To think all men are basically pervs?

Hi there

Felt compelled to ask this as just lately I have really been seeing men in a different light when in social settings. Perhaps I am just getting old and grumpy or reading something that isn't there.

I have been to a few parties recently and have been really conscious of men eyeing up very young almost tartily dressed teenagers. These girls were dressed very glamorously but waay too old for their age. I saw a couple of girls probably aged 16/17 and a couple over 18's, but not by much.

What I found worrying was middle aged men blatently eyeing them up and more worrying men in my group of friends/family. Men old enough to be their dad's. Not necessarily gawping but craftily staring when they could. Now I'm talking not just about a pretty girl but proper tarted up, hot pants the lot.

It made me feel quite sick to see middle aged men perving like this, so am I being unreasonable here to think even nice guys are secret pervs and although they may not be happy with their daughters dressed up like that, they will happily ogle others?

Why is that couldithavedonesomething?

couldithavedonesomething · 02/03/2012 17:28

Well not not a sample of 1, a lot of girls I went to school with were the same, which is why I mentioned it. And plus its a fact young women develop now earlier than the previous generations.

its because they are damaged by sex their genitals are too under developed for. Also alot of children who suffer severe sexual abuse can be left infertile by it.

SardineQueen · 02/03/2012 17:30

Oh here it's to do with the cervix and teh tissues in the vagina not being fully mature.

If they miscarry more that might explain it? Don't know and run out of googling time now!

"In an article in the April 2009 issue of the Journal of Family Planning and Reproductive Health Care, Professor Stanley explains that in teenagers the tissues of the cervix are still developing and are especially vulnerable to attack by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which is known to be the main cause of cervical cancer. The virus, which is caught through sex, is very common, but can only cause harm if the body?s natural defences do not get rid of it (rather like a cold).

?It seems that the immaturity of the cervix in teenage girls makes it easier for HPV get into the cells and stay there,? says Professor Stanley. ?Although it can take around 10 to 20 years for cervical cancer to develop, the stage is already set. If girls start having sex around 14 or 15, which is now quite common in the UK, in the next few years will we see more young women with cervical cancer??"

I do agree with carmen that this "men are designed to ogle 15yo" thing is not correct and claiming it's down to biology is an excuse put about by men who want to ogle 15yo girls. Many men think 15yo girls look like children (which of course they are).

SardineQueen · 02/03/2012 17:32

couldihavedonesomething well if your genitals are not mature then you are not fully physically mature.

Most females continue sort of filling out a bit up until 20 ish, losing that "coltish" look that girls who have been through puberty fairly recently have. Even faces develop - a 20 year old looks more grown up facially than a 15 yo and not just because they are 5 years older I think.

Archemedes · 02/03/2012 17:33

I must live on a different planet ,

Where I'm from very few girls above the age of 12 look like children they all develop quite quickly.

SardineQueen · 02/03/2012 17:36

Have you looked at their vaginas and cervixes, archimedes?

When you say "develop" do you mean grow breasts and more adult bodies, or do you mean that by 12 they are fully physically developed through their entire body, stop growing, breasts stop growing, hip and waist shapes stop changing.

Where I am girls seem to start developing at the ages people are mentioning but they don't stop there and you can see that they are young.

Archemedes · 02/03/2012 17:37

I could never refer to a developing teen as a child,
As soon as they have hair and periods they are no longer a child imo.
I know legally but it should be changed to young person.

Archemedes · 02/03/2012 17:39

Not fully, fully but on the oustides they definitely look like young women.

just ime I began developing boobs s at 8 and started my periods at 10. so I certainly looked like a woman long before 14/15.

Archemedes · 02/03/2012 17:40

See thats what I mean here you can't tell they are young, they look a good 3,4 years older than they are.

scottishmummy · 02/03/2012 17:41

maybe just the men you know company you keep
I dont know men like this
nor do i know teen lassies dressed like you describe

you can't make such sweeping generalisations

SardineQueen · 02/03/2012 17:41

But would you describe them as an adult, archimedes?

