To think think that everyone except me gets a Christmas Bonus! (light-hearted)

PostBellumBugsy · 19/12/2012 15:50

So, I give the following people something extra at Christmas:

child-minder
hair-dresser
milk-man
bin-men

Where is my Christmas bonus? I don't think I have ever had one & I've been working for 22 years (longer if you count Saturday jobs).

Anyone else never had one? Does anyone get one?

I work in public sector and get nothing.

DH works in private sector and gets...nothing.

Maybe we shoud give ourselves a Xmas Biscuit (each).

FairyChristmas · 20/12/2012 15:57

should Xmas Blush

TooManyQualityStreet · 20/12/2012 15:59

I've never had one either but to be fair i've been self employed for the last 20+ years.

Have given our staff member a nice big bnus though Xmas Smile

TooManyQualityStreet · 20/12/2012 16:00

bonus!

agedknees · 20/12/2012 17:13

I have had hugs and kisses from lots of my patients this week. Nowt from my employers (NHS).

Or does the flu jab count as a bonus? Xmas Smile

Glittertwins · 20/12/2012 17:17

I get nothing as far a bonus is concerned. Company paid for Christmas do and boss gave me a bottle of wine though.

BionicEmu · 20/12/2012 18:31

I work in a path lab for the NHS, so I get nothing. Not even a subsidized Christmas party.

I used to work in a smaller path lab at a different hospital, there were 10 lab staff & 5 consultant pathologists, and every Christmas the consultants would each get us a bottle of wine out of their own pockets, that was really lovely.

DH is a contractor, so gets no bonus or annual leave, so we lose money.

Fiendishlie · 20/12/2012 21:27

I got a £10 DLA Christmas bonus.
Whoopy-fucking-doo

KenDoddsDadsDog · 20/12/2012 21:36

Never had one in my puff
But I like to buy stuff for DDs nursery teachers etc.

GobHoblin · 20/12/2012 22:13

Very lucky here, spent 20 odd years as a hairdresser and spoilt rotten. Now work in a large retail chain and receive a few hundred quid bonus at xmas and summer. I appreciate it very muchly!

F0xyLady · 20/12/2012 22:31

Public sector here too. We get nowt.
My Xmas bonus this year is a job interview for my own job, with possible redundancy notice on the 31st Dec :(

storynanny · 20/12/2012 23:02

No bonus in 35 years of teaching, but sharing lead up to christmas with little ones so many times is priceless.

ILoveApples · 20/12/2012 23:22

I don't even get a pat on the back mean fuckers

Pontouf · 21/12/2012 06:46

NHS here too so nada. However a good friend if mine gets a pretty good bonus (several hundred quid) and is taken out for a very expensive all expenses paid meal by her employers. During the year they get huge incentives for hitting targets - one year they were all taken to Dubai for a holiday. However when she had her daughter she was given absolutely no mat pay from her employer - she just got SMP, despite the fact that she is one level down from the directors who both had 9 months off full pay when they had their children. I would honestly rather have the good NHS mat pay deal, pension and to a certain extent job security than everything my friend gets from her job.

gindrinker · 21/12/2012 08:05

I get a bonus but not at xmas.
Old job we got £50 of vouchers, until last year. Was the final straw which led to hunting for a new job (I'm pretty sure all the other teams got one and we we're forgotton about)

daisydoodoo · 21/12/2012 08:13

Never used to (nhs) but now work for an IT company and we get a bonus which varies as its to do with machines that are scrapped and how much sold for over theyyear divided between the employees.

Was a nice amount this year not thousands or anything but enough to feel was worth getting it.

PepeLePew · 21/12/2012 08:17

We've had a tough year at work but managed to give everyone a hamper and a small bonus (£100). They get an end of year profit related bonus in July so this was a separate Christmas gift. And a lovely lunch and drinks. It does make a difference to people's motivation although my fellow director and I are slightly miffed that in a team of 15 only one person has emailed to say thank you!

StuntGirl · 21/12/2012 08:23

I've never got one either. My company give staff £5 each towards a Christmas do though, very generous of them Hmm

My boyfriend gets a bonus if the company makes profit. His company has also done FOUR different Christmas parties/events/nights out, all paid for by them. Am v. jealous!

LoopsInHoops · 21/12/2012 08:28

Last year DH was made redundant. A subcontractor who had worked with him until that turned up on xmas eve with a HUGE hamper of lovely food - not as a bonus but because he liked DH and knew our xmas would be tight. Xmas Smile

I got a bottle of wine and a company branded mug.

I don't have a haridresser or childminder or milk delivered, and I've never had any interaction with our bin collectors.

I've had a gift card for a clothing shop - which I can't use because I'm too fat! Maybe my boss is trying to gently nudge me in the right direction?

Festivedidi · 21/12/2012 09:30

I got a bottle of wine from my head of department and a chocolate orange from a pupil. There was also an 'end of term drinks' thing in the staffroom but I didn't go to that this year.

dinkystinky · 21/12/2012 10:03

Dont get a xmas bonus but do get a free extra day's holiday at xmas which is much appreciated!
