Namechanger. Smile My DD, who is just 3 was playing upstairs early on. All of a sudden she let out an almighty shriek and screamed help. It was the sort of cry your child makes that makes you drop everything (in my case a knife and some lemons) and dash. I dashed up as she was running down the stairs. She literally jumped in my arms and looked terrified.

i asked her what was worng and she said that was a man in her room. I said whta did he look like, she said bigger than her with blue hair (she is unsure of her colours Grin) My first thought was ghost. Hmm I gave my DD, 10 the phone and said if I scream, take the others and run out of the house. Shock

Adrenalin took over and I ran upstairs and got my baseball bat Shock and searched every nook and cranny, no one there.

I came down and reassured everyone that it was probably the cat that spooked her whilst shitting it I asked DD what the man said, she said he said, this is my room and my bed.

reassure me please. Sad

He could be under anybodys bed, really, or in a closet.

If he is a real man, he would hide when dd screamed, wouldnt he?

WorraLiberty · 21/03/2012 23:12

You're right loopy it's like politics isn't it? An all round agreement will never happen but we're all entitled to our own views/opinions Grin

OP, the attic noise could be squirrels...I've had them two years in a row Sad

Chewed my fecking Christmas tree the bastards Angry

WorraLiberty · 21/03/2012 23:14

Haha! I hadn't clicked the link till just now and I thought "I hate Harry Hill" was the most random post ever!

loopylou6 · 21/03/2012 23:15

again I will say I've had many an experience that could not be explained rationally.

Ignorance is bliss. Do you really believe in this universe we live, we are the only beings?
Anyways, I'm bloody knackered and an going sleep. I will check back in the morning to see who has flamed my arse.< looks suspiciously at worra Grin night bitches Wink

IAmBooyhoo · 21/03/2012 23:16

"I suppose I just couldn't believe that there was someone real in my house."

you find that harder to believe than there being a ghostly spirit in your house? really?

hauntingme · 21/03/2012 23:16

Yes really. Shock

OP posts:
Unlurked · 21/03/2012 23:17

Why do I read ghost threads before going to bed? Why why why?

Ghosts are not real. (probably).

IAmBooyhoo · 21/03/2012 23:17
WorraLiberty · 21/03/2012 23:21

Not so much a flaming to wake up to from me...more of a light Flambé as I'm in a pleasant mood loopy Grin

BukimiNoTaniGensho · 21/03/2012 23:22

Of course it could be explained rationally. You just prefer to believe in ghosts. Thats ok, lots of people choose to believe in things that aren't real.

Ignorance? No, you're not ignorant, just indulging in escapism.

BukimiNoTaniGensho · 21/03/2012 23:25

OP is a perfect example. Toddler says there is a man in her room. There are a few options to consider, that there is a man in her room, that the child has an active imagination, that the child hallucinated or fell asleep. OP, for whatever reason, chose to go with "there is a supernatural unproven being in my house, that defies the laws of physics and has disappeared by the time I got there".
Now, there are 10 more rational explanations than that one.

SixFeetUnder · 21/03/2012 23:30

Not unreasonable to be scared at all! My eldest has recently acquired an imaginary friend that he insists on calling 'ghostie'. Now does he not know I've watched too many crappy horror films where kids can see ghosts to take this news well?! Smile

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 22/03/2012 00:12

It always amazes me, that believing in ghosts makes you a crackpot. But believing in God is quite acceptable! Hmm
Just because you can't explain something, why does that make it impossible. I'm not able to explain the working of the internal combustion engine, but I'm fairly sure it exists!

Kleptronic · 22/03/2012 00:14

Buk help me out here with a rational explanation, please! I have seen, (really, I was there, my brain really thinks I saw this) whilst sober, well rested, with no history of hallucinations, psychosis or anything else in particular, well fed, not premenstrual or under any particular stress, or dehydrated, an unplugged record player arm raise up and come down onto a record. I have no idea a) why I would imagine it or b) why this would happen, with no electricity to power it, (it was not plugged in, it had one cord, one plug, and it was not in a socket, the machine did not take batteries), although I completely accept this is the most likely explanation.

I do not know why, if it were for a quantum moment a supernatural event, any spirit would be arsed with this kind of useless caper, considering the amount of random, inexplicable, untraceable energy it would take to make it happen. If it were me and I had those capabilities, I'd be up to something amusing at least, I hope.

bejeezus · 22/03/2012 00:17

Had your dd been watching The Simpsons?

IAmBooyhoo · 22/03/2012 00:24

saggy how do yo know all these people doubting OP believe in 'god'? i dont, i'm atheist.

also, the workings of the internal combstion engine have been demonstrated and docmented, i'm pretty sure if you were to look for one you would find one and be able to touch it and see it in action. they have been proven to exist.

I was being more general than specific. I don't know about specific posters beliefs. It is however much more acceptable in general to believe in God than in ghosts. Neither are in any way provable.

BukimiNoTaniGensho · 22/03/2012 00:38

Nobody said crackpot, actually. And I'm happy to put any and all gods into the same category of ghosts.

And we can explain it, easily. Thats kind of the point, isn't it?
