Namechanger. Smile My DD, who is just 3 was playing upstairs early on. All of a sudden she let out an almighty shriek and screamed help. It was the sort of cry your child makes that makes you drop everything (in my case a knife and some lemons) and dash. I dashed up as she was running down the stairs. She literally jumped in my arms and looked terrified.

i asked her what was worng and she said that was a man in her room. I said whta did he look like, she said bigger than her with blue hair (she is unsure of her colours Grin) My first thought was ghost. Hmm I gave my DD, 10 the phone and said if I scream, take the others and run out of the house. Shock

Adrenalin took over and I ran upstairs and got my baseball bat Shock and searched every nook and cranny, no one there.

I came down and reassured everyone that it was probably the cat that spooked her whilst shitting it I asked DD what the man said, she said he said, this is my room and my bed.

reassure me please. Sad

Shock

What's the history of the house?

Destrier · 21/03/2012 22:25

A dream?

JaneFonda · 21/03/2012 22:26

It sounds like a case of an overactive imagination, really. :o

DeepPurple · 21/03/2012 22:27

She probably just imagined it. How long ago was it? Was she asleep?

You may, on the other hand, have a blue haired man ghost Grin

hauntingme · 21/03/2012 22:27

We are renting it far, I don't know the history but judging by the decor, I'd say it was an old person's house (inherited?)

Defintley not a dream , last time I checked on her she was happily playing.

Shit!!! That would scare me.

No advice, sorry. We have a ghost too but she/he is very shy, only visible in periferal vision (I know I spelt that wrong) and as soon as you turn to look directly at them, disappears. I found out after a few years of people laughing at me that our ghost is actually written up in a book of ghosts of London.

BukimiNoTaniGensho · 21/03/2012 22:29

Your first thought was ghost? Really ? Before imagination, in a toddler?

Um, ok.

WorraLiberty · 21/03/2012 22:29

Do you really need reassuring?

Kids imagine all sorts of things and shadows play tricks on their over active imaginations.

Though judging by past threads, you'll have 1 million and one anecdotes before long and someone will have called Derek Acorah Grin

hauntingme · 21/03/2012 22:31

Yes buk because she wa sterrified, like properly distraught.

Calamityboo · 21/03/2012 22:31

She probably imagined it, my ds is 2.6 and thinks his grandmas house has got monsters, nowhere else, just at hers, she only moved there a few weeks ago, and I think it is the new noises, shadow shapes, smells etc. Have you been in the house long?

hauntingme · 21/03/2012 22:32

terrified, that too. Grin

OP posts:
hauntingme · 21/03/2012 22:33

Ok, drip feeding now, sorry and all that. But I have stayed here on my own and been really scared. I though it was just my over active imagination but have since noticed even in the day, there is loads of banging coming from the attic.

Oh that makes it all real then... Grin

Calamityboo · 21/03/2012 22:34

Should add, he is terrified at her house, curls up in2 a little baby ball on the sofa, it is usually when the next door man is moving about!

hauntingme · 21/03/2012 22:34

yes worra I do.

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 21/03/2012 22:35

OP if you've been really scared, do you not think your DD has picked up on that?

I mean your 10yr old will have after you handed them the phone

hauntingme · 21/03/2012 22:36

I have just told DH to check the attic incase a man is living in there. Blush He ignored me refused.

OP posts:
hauntingme · 21/03/2012 22:37

No worra, they were away with DH when I stayed on my own.

hauntingme - those of us who have seen ghosts can understand how you feel. My 2 year old was very frightened and upset by a ghost for several months. It was particularly unpleasant and took some shifting.

The people who have never seen ghosts and don't believe in them will tell you it is your/her imagination.

If you are really worried, (and you know your own child), get in touch with your local spiritualist church and ask someone to come and check it out.

HTH

hauntingme · 21/03/2012 22:39

Thanks frogs thats just it, I do know my child. Smile I will do that if anything else happens, are moving soon.

OP posts:
hauntingme · 21/03/2012 22:39

northcountrygirl · 21/03/2012 22:39

Wow - just had a similarly spooky experience ourselves this evening.

I heard my eldest son (11) calling for me from the basement. He was stuck in the toilet down there as the door was locked from outside Confused. Have no idea why the thumb lock is on the wrong side of the door but it is. He was really upset and crying when I let him out so I did start shouting at eveyone else asking who had played such a cruel trick. Everyone else (DH, DD age 4 and DD age 11) denied doing anything. When I asked my son how long he had been trapped he said "about 5 minutes". We'd all been in the kitchen for at least 15 minutes eating dinner....

WorraLiberty · 21/03/2012 22:40

The people who have never seen ghosts and don't believe in them will tell you it is your/her imagination

Yeah but that works two ways doesn't it?

It's normally the ones who profess to be 'so sceptical but...' who actually claim to see them.

Then, some people take the piss and claim to have seen loads Grin

BukimiNoTaniGensho · 21/03/2012 22:42

uh-huh. And those of us who have seen unicorns and fairies and flying spaghetti monsters wonder why the rest of you don't believe in them.
