with some mince pies, but I missed it anyway because I had to be at another hospital that morning).

TalkinPeace2 · 19/12/2012 16:39

Self employed. No bonus, and no income over Christmas.

Flossiechops · 19/12/2012 16:41

Nada here either. Nhs worker, used to get half a days annual leave for Christmas shopping. Last year though they pulled it due to 'the current climate'.

MadSleighLady · 19/12/2012 16:41

I once worked somewhere where we all got a £50 John Lewis voucher. Xmas Shock Which I thought very handsome. I was very junior and on a low salary so was much appreciated - bought a posh grown-up feather duvet with my first one.

Think bonuses everywhere have disappeared these days, haven't they?

FunnysFuckingFreezing · 19/12/2012 16:41

I used to get 2 weeks wages as a bonus plus the possibilty of an extra bonus. One year I got about 5k.

I now get £200 if I'm lucky. Boo

CMOTDibbler · 19/12/2012 16:43

I don't get one, and neither does dh.

COCKadoodledooo · 19/12/2012 16:43

Nowt here. The organisation has had a bunch of redundancies this year though so I look on still having my job as a bonus!

bedmonster · 19/12/2012 17:08

Nothing (sahm!) But never had one when I did work. Dp is self employed and his clients have been giving him crates of beer and bottles of wine this week.
My sil has just received a 1k bonus. I am sulking.

Never had one. Ever.

WelshMaenad · 19/12/2012 17:17

Dh gets his bonus in February. Not really sure why!

I used to get one when I worked in banking, they used to throw bonuses at us all the time before they made us all redundant

Dogsmom · 19/12/2012 17:17

I'm lucky and have very generous customers who give me tips and presents, it's all very much appreciated too.

DH works in a car accident repair centre and gets nowt, his stingy boss is also making them work all day saturday if they want xmas eve off despite the fact all the suppliers will be closed so they wont be able to get half the work done anyway.

AmazingBouncingBabyJesus · 19/12/2012 17:21

Once upon a time we were able to build up our bonus by hitting targets.

Now we don't get any bonus. (well I don't even work there anymore)

DameMargotFountain · 19/12/2012 17:24

DH works for a huge multi-national

he gets a small voucher for M&S which we usually spend on luxuries like fresh veg and reduced food in early Jan

meddie · 19/12/2012 17:35

NHS so no bonuses for us. we did once get an hours pay docked for splitting shifts on Christams day, with the lates coming in an hour later and the earlies going home an hour early. Think Grinch works at our hospital.

catsmother · 19/12/2012 17:48

Also self employed - no bonus, no pay, could work through Xmas if I wanted but figure that as I've only had 3 days off this year I deserved a little more time off (though can't really afford them).

Years ago I used to get a regular Xmas bonus of around £400, back in late 80s/early 90s which was great for presents & food. My last job for some reason we always got champagne - guess you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth but I hate the stuff - years later DD's school fete benefitted to the tune of 8 bottles.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 19/12/2012 17:51

My boss brought brioche from Lidl in today. Does that count?

WelshMaenad · 19/12/2012 18:00

Hell yes, lidl brioche is fucking gorgeous.

littleladyindoors · 19/12/2012 18:01

I work for my parents in retail- just asked my dad what my bonus is- he got one today from his job (he is a consultant) and he said the ability to work next year Hmm he is joking fortunately, he couldn't do without me!! and my other role is a museum curator, we are lucky to have heating, altho I got a lovely gift from a lecturer of students I gave a talk too so that was unexpected and sweet.
Hubby doesnt get a bonus either- public sector

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 19/12/2012 18:03

I think most people get nothing. I work for a charity, we don't get one. Before that I worked in a school no bonus there either.

cathers · 19/12/2012 18:05

Also self employed in private healthcare sector. I usually get a couple bottles of wine, maybe some chocs, book tokens from lovely patients which is very gratefully received.

AuntieMaggie · 19/12/2012 18:06

Public sector here too and no bonus... DP works private sector and no bonus there either

I used to work for a construction company and used to come home with boxes of wine, chocolates, etc

GrimmaTheNome · 19/12/2012 18:08

No bonus ever, and because I work from home I get the emails from the office about how everyone else is getting a bottle of wine and happy hour and kids party but none of the goodies. Which if I didn't also get the emails about the awful traffic jams round said office might make me feel a bit bah humbug Grin

Chottie · 19/12/2012 18:12

Not me either, DH works for a private company and he gets a bonus and a slap up meal in a nice restaurant.
