Namechanger. Smile My DD, who is just 3 was playing upstairs early on. All of a sudden she let out an almighty shriek and screamed help. It was the sort of cry your child makes that makes you drop everything (in my case a knife and some lemons) and dash. I dashed up as she was running down the stairs. She literally jumped in my arms and looked terrified.

i asked her what was worng and she said that was a man in her room. I said whta did he look like, she said bigger than her with blue hair (she is unsure of her colours Grin) My first thought was ghost. Hmm I gave my DD, 10 the phone and said if I scream, take the others and run out of the house. Shock

Adrenalin took over and I ran upstairs and got my baseball bat Shock and searched every nook and cranny, no one there.

I came down and reassured everyone that it was probably the cat that spooked her whilst shitting it I asked DD what the man said, she said he said, this is my room and my bed.

reassure me please. Sad

There is alot of ghost footage on Youtube. This is the scariest one I've come across:

GeordieFatBloke · 22/03/2012 15:19

Here's an idea: anyone who has seen a ghost interact with something (like put the kettle on for them!), get out your cameraphone and film it please.

Notice how despite the fact that pretty much everyone has access to a camera nowadays and there has been an explosion of "caught on camera" style footage of loads of stuff like cats in bins and Fenton, there has not been a similar explosion in ghost-related footage? But I guess "they don't want to be filmed" or some such reason .... so what about the stuff they're moving around? Come on people, get out your cameras!

juneybean · 22/03/2012 15:21

I don't know if I believe or not but for the clothes thing, is it not what they died in and therefore the thing we see is an "imprint" of them?

hauntingme · 22/03/2012 16:25

Thanks everyone for the responses. i haven't had a chance to read the whole thread yet but will do and come back. Smile

I decided to follow the advice (sorry can't remember who said it) of having a word with the ghost. I said to him that the owners have said it is ok for us to live here and we will be leaving soon. I also said don't scare my children as they are only little.

I was not convinced that it was a ghost but man in attic but you know what I have gone from being terrified before saying to midly scared going to bed to totally at peace this morning today/ as have my DCs.Smile

PMSL at leQueen saying i sound like a drama queen, you have no idea! i am the least dramtic person ever. Wink

Also what would you suggest I do when suspecting there was a man upstairs, say oh just hang on here girls and he can murder scare you too? Hmm

Usually the truth of a matter can be encapsulated in a limerick. However, everything I've found by googling has been both rubbish and unfunny so I can't help.

But I can snort with derision.

I don't give a shit what you think though Lequeen, you are just being bitchy and unhelpful. Prehaps you should get off mumsnet and parent your DDs. Well done to you.

Puts in Ignore twats list.

Well probably going to be flamed and deemed a nutter, but I whole heartedly believe not in ghosts but 'spirits'. Children are more prone than adults to see and hear them. I know many rational people who have had experiences with them, even people who felt they would be completely unbelieved and ridiculed for speaking about their experiences. If your child was genuinely frightened I'd take her seriously.

I think you did the right thing.

If I thought there was someone upstairs I would be out of the front door with my kid faster than the speed of light!

BehindLockNumberNine · 22/03/2012 17:00

Am too scared to look at the youtube link....

Would love to see a ghost, not sure if I believe, keeping an open mind until convinced otherwise...

gaveitago · 22/03/2012 17:12

Had to ask my 14 year old son to watch it for me - watch it - I promise it's not bad- it is worth a look- I don't waant to give anything away.

Calamityboo · 22/03/2012 17:14

ObiWan · 22/03/2012 17:19

fluffyanimal that thread you linked to is fantastic.

The poor mother went from terrified to mortified in 4 or 5 posts. Grin

hauntingme · 22/03/2012 17:57

Thanks fab I took her seriously because I could see how scared she was.

I didn't know what to think, ghost? scarey man? I don't think I ever actually believed there was anyone up there aprt from a ghost I took the baseball bat as he might of fancied a game, might be boring on the other side. Grin

Anyway after my chat all is well. Wink
