Ive wanted one for ages, it's my birthday soon so DP took me shopping and to the Build A Bear Workshop.
I felt like a right kid!
I chose a cream rabbit with floppy ears, took it to the nice lady who stuffed it and told me to chose a heart to put inside but kiss and make a wish first Blush
I was a bit spoilt for choice on the outfits but I chose some frilly socks, some knickers and a fluffy dressing gown.
Then I had to make her a birth certificate on the computer, I christened her Lola bunny.
Am I unreasonable or just plain weird to be so excited over a stuffed toy?!! :o

I would fully recommend these to anyone stuck on gifts at the moment!

I think it's very sweet and your DP sounds like a bit of a star.

This time last year I was going Hmm at DD (then 7) getting excited about her friend's BAB party, having never been before.

'Vanessa' is now like a second child. We converted the bottom of the airing cupboard into a bedroom for her, and will be having a Teddy Bear's picnic for her birthday next weekend Blush. The IL's have wholeheartedly embraced the madness and both have BAB's of their own and the three of them go on shopping trips together. I hope suspect I getting one for my birthday soon Grin.

Also in the married by 21 corner Hmm

Still happily married 11 years later, so why not? Confused

I'm thinking of taking the dc in this year on Xmas eve so they can have a gorgeous new friend to sleep with :) Will Xmas eve be too manic or should we go earlier?

GhostShip · 01/09/2012 07:43

Aw lovely stories!

It'd be manic! I'd defo go in before christmas time, mid week x

"Ok, seeing as you didn't get to be childish as a child, then I suppose it's okay."

That's big of you NameChangeGalore Hmm.

JustFabulous · 01/09/2012 08:14

JustSpiro - that is wonderful Grin.

CouthyMow · 01/09/2012 08:21

It's not childish, and nothing to do with age. My 84yo Granny loves Build a Bear, and now owns 14 of them!

She is itching to get one of the new Amur leopards that have recently come in, but her nearest one is 140 miles away.

My cousins and I have clubbed together and we have got £160 (there's 16 of us, all adult now, all put in £10) for her to spend in Build a Bear when she goes to Inverness next.

She's going to be a very happy Granny when she gets taken in there by our Granddad and given the money, it's been organised as a surprise for her!

Give your bear a cuddle, from me, my cousins, and my Granny!

JustFabulous · 01/09/2012 08:29

That sounds so lovely CM.

BikingViking · 01/09/2012 08:41

Well if you were living in our house you would B U because I feel like we're drowning in the feckers. But you're not, so that's fine.

On the other hand, if we're talking going to an indoor plaything (with lots of balls, twisty slides etc), then that's a whole other kettle of fish

JustSpiro · 01/09/2012 08:45

CM - that is really lovely. I suspect DD's great nana would have been joining in with us if she was still alive.

Have put a pic of Vanessa in her bedroom on my profile if anyone wants a nosey just to prove how BAB bonkers we are!

JustSpiro · 01/09/2012 08:47

Or you could check out her web page Blush. It was DD's idea. not mine - honest! Grin

LetUsPrey · 01/09/2012 08:57

My younger sister bought BABs for each of her nephews (my DC and their cousin) when they were born. The thought of her standing in a BAB shop and being asked to kiss a heart makes me Grin as her face would have been like this Hmm! Throw in lots of children, possibly being excitably noisy, and I suppose it makes it all the more special she went in to make them Smile.

LetUsPrey · 01/09/2012 08:59

Oh and YANBU.

Vanessa has her own bedroom, Spiro?

::in awe::

NettOlympicSuperstar · 01/09/2012 09:07

I love your website JustSpiroGrin

ItsaTIARA · 01/09/2012 09:37

I regret the day DD grew out of BABW, I got a huge vicarious thrill out of buying stuff there.

I don't have one myself, but I do have Lego Hogwarts, which was rather more expensive.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/09/2012 09:50

On our way to BAB in Brighton last week, we went past the Lego shop which has Lego Lord of the Rings.

::eggs you on::

JustSpiro · 01/09/2012 10:21

I will definitely be after a Lego Oakenshield for Christmas, Maud! Wink

DD's old bedroom wardrobe was the former airing cupboard and the little bottom section was full of junk anyway so it wasn't quite as OTT as it sounds to turn it into a bedroom.

Nett - thank you - it's DD's website, nothing to do with me. Very easy to set up and free - keeps her out of mischief. I was a bit Hmm about the idea, but she's not allowed to put personal details or photos of people on it and she enjoys doing it.

FriedEggs - this time last year I felt exactly the same way as you do about BAB. Your time will come - mwah ha ha ha! Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/09/2012 13:52

You don't say, Spiro!

GWenlockMaryLacey · 01/09/2012 14:02

I had a build a bear before it was build a bear (bear factory or something?). His name was Harvey and he was lovely and squishy. I was about 30... Alas now DD1 has claimed him and his lovely clothes are lost. I'm cross about that.

Shagmundfreud · 01/09/2012 14:02

YANBU

Took my rather camp 8 year old DS there a few weeks ago. He chose a camouflage bear, dressed him in a storm trooper outfit, and christened him 'Captain Cutie'. Hmm

JustSpiro · 01/09/2012 14:05

Maud, you knew I'd take the bait!

Shagmund your DS sounds ace!

KatieScarlett2833 · 01/09/2012 14:08

I got them for DC many moons ago.

I recorded "I love you DS/DD" in the heart speaker thingy.

They still have them Grin

StellarforStar · 01/09/2012 14:10

Shagmund, I love it!

I'm going to take DD and my DfDs there soon; maybe October half term when DfD2 is a bit older. I want to get them all one and I think i'm having one too!

Hopefully it'll be a nice time for them all and we'll take plenty of pictures.

fuzzpig · 01/09/2012 14:29

YANBU. Build a Bear not my kind of thing (most cuddly things I have are favourite characters that the DCs get me, like the Cheshire Cat) but nothing wrong with indulging your inner child! :)
