Namechanger. Smile My DD, who is just 3 was playing upstairs early on. All of a sudden she let out an almighty shriek and screamed help. It was the sort of cry your child makes that makes you drop everything (in my case a knife and some lemons) and dash. I dashed up as she was running down the stairs. She literally jumped in my arms and looked terrified.

i asked her what was worng and she said that was a man in her room. I said whta did he look like, she said bigger than her with blue hair (she is unsure of her colours Grin) My first thought was ghost. Hmm I gave my DD, 10 the phone and said if I scream, take the others and run out of the house. Shock

Adrenalin took over and I ran upstairs and got my baseball bat Shock and searched every nook and cranny, no one there.

I came down and reassured everyone that it was probably the cat that spooked her whilst shitting it I asked DD what the man said, she said he said, this is my room and my bed.

reassure me please. Sad

So IABU buk? Grin Can I sleep at yours please?

OP posts:
BukimiNoTaniGensho · 21/03/2012 22:44

sure. Ain't no ghosts here or anywhere else

3littlefrogs · 21/03/2012 22:45

Indeed. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I am quite comfortable with the fact that lots of people don't believe in ghosts, and that is fine.

I have seen a few, my mother could see them, my children see them. I therefore don't disbelieve anyone who tells me they have seen them. That is all.

Smile
WorraLiberty · 21/03/2012 22:47

It always amuses me how when people claim to see ghosts, they're never naked??

They're always wearing a 'black suit' or a 'long evening gown' or a 'servants outfit'

How the fuck do they manage to take their wardrobe with them when they die? Grin

And how come there are never any dead Nike wearers?

Or Boden wearing ghosts? Shock

Ok, maybe they wouldn't be seen dead in Boden.....

hauntingme · 21/03/2012 22:48

I heart frogs. Thanks buk, prehaps they are all around you but you have closed your mind? Confused Anyway obviously there are fairies, monsters etc Wink

hauntingme · 21/03/2012 22:49

PMSL @worra, prehaps.

OP posts:
BukimiNoTaniGensho · 21/03/2012 22:51

My mind isn't closed. Its just not gaping so wide open that my brain has fallen out.
If you want to believe in something that defies the known laws of the universe, makes no logical sense and simply isn't true is never been proven, despite massive incentive, thats up to you. But you can't be surprised when people smirk at it.

WorraLiberty · 21/03/2012 22:53

It's also a multi million pound industry all this ghost hunting lark

Basically, if you haven't got a pub with a ghost in the cellar...you haven't got a pub round here at all Grin

QuintessentialShadows · 21/03/2012 22:53

The first time DS1 (aged 4) saw himself in the mirror wearing a Harry Potter Death Eater costume, he also shrieked and came running down.

I bet it was just her imagination.

But sadly, as you are renters, from a spiritual perspective, you cant lay claim to the house as your territory, only the owner can do that.

So, I suggest you go up there (but not that your kids know) and say "Sorry Mr, I know it is your house and your bed, but we really like it here, and the owner of the house is letting us use it. Please do not scare my daughter, she is only little"

Or something that like.

Then say a prayer.

loopylou6 · 21/03/2012 22:55

I believe because I have seen them. there's no point trying to convince non believers, but whatever. I know what I've seen with my own eyeballs.

hauntingme · 21/03/2012 22:56

Ok buk

OP posts:
BukimiNoTaniGensho · 21/03/2012 22:56

No, you think you have seen them. You "see" very little with your eyeballs, by the way, its your mind that provides most of the picture. And the mind is a powerful thing, people "see" things that aren't there all the time.

hauntingme · 21/03/2012 22:57

I'll do that quint. Smile

IAmBooyhoo · 21/03/2012 22:57

your first thought was 'ghost' rather than a real live man? Confused

and your first action upon hearing there was a man in your DD's room was to ask what he looked like rather than just putting your DD down and going to see if there was in fact a man there? i mean why the fuck would it matter what he looked like, can you tell crims from men who have wandered into the wrong house by hair colour? Confused Confused Confused

i'm amazed that your next action wasn't sticking the kettle on for him.

WorraLiberty · 21/03/2012 22:59

If there was a loud bang in the street...some people would automatically think 'car backfiring' and others would think 'gun shot'

I think it's as simple as that when it comes to 'ghosts'

Some people think logically and some think fictionally.

hauntingme · 21/03/2012 23:00

I was shocked.

OP posts:
QuintessentialShadows · 21/03/2012 23:02

I believe there is a fine line between psychosis and seeing/hearing ghosts.

The belief in what a psychotic person sees is a real as my perception of my reality when walking the kids to school, emptying the dishwasher etc.

My mother was firm in her belief that my children turned into little devils with wool in their faces, leering at her, throughout the night.
She was also firm in her belief that they were in her handbag, as she knew they were there last time she checked. No point trying to argue otherwise. It was her reality.

Prior to this, she was a normal woman, who now and then told tales of seeing somebody in the cellar. A ghost, or a gremlin, or something.

If you start seeing and hearing ghosts, I suggest you stop stressing and calm down the pace of your life, ensure you are eating well, exercising, staying well in yourself and get enough rest. And ensure you are not developing early onset dementia. Wink

WorraLiberty · 21/03/2012 23:03

Booyhoo does have a valid point though hauntingme

I think a person's perception of these things lie in what they already believe

If you believe in ghosts or if you're a 'jumpy' 'panicky' sort of person...your perception is bound to be skewed IYSWIM?

The first thing I would have thought was that someone had broken in or wandered in...not what they looked like.

loopylou6 · 21/03/2012 23:03

You think its simple because you are a non believer. if you've not had an experience then you won't understand. just because you don't believe in afterlife activities, don't mean it doesn't exist.

MrsMuddyPuddles · 21/03/2012 23:05

The banging in the attic might be rodents...

WorraLiberty · 21/03/2012 23:05

loopy it doesn't mean it does exist either

loopylou6 · 21/03/2012 23:06

Just want to add, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I don't mean to be pushing 'woo' stuff on you, but I feel itels important to keep an open mind.

IAmBooyhoo · 21/03/2012 23:07

my first thought would have been that my ds was playing a make beleive game, they do that, kids. get very engrossed in the aswell.

my first action would have been to tell ds "dont be silly, no-one can get into your room it's too messy."

BukimiNoTaniGensho · 21/03/2012 23:08

No, I think its simple because I'm a scientist, with a good grip on reality.
I don't really understand "everyone is entitled to their own opinion". If it is my heartfelt opinion that grass is red and that people have horns, you'd be happy to tell me that I am wrong. Because its not true. Well, same thing.

hauntingme · 21/03/2012 23:08

I suppose I just couldn't believe that there was someone real in my house.
