Absolutely disgusted at the way I have been treated, will be making this as public as I can... came here with a real problem, have been accused of being a liar and basically being bullied... cannot believe this site is still here!

PerryCombover · 18/04/2012 00:38

surely this is a thread about a thread darling

SarahStratton · 18/04/2012 00:38

Can't this wait until morning, I want to go to bed. :(

babyheave1662 · 18/04/2012 00:41

Perhaps an addendum to the note at the top of AIBU is needed. In big, bold letters. NOT FOR SUPPORT.

Or even NOT FOR NINJAS

perceptionreality · 18/04/2012 00:42

I am not sure what has happened but there are definitely some very unpleasant people on mumsnet recently. I've been here since 2004 and it has got worse (particularly on AIBU), but then the site has got bigger and there are some lovely posters too which is why I still use the site. Recently some malicious posters wrote some horrible stuff on a thread where I was asking what to do to help my daughter who had a tummy bug.

I suppose mumsnet is not immune from the more unpleasant characters in life just as anywhere else, particularly on the internet.

DidISayThat - it is upsetting at the time but just get any personal attacks deleted by emailing MN HQ.

DidISayThatOutLoud · 18/04/2012 00:43

Sorry Perry, is that not allowed? Just trying to see if anyone else has been put through this?

OP posts:
bobbledunk · 18/04/2012 00:43

Go somewhere else then, you can't just ban what you don't like.

PerryCombover · 18/04/2012 00:43

What I mean is please try to discuss whatever is happening on the thread where it is happening and not here where we have no idea.
Speak to anyone about unpleasant remarks there
If that doesn't help report posts and move on

I hope that this helps

SarahStratton · 18/04/2012 00:44

It was 1 poster. Nobody else was 'bullying'. Massive overreaction.

DidISayThatOutLoud · 18/04/2012 00:44

Sorry to hear that perception, I am literally sat here, in fucking tears, wondering if this was possibly the worst idea I ever had!!!!

OP posts:
bobbledunk · 18/04/2012 00:45

What was it about?

perceptionreality · 18/04/2012 00:47

Yes, even though it's just words on a screen from people you don't know, it can be very upsetting. But you will feel better and move on. Mumsnet is a great resource in many ways and I do believe the good outweighs the bad.

babyheave1662 · 18/04/2012 00:47

One poster was being an arse as far as I could see. Considering it was AIBU, you got lucky with one arse.

Report the posts to mnhq, personal attacks aren't allowed. Post elsewhere on the forum.

GrahamTribe · 18/04/2012 00:47

Will someone tell me please what the hell this is all about? What's made you feel so aggreived OP?

Starwisher · 18/04/2012 00:47

I do feel for you op as you got some weird posts on your thread, but about 2/3 were actually very nice.. Read back and its only 1 or 2 that are out of order

DidISayThatOutLoud · 18/04/2012 00:48

one poster, while you were all slagging me off on another thread... it only takes one person!! About my disabled hubby bobbledunk.

OP posts:
katnisseverdeen · 18/04/2012 00:48

I am Grin at the idea of it getting shut down because someone was mean to you

Ring ring ring ring "hello is that the headmaster of the internet?" "yes it is, how may I help you?" " well I went on mumsnet and bigger girls bullied me" "what?! Thats shocking, don't worry I'll deal with this"

Ring ring "hello is that mnhq? I'm the headmaster of the Internet, I have been hearing shocking things about your site young ladies, now come immediately to my office pull your trousers down and bend over while I fetch my cane, and I'm shutting your site down you naughty naughty girls. you've let me down you've let the Internet down and most of all you've let yourselves down"

Grin
Starwisher · 18/04/2012 00:49

I mean 1 or 2 posters, and the main one was pulled up quite a few times by a few posters

OhdearNigel · 18/04/2012 00:49

If you are referring to your other AIBU thread 1 person tried to makeout you weren't a newbie. 1. And almost all the other posts were telling her off for jumping to conclusions. It's hardly board-wide bullying is it ?

Hebiegebies · 18/04/2012 00:50

Try chat or general health or even relationships next time

It was really one poster

DidISayThatOutLoud · 18/04/2012 00:50

Star you are right, there were a lot of lovely people... maybe I'm over-reacting, and I am sorry for going off on one, just can't believe people would behave like that to a legitimate post... just speechless now. Sorry all, take care xx

OP posts:
realhousewifeofdevoncounty · 18/04/2012 00:51

I agree with you. I just read the thread.

katnisseverdeen · 18/04/2012 00:51

And I wasn't horrible to you op, I just think wanting to close down an entire site is a massive overreaction to one thread, no?

Starwisher · 18/04/2012 00:53

Hands up who's been flamed alive on mumsnet?
