Ive wanted one for ages, it's my birthday soon so DP took me shopping and to the Build A Bear Workshop.
I felt like a right kid!
I chose a cream rabbit with floppy ears, took it to the nice lady who stuffed it and told me to chose a heart to put inside but kiss and make a wish first Blush
I was a bit spoilt for choice on the outfits but I chose some frilly socks, some knickers and a fluffy dressing gown.
Then I had to make her a birth certificate on the computer, I christened her Lola bunny.
Am I unreasonable or just plain weird to be so excited over a stuffed toy?!! :o

I would fully recommend these to anyone stuck on gifts at the moment!

Next to my bed is two cuddly toys I got when I was small. They are all I have to show I was ever a child apart from a handful of photos. I will never get rid of them.

DD let slip yesterday that I am indeed getting a BAB for my birthday Grin.

It's wearing its birthday suit as they didn't know whether I'd be going for a boy or a girl (he is going to be called Jasper)!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/09/2012 21:05

Led astray Inspired by this thread, we have been looking at all the BAB stuff on Ebay. DD asked me incredulously "Mummy, who would own 14 Build A Bears?" I dare not show her this thread.

JustSpiro · 03/09/2012 21:45

Ebay is good for unusual stuff, but the prices are similar to buying in store, even for some of the bulk lots.

I did manage to get Vanessa a pair of 'ruby slippers' for £2.50 though!

NarkedRaspberry · 03/09/2012 21:50

OK. You're still below the women with those horrible reborn dolls on the crazy scale.

JustSpiro · 04/09/2012 18:27

I would run a mile from any kind of doll - always have really disliked dolls - DD is the same.

avivabeaver · 04/09/2012 18:31

i took neice and nephew to make one for my sister.

by the time they had finished buying clothes, glasses and accessories it did look like a fair approximation of my sister ( and cost almost as much as her entire wardrobe)

JustSpiro · 04/09/2012 18:34

It is hideously expensive. I have started dabbling in making clothes. Am not very good but managed a miniature copy of the dress DD wore to her aunt and uncle's wedding, and a school dress for the bear we gave to her teacher at the end of term Smile.

firawla · 04/09/2012 18:36

I really want to go to build a bear! I am trying to train my dses to be interested in it, when I show them it in the shopping centre they are not too bothered so haven't really been able to justify taking them as its expensive and they are not interested - I hope one of them will show some enthusiasm one day so we can go get one.

I don't think its weird going with your dp to get one, I knew some of my friends had them off their dp's with recorded 'i love you' type messages on - thats fairly normal isn't it.
And what's so weird about being married at 20?

Fosgoldlady · 04/09/2012 22:20

My son still has his (Woofy and Tuffy) and he's well in his teens now. It's the bit about putting a "heart" in them that still makes me go all gooey Grin

ALittleScatterOfRain · 04/09/2012 23:05

YANBU. A couple of years ago there was a gorgeous Hallowe'en bear (this one) and I was very, very tempted.

I was given one from the Bear Factory when I was 11, and he still lives on my bed.

He's usually stays in his pyjamas/dressing gown now but I do have a bag with all his other clothes in and I sometimes go through it and dress him up. I still like to go in the shop now and look at the outfits Blush.

TheBolter · 04/09/2012 23:20

Yanbu, my dds love them, between them they have about 10. Dd2 is especially obsessed, she's just bought the new Hot Lights bear, with his clothes. I must admit they do look great when all dressed up.

Dd1 has the Kate Middleton engagement dress for hers.

They recently dressed one of our cats up in the army outfit, and then the karate one. They are pretty much cat sized, although his lordship wasn't too impressed. I might add the pics to my profile tomorrow!

I think it's lovely that you still get so much joy from buying a BaB, and I think it's especially touching when an 80 something granny gets excited by them still!

SailorVie · 04/09/2012 23:26

My DH got me a Build a Bear a few years ago. It says some very dirty things when it's tummy is pressed...Grin

Badgerina · 05/09/2012 00:22

YADBU Angry

I bloody hate Build a Bear

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/09/2012 09:11

::Arf:: at dirty-talking BAB!

fuzzpig · 05/09/2012 17:49

Thanks to this thread, today at work (which involved old council policy documents) I misread the phrase "build a better future" as "build a bear future" Blush

StrawberryTot · 05/09/2012 17:55

I'm afraid I'm with those that go with yep your weird, but yet again I find grown ups with soft toys in general weird and those that collect them, are out right freaks!!! Grin

McHappyPants2012 · 05/09/2012 17:58
