I loathe the summer especially when it's hot.

I hate been sweaty,
I hate BBQ's,
I hate the neighbours who are at this moment blasting Rhianna (sp?) while getting pissed

DP says im a miserable cow and i should be loving it, surely im not the only person like this or AIBU?

Panda I'll take your advice and mainline some ice cream Grin

teanosugar · 25/05/2012 12:48

I love - the hotter the better I say.

I've got loads of washing out (:( to the ironing later),
I love pottering in the garden
I'm going to get the dogs paddling pool out later
I love eating outside, bbq, sunbathing etc etc
I have a huge back garden, big fences and conifer screening and great neighbours (mostly retired)

Bring on a long summer heatwave

TheUnMember · 25/05/2012 12:49

How hot is it near you lot?

The thermometer on the sunnier side of my house says 35 C and the one on the north side says 30 C. Who ever said Sweden was cold.

BarefootShirl · 25/05/2012 12:56

Have just got the DCs paddling pool out and filled it up for after school - tempted to have a splash myself at the moment.

Buckingfiatch · 25/05/2012 13:42

I do like summer, just can't stand it being too hot.

I literally go into a panic even if I slightly sweat. And I panic and panic until I get into the shower and scrub clean myself. During these hot days, I have to think ahead. Make sure I have a fan on me where possible, clothes which allow for air to get to my skin, have wipes on me at all times etc. I just seem to have this (albeit I know deep down it is irrational and stupid) knee jerk reaction to sweat, even the slightest bit, it makes me feel SOOOOO dirty/filthy. I hate it. But I can't help it :/ I would live in the shower if I could.

Even in the winter, if the radiators are on and I get to the point I feel like my skin is getting clammy, I head straight for the shower and switch them off/open windows slightly.

But apart from that, I love the sunshine/rain/snow/storms. Each are fab in their own right.

Bunbaker · 25/05/2012 14:07

"I also look shit in summer clothes."

For the umpteenth time - People only look rubbish in the wrong summer clothes - wrong size , wrong colour or wrong style. There are cool clothes for every shape and size. You just have to look for them.

LadySybilDeChocolate · 25/05/2012 14:09

I also hate the summer. My shoes cause blisters, the flies really piss me off and I hate being hot and unable to cool myself down. I hate looking at the walking lobsters who smell sweaty.

MySweetPrince · 25/05/2012 14:10

YABU - a few weeks ago everyone was moaning about the constant rain...now it's sunny and warm people are complaining about that....dress accordingly and enjoy it - it won't last long.Grin

Sparklingbrook · 25/05/2012 14:11

I think I need Bunbaker to take me shopping. I am sure she's right. Smile

TheFlyingFishFinger · 25/05/2012 14:12

I only like summer when I'm abroad, it seems to be a dry heat and here seems to be a sticky sweaty heat.

Might be more due to the fact I'm running about in this heat but just lounge about on holiday.

But yes, I prefer English winters to summers.

TheCakePigeon · 25/05/2012 14:25

And i thought i was the only one! i hate the sun! i have freckles on my freckles runs away from a bee

Mindyourownbusiness · 25/05/2012 14:28

I hate it cos I cant wear my wedding and engagement ring - I puff up like a bloody er bloody puffy up type creature (cant think straight either obviously Grin).

I actually thought I would have to go to A&E last night my wedding ring went so tight and I only got it off after wrestling with it along with soap, hand cream and dental tape (dont ask! look it up on google ok!)arm up in the air on the bed for about an hour - I was nearly in tears.

Thing is some bright spark always says - 'ooh just have them made bigger' - in a 'duh' kind of voice - but then they slip off in the cooler weather- like I wouldnt have thought of that already Hmm grrrr.

No not a fan - get it - not a 'fan' - oh please yourselves.

ps - also makes me pricklier than a prickly type thing aswell though you'd never guess Grin.

Morello · 25/05/2012 14:30

YANBU. Wasps, sweating, having to have days out to boring parks etc to 'make the most of the weather...the list goes on. 20 degrees is about right.

LadySybilDeChocolate · 25/05/2012 14:32

It's horrible when it's too sticky-hot and you can't sleep. Roll on Autumn.

Sparklingbrook · 25/05/2012 14:37

Oh yes the pressure of going out in the heat. ie 'Why are you indoors on a lovely day like this?' Because it's too hot, I will get all sweaty and it's nice and cool in the house perhaps?

Topless men count today so far-3 Sad

SPsFanjoHarboursTRex · 25/05/2012 14:38

I hate this weather as it means my elderly male neighbour sunbathes in the garden in Speedos

He was at it yesterday laid on a lounger in all his glory.

Sparklingbrook · 25/05/2012 14:40

I don't get sunbathing at all. I thought you were going to say 'naked' SPs Shock

Ormiriathomimus · 25/05/2012 14:40

Yes, it's too hot. Sunshine, love it. Heat, no thanks. I just feel droopy and sweaty and lacking in energy. And running last night was torture,

hiddenhome · 25/05/2012 14:41

I hate applying the sun protection stuff. It's so greasy and horrible. I use a high factor because I burn easily, so I look all white after applying Confused

I also can't bring myself to wearing short sleeves because I hate my upper arms, so I have to wear longer ones and turn up, so I often feel too hot.

At least I have some prescription sunglasses for this year though. I love wearing them because I can glare at people without them seeing it! Grin

Ormiriathomimus · 25/05/2012 14:41

And no, I wasn't complaining about the rain. I like rain.

Sparklingbrook · 25/05/2012 14:42

I hate cooking in it as well. Sweltering hot kitchen, with the sun at the front in the evening. Sad

SarahBumBarer · 25/05/2012 14:43

8.5 months pregnant and loving it. I'm going to say "oh fuck off misery guts" to the next person who says "oh you must be miserable in this heat" to me.

YABU Buy some anti-perspirant and eat a salad Smile

SPsFanjoHarboursTRex · 25/05/2012 14:43

sparkling He might as well be. The Speedos must be his grandsons! They are obviously too small and any sudden movements he will be flashing his berrys!

Sparklingbrook · 25/05/2012 14:46

Ewww. i hope he's applying the sunscreen to everything that may be visible SPs.

SPsFanjoHarboursTRex · 25/05/2012 14:49

I have no idea but he is the colour of dark leather nearly Grin

I haven't been in the garden as he will make conversation with me while I'm just praying his berries don't wink at me
