To think Kate Middleton should have kept her tits in

Surely she can't be unaware that she's one of the most photographed women in the world and there are paparazzi everywhere.
I know in an ideal lovely world she should be able to skinny dip in privacy, but in the real world I think she is being a bit naiive to go topless and then be so upset when the pictures are published

For those saying it was Kate's fault for being topless anywhere that's not her bedroom or shower, what would your view be if the photos were of her naked taken through a bedroom window? Or her getting out of the shower taken through a bathroom window?

Because, legally and morally, this is EXACTLY THE SAME. She was on private property, totally secluded, and completely out of the public eye. She was not on official business, and was enjoying personal time with her DH.

I haven't been quite so appalled by a thread and the views on it for a long time...

noddyholder · 14/09/2012 14:58

This is in a french mag I am sure if one of their lot came over here and got papped we wouldn't be bothered. They are not going to be as bothered as the british about her privacy as 'royal' means nothing to them and indeed to a lot of us. Why can't people just ignore it and it will go away

AttilaTheMeerkat · 14/09/2012 14:59

How did this photographer know that this couple were going to be at this private estate at that time?.

Am perhaps showing my age now but Fergie's toe sucking pictures were published by the UK press. That was the start of her very long downfall.

Catherine and William should not have made any comment but shown complete indifference.

PostBellumBugsy · 14/09/2012 15:05

Will The Duchess's boobs be appearing on page 3 of the Sun? Wink

noddyholder · 14/09/2012 15:06

Loving the shoulder shrugging french on the news just not getting what the big deal is!

HandyCock · 14/09/2012 15:07

Of course it's wrong that she was papped in this way - it's no one's business. Kate didn't want us all to see her topless, she didn't give her permission so why should someone make that decision for her? Closer publishing them is a cynical move capitalise on her current tour and it belittles and humiliates her. It's a "hahaha, we got you" - in manner of twatty men pulling up women's skirts or shouting obscenities at women in the street.

Anyone who watched any of the Leveson Enquiry will know how shitty it was for people to have their privacy invaded for salacious reasons. As Sienna Miller said when she was chased down the road by 30 men with cameras - take those cameras away from the men and you've got a criminal act.

Kate is not to blame. But anyone who buys the magazine and checks out the photos is part of the problem.

I can't get worked about the Royal family either way to be honest - but I do feel very sorry for this couple today. William lost his mum when he was so young and regardless of the "Paps weren't to blame the driver was" - but they still took pictures of his dying / dead mum. They were still there and part of this horrible accident. Imagine the two women you love being treated like fodder? It's crap.

noddyholder · 14/09/2012 15:09

There are no queues at the news stands in Paris but it would be a different story if it was printed here! I agree with the french editor she spoke a lot of sense.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 14/09/2012 15:12

The UK is a very small dot in this big wide world nowadays. No-one outside of the UK is going to take any notice whatsoever of the outcome of the Leveson enquiry. Goodness alone knows how much that has cost the UK taxpayer but that's another issue entirely.

How did the French press know they were going to be on holiday there?.

HandyCock · 14/09/2012 15:16

The editor is bullshitting! She wants it to be a big deal because it means more sales which is exactly the reason her magazine bought the pictures and published. She's being all "ahh what's the fuss, just a young couple in love" whilst privately overjoyed she's created such a fuss.

I know the leveson enquiry has no impact in France - I was pointing out that if the statements made revealed how upsetting this kind of thing can be and how outrageous / criminal the methods of the paps are.

Flatbread · 14/09/2012 15:17

If we have to be subject to excruciatingly detailed boring coverage of the royal wedding, then why not of the royal tits and bums?

Both provide vicarious gratification and entertainment to people.

Everyday, I am subject to a sychophantic, vacuous photo of the royal family doing something inane (going to a flower show etc) with a fixed plastic grin. Glad the French don't have the same grovelling attitude towards these people.

Anyway, from NYT

According to The Evening Standard newspaper, photographers, including local cameramen not linked to international paparazzi, said the couple were visible from a nearby road as they relaxed on a terrace beside a pool. Prince William appeared to be reading an iPad as Kate rubbed sun cream into his back, the newspaper said.

Closer magazine insisted there had been no breach of safety or security, according to The Evening Standard. ?If two public figures chose to strip off in full view of a public road then they can expect to be pictured, and they were,? an unidentified person at Closer magazine was quoted as saying.

The Daily Mirror quoted the editor of Closer magazine in France, Laurence Pieau, as defending the decision to publish the pictures. ?These photos are not in the least shocking,? he said. ?They show a young woman sunbathing topless, like the millions of women you see on beaches.?

noddyholder · 14/09/2012 15:19

It is a storm in a teacup. There are other pictures more intimate which the editor wouldn't publish but you can bet they will appear here But not tits nooooooooooooooo!

HandyCock · 14/09/2012 15:22

It's a storm in an (I assume) A cup. ho ho.

If Flatbread that's all true and it wasn't a pap in army gear camping out miles away with super long lens then that makes it a bit odd. What were the security thinking / doing.

QuickLookBusy · 14/09/2012 15:30

I don't think that's true for a minute Flatbread.

It's just the press putting out lies to justify what they are doing. They do it all the time.

PostBellumBugsy · 14/09/2012 15:30

Blimey Flatbread, I think you'll find those thousands of charities, that benefit from the presence of a royal to help raise their profile & fundraise, might be a bit disappointed to find themselves described as inane!!!! Most of the stuff royals do is to do with public service, however inane that may be. I'm sure they'd rather not have their photo taken endlessly - but for the most part they don't have a choice.

No-one pays attention to British legal enquiries?
I think the US does at least for some things.

diddl · 14/09/2012 16:00

"?They show a young woman sunbathing topless, like the millions of women you see on beaches.? "

Then why bother to take & print them?

?If two public figures chose to strip off in full view of a public road then they can expect to be pictured,"

YANBU

Breasts are disgusting

MyNeighbourIsStrange · 14/09/2012 16:04

That dirt track is a public road?

catwoo · 14/09/2012 16:07

To be fair there is a lot of criticism of Kate. But what about Will ? Having been brought up as heir to the throne ,he must have the Royal protocol engrained into him.He should have advised her of the risk of the paps getting a shot.

diddl · 14/09/2012 16:14

"He should have advised her of the risk of the paps getting a shot."

Perhaps he didn´t think that there was one.

Perhaps he did & she took no notice.

diddl · 14/09/2012 16:36

"That dirt track is a public road?"

Your guess is as good as mine-I would have thought that it was a private road within the estate & that anyone there would have been moved by security.

diddl · 14/09/2012 16:38

Also, if that´s the pool, it looks pretty secluded & set quite high up.

Perhaps aerial pics were taken.

thebeesnees79 · 14/09/2012 16:40

I would not get my boobs out anywhere other than my house (indoors might I add and not in my back garden)
she must have known there was a possibility pap would be lurking. I am sorry but she is very naive to think that no one would know they were there.

Sparrowp · 14/09/2012 16:43

Ah, a rooftop pool, with fine views from hundreds of miles around.

motherinferior · 14/09/2012 16:46

Just abolish the lot of them. Quite simple. Then they can prance about waving all the tits they like and nobody will give a stuff about Rather Boring Woman Goes Topless and we can all live happily ever after.

Also I would like pictures of George Osborne banned, please, whether or not he is in a state of undress.
