Where has it gone? Just as I was about to start sprucing it up for the jubilee and start tatting the bunting?

< muffled singing from the herb drying shed> The party's overrrr it's time to call it a day. They've burst your pretty balloon and taken the moon awaaaayy.

The hall is going to go pooooff any minute. Cook has grown barnacles, and Rochesters leg has deathwatch beetle.

Poor Mini, singing all alone. I have been scouring the county for likely young gentlemen. Very poor pickings, I must say.

He seems potentially suitable, is pleasingly active and learned and expresses a refreshing interest in our tisanes. We shall have to train him out of his "shaken not stirred" aberration, mind.

Minimammoth · 26/10/2012 13:58

I think he needs a good thorough assessment of his skills and fitness.

Is it Halloween or is the hall normally this cobwebby, and what's this green goo? Cooks latest offering?

OP posts:
Fiderer · 03/11/2012 15:44

The Hall is unusually cobwebby. Think I'll avoid the goo.

If the Ladies and Gels don't return soon, the regiment will have left.

Or you, dear Mini, and I shall have to aid the officers with their manoeuvres, just the two of us.

Hullygully · 06/11/2012 11:28

Pore ol Hall

It will survive though.

it has shaken off it's deathly rattles afore now and always lives to host another Ball.

How doth ye denizens?

Jins · 07/11/2012 17:18

The Hall is still here!

Fabulous. I have been elsewhere tackling changes to Child Benefit and discussing casual racism and am exhausted

Is there any more tisane left in the pot?

Minimammoth · 08/11/2012 08:24

Alas the Hall disappeared from my scroll. Pull up a butler and rest your feet, Jins. We need a new tatting project.

Well allegedly Christmas is coming so we could have a go at tatting a new set of decorations. The old ones are looking quite shabby. I spent quite some time in the attics yesterday with the houseman and we agreed that the streamers are a little faded and the fairy has seen better days

Jins · 09/11/2012 09:50

What ho Hully!

You've been getting very offended recently and you've missed a really good thread to get offended on as well. Almost as good as the chocolate face one it was.

Have a tisane

HullyEastergully · 09/11/2012 15:00

bum

what one?

is it too late?

I have The Rage

Last post was yesterday so I guess it's getting to the end

MadameDefarge · 09/11/2012 19:43

groans from chaise longue. disturbs piles of cobwebs. returns to deep slumber

Fiderer · 10/11/2012 12:54

The Hall appears to be in hibernation so I am off to spend some time with Cousin Frederick in the Colonies. He has promised to show me new dance steps and I can have new gowns made for Yule.

The distillery herb-drying shed is packed to the rafters with seasonal tisanes and possets. Take care not to smoke in there.

Minimammoth · 11/11/2012 09:34

I am in hibernation. Hot water bottle check, chocolate check, tatting pattern check, massage therapist check, other winter warmers - suggestions anyone.

Lawks, but the try-outs for innocent, untried husbands for The Gels is keeping me busy day and night.

HoneyDragon · 15/11/2012 16:18
sybilvimes · 19/11/2012 14:25

What ho chaps! I see the platoon has retired for the winter, the pirates are in warmer climes and we are obviously all suffering from the winters doldrums.

Also, Madame Hully had me 'sewn in' to my woolly winter corset to prevent chills and it has put a serious crimp in seasonal gallivanting. If I cut myself free does anyone has a tatting pattern for a new one? I don't have much yarn so something both low and high cut would be lovely.

Jins · 19/11/2012 14:35

Nice pair of bloomers here

I daren't let you out of your winter corset. It was the gallivanting that Madame Hully was concerned about

sybilvimes · 19/11/2012 14:57

I had a pair of bloomers like that Miss Jins, Madame Hully declared them too skimpy and my current pair button onto my half boots and took the fleece of 3 sheep to make .

On a wet day the under gardener has to push me around in the wheel barrow, such is the weight of them. Fortunately he isn't as busy in the winter months and if I can escape find the time later, we are planning to partake in some autumnal leaf peeping. I may have to remove said undergarments so I can manoeuvre but I am sure such youthful and innocent excuse exercise will be acceptable to even the most strict matron.

Minimammoth · 22/11/2012 20:04

The moat is filling. Vin Chaud anyone.

OP posts:
Minimammoth · 26/11/2012 08:06

The sheep are sodden and I am concerned for Sybil in those fleecy bloomers, if she gets wet there will be tragedy mark my words.