The reason for my posts is that people have said that females are fully physically developed at 14/15/16 and so it's "natural" for older men to leer at them.

I am simply refuting the idea that females of 14/15/16 are fully developed as they aren't. The person who said this got a right telling off, but they are right.

I think that the people who are claiming that it is "natural" for men to ogle 15yo girls - and more so than 18 yo girls or 20 yo girls - have simply bought a lie told by men who like leering at 15 yo girls.

SardineQueen · 02/03/2012 17:42

archimedes people have always said that about girls!!!

Malificence · 02/03/2012 17:42

My DD was totally different physically at 14 to when she was 16 and she is totally different now at nearly 22, she is fully grown woman now and looks it, when she was all dressed up at 16 she looked 16, there is even a marked difference between the photos of her when she started Uni at 18 and now.

SardineQueen · 02/03/2012 17:46

Thank you mal you know what I am talking about!

Just because you have started your periods and got some breasts does not mean that you are "fully physically developed". Although historically here and around the world now, girls are married off at this age (physically not fully mature).

No-one tries to claim that males are fully physically mature as soon as they are capable of reproduction, they get time to grow up properly before they are deemed sexually adult by the world at large. Girls are expected to start fending for themselves from inappropriate approaches when they are about 12/13 which makes me sad.

SardineQueen · 02/03/2012 17:47

And then you get threads like this saying it's "natural".

It would be a much nicer society if leering at young women (and men) wasn't considered an acceptable thing to do (on either side).

Archemedes · 02/03/2012 17:48

archimedes people have always said that about girls!!!

sometimes its true other than my hair colour and weight gain I don't look any different to how I did at 18 tbh, im nearly 23 now. And I always looked older than I did .

refering to your earlier point , I didnt see that post but I assumed you meant
fully mature on the outside,

SardineQueen · 02/03/2012 17:55

No it was people saying that it's "natural" for old geezers to leer at 15yo on the basis that they are "fully physically developed" that got my goat!

SardineQueen · 02/03/2012 17:57

I looked different at 12 and 14 and 16 - I think that I didn't change that much after 16 or at least I did a bit but the pace of change slowed down.

You can normally tell the difference facially between a 14yo and a 20 yo I think.
Although I don't go around staring at young women, I must admit!

Thistledew · 02/03/2012 18:00

I haven't read the whole thread, but have been in a vociferous debate on a male dominated site where I was told categorically by a male poster that all men look at porn and see nothing wrong with showing around pictures of half naked women and soft porn in public. So it must be true. Hmm

SardineQueen · 02/03/2012 18:04

"showing around pictures of half naked women and soft porn in public"

yerk

like when you're 14 or 15 and some guy comes and sits and looks at pg 3 very deliberately, and then you, and then back to page 3

It's natural, innit.

Thistledew · 02/03/2012 18:07

Well, to be specific, posting them on the forum, but an analogy was made with passing around smutty magazines in Starbucks, which was deemed to be acceptable. Hmm

Malificence · 02/03/2012 18:09

My DH doesn't "perv" over girls or young women, in fact he has stopped looking at facebook pics of DD and her mates on nights out, especially the fancy dress ones where some of them look like lapdancers, he doesn't feel it's appropriate for him to be looking and the only thing he feels is dismay at how some of them look - he abhors the Jordan / Glamour model look and feels sad that any woman feels the need to present herself that way.

I now exactly the type of woman he finds attractive/desirable and a 16/17 year old looking like a Las vegas trannie aint it.

DebbieD78 · 02/03/2012 18:09

"It would be a much nicer society if leering at young women (and men) wasn't considered an acceptable thing to do (on either side)."
Yes but none of us would be alive.

SardineQueen · 02/03/2012 18:13

Is leering important in some way? And specifically older men and teenaged girls?

Honeydragon · 02/03/2012 18:15

Malifence no point posting that, your dh is, in fact a liar. He actually secretly fancies all her friends. Because all men are raging perverts. Sorry to break it to you but I'm afraid a bunch of randoms n the interweb know your dh better than you do.

The above also goes to the men who have posted on the thread too...you are lying to yourselves and know not your own opinion.
