To think Kate Middleton should have kept her tits in

moogster1a · 14/09/2012 07:34

Surely she can't be unaware that she's one of the most photographed women in the world and there are paparazzi everywhere.
I know in an ideal lovely world she should be able to skinny dip in privacy, but in the real world I think she is being a bit naiive to go topless and then be so upset when the pictures are published

Maybe she is ''surprised and disappointed'' becuase she actually thought that the media had changed? Probably naive, yes. But after all the talk the media gave about giving them privacy maybe she thought they would actually do it?

catgirl1976 · 14/09/2012 07:59

I look forward to the day when the press realise that 'Woman Has Tits' isn't really much of a story

this

and

She should be able to dress up as a chicken and spank Will's arse with a spatula if she wished, in private, on holiday

Yama · 14/09/2012 08:01

I was listening to Radio 4 this morning. This non-story was about 7th or 8th in the news headlines. Came downstairs and am utterly saddened that it is the top headline on BBC tv news.

fluffyraggies · 14/09/2012 08:02

I don't agree she should have kept her tits in - OP. She can parade naked round London if she wants.

I do agree she's being naive to be surprised and upset to have her picture taken with her top off, is all.

LaurieFairyCake · 14/09/2012 08:04

I wonder too if it's not illegal Confused surely they can't just take pictures of someone going for a crap? or fucking?

Are we seriously saying that if there was a picture of William and Catherine having sex in the privacy of their bedroom then it would be published?

FrankelSaysRelax · 14/09/2012 08:05

OP YABU

Lubey you just made me spit my cornflakes out Grin

NormaStanleyFletcher · 14/09/2012 08:06

What plenty said

Northernlurkerisbackatwork · 14/09/2012 08:06

Presumably she takes her top off in her bedroom and bathroom too? Should she expect to be photographed there too? She was in the grounds of a private house beside a pool. She shouldn't have to think 'is there some grubbly little man with a long lens in the bushes'
There is NO public interest issue here. It's just intrusion and I'm sure she's very upset and Prince William even more so.

On a tangent......do people still sunbathe topless on holiday? haven't been abroad for years so don't know but back in the day it was de rigeur to get them out in Spain, France and Greece. Am wondering if things have changed.

fluffyraggies · 14/09/2012 08:08

Hmmm. Does being outside the house make a difference to privacy laws? Genuine question.

I mean if she were photographed in her bedroom, or beside an indoor pool, for eg. would that be different to someone with a long lense taking pics of her in a garden?

AnnoyingOrange · 14/09/2012 08:09

LOL at woman has tits

fluffyraggies · 14/09/2012 08:11

While some people (the media) are willing to pay allot of money for pictures of celebs topless there will always be a man, or woman, grubby or otherwise, willing to take the pictures.

EnjoyGOLDResponsibly · 14/09/2012 08:11

I think in the middle of a 600+ acre estate surrounded by lavander field you'd be forgiven for thinking that you had a private moment.

YABU.

ledkr · 14/09/2012 08:12

The royals are all the same. Happy to enjoy all the status and wealth they have at public cost but moan when it works against them.

moogster1a · 14/09/2012 08:12

I did say that in an ideal world she should be able to dress / undress how she likes; and I agree that "woman has tits" is not a groundbreaking story. I also agree that in a nice world the paparazzi would leave her alone except when she's on official business, but... I think it's incredibly naiive for her to go topless ( yes yes, I know private place and all that) and then be upset when she is photographed.
Her best attitude would be to issue a statement along the lines of "yes, I have breasts" and brazen it out.Not to tell the world how upset she's been by scum.
Unfortunately, in the modern world, there will be photographers around all the time to publish pics. of the famous, whether it's morally right or not. Until it's cracked down upon, I don't think she should complain when she must have known it could happen

OP posts:
Northernlurkerisbackatwork · 14/09/2012 08:14

What ledkr - they should just suck up any intrusion should they? So nasty people with smutty minds can get their kicks from seeing the pics? That's part of their 'public duty' - wow didn't know that Hmm

Callisto · 14/09/2012 08:15

Nice thread title OP Hmm, and yabvvu also.

Ledkr - that is one of the more stupid things I have read on MN over the years. Well done.

Sirzy · 14/09/2012 08:16

I don't think wanting some privacy in the confines of your home/holiday home is a lot to ask really.

breadandbutterfly · 14/09/2012 08:16

YABVVVVU.

I would feel v violated to have naked pictures of me on sale around the world. She was in a private environment, not showing off. This should definitely be illegal.

Poor girl. She seems to work quite hard at being a royal and should be allowed time off to relax in private as she sees fit.

Do those who think this is fine also think it would be fine if someone bugs her bathroom and takes pictures of her on the loo or having a bath? No difference that I can see. Huge violation of privacy.

And those who think 'woman has tits' should not be a news story have clearly never seen the Daily mAil website - about 9/10 of 'news' stories are exactly that. Apparently this is still newsworthy to the male population, or male editors anyway.

Jacaqueen · 14/09/2012 08:16

As far as I know after her marriage she changed her name and is no longer known as Middleton.

I hope she looks at these photos and thinks, ' wow I look pretty good in these'.

I don't normally sunbathe topless, but one of the few times was when I was staying at a private villa in a remote location. That is normal behaviour. Cowering in the undergrowth for hours on end with a long angled lens on the off chance of catching a glimpse of someone's nipples is not.

fluffyraggies · 14/09/2012 08:18

Maybe she isn't surprised, disappointed or upset at all. Perhaps that's just the 'palace machine' churning this out.

Perhaps she just thought - 'bollox, i'm reasonably private here, i can't be accused of show-boating, i'm getting my boobs out, risky or not'.

valiumredhead · 14/09/2012 08:18

I agree fluffy

And how is it different from Harry's pics? He was photographed inside through a crack in the curtain with a long lens.

Sirzy · 14/09/2012 08:21

I thought Harrys photos where done by the mobile phone of someone in there.

I don't really see why either set of photos needed to be taken/published though

Morloth · 14/09/2012 08:21

God, I would love it if she stole the wind from their sails by shrugging and saying 'meh, its just boobs...'
