To think all men are basically pervs?

Hi there

Felt compelled to ask this as just lately I have really been seeing men in a different light when in social settings. Perhaps I am just getting old and grumpy or reading something that isn't there.

I have been to a few parties recently and have been really conscious of men eyeing up very young almost tartily dressed teenagers. These girls were dressed very glamorously but waay too old for their age. I saw a couple of girls probably aged 16/17 and a couple over 18's, but not by much.

What I found worrying was middle aged men blatently eyeing them up and more worrying men in my group of friends/family. Men old enough to be their dad's. Not necessarily gawping but craftily staring when they could. Now I'm talking not just about a pretty girl but proper tarted up, hot pants the lot.

It made me feel quite sick to see middle aged men perving like this, so am I being unreasonable here to think even nice guys are secret pervs and although they may not be happy with their daughters dressed up like that, they will happily ogle others?

I do not have a very high opinion of men, currently, in any aspect.

ILoveDinosaurs · 03/03/2012 17:09

MrGin, I had you down as more of a Bennie Hill type figure than a Sid James. Wink

MrGin · 03/03/2012 17:15

ILoveDinosaurs the legs of benny hill and the laugh of Sid James.

I'm quite a catch < preens >

SarahStratton · 03/03/2012 17:18

Yes Gin, you promised me a bikini :(

MrGin · 03/03/2012 17:19

Did I ?!

I thought it was the moon. :)

SarahStratton · 03/03/2012 17:21

That too, but if you're pushed for time the bikini will do Grin

DebbieD78 · 03/03/2012 18:22

Would be clased as "perving" nowadays?

NowThenWreck · 03/03/2012 18:24

Sarah, Mr Gin, for the love of God get a room!

takingiteasy · 03/03/2012 18:34

Must be a shit party if your sitting watching men watching girls.

Honeydragon · 03/03/2012 20:06

Bloody hell so we now conclude

All women are naivive and a bit dim
All men are perverts
And now all men are bastard perverts

Apart from the lucky view who are thankfully experts on the entire population regardless of their sexual leanings and are gender, their awesomeness meaning they can espouse their learned thoughts to those of us who should no better

As for the op, in her opinion the looking at the girl was leering. As by looking at her and talking amongst themselves means they want to have naughty illegal sex with her.

Those of us who said perhaps they were looking at a teenager behaving as a teenager does and having a wry old smirk as they were young once or are parents themselves was shot down in flames because everyone knows all men are bastard perverts and sex is a wicked dirty thing.

Wow, I don't know which I'd rather be a thick pitiable woman of a bastard perverted man.

Guess I'll just have to stick with being a rational, fair minded person then.

The op, made a ridiculous sexist statement and sexism is wrong.

Latara · 03/03/2012 20:50

I must confess... I am a young woman who finds it difficult to avoid getting distracted by the fit men at the weights benches during my workout..
So i cannot sit in judgement of men who eye up women :-(

TiggyD · 03/03/2012 21:04

Some men are tennis players and some women think Joe Pasquale is funny.

I'm not sure it's possible to ever say that all men are something or that all women are whatever. There will always be exceptions that will mean you've included somebody in your sweeping generalisation that doesn't deserve it.
All men are perves? Nope.
All Tiggys are gorgeous? There's an absolute minger in Kent that lets the side down.
Everybody has a pulse?! Nope.
Sweeping generalisations are always wrong.

ILoveDinosaurs · 03/03/2012 21:07

Someone thinks Joe Pasquale is funny? Fuck me! Now I've heard everything.

BigGirlInASmallWorld · 03/03/2012 21:19

ooh i know small - at the thought, annoying prat.

TiggyD · 03/03/2012 21:24

Now, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum,
What might be right for you, may not be right for some.
A man is born, he's a man of means.
Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans.

But they got, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.

Everybody's got a special kind of story
Everybody finds a way to shine,
It don't matter that you got not a lot
So what,
They'll have theirs, and you'll have yours, and I'll have mine.
And together we'll be fine....

Because it takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.
Yes it does.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.

Well done for getting the joke.

Trills · 03/03/2012 21:51

People who make sweeping generalisations always have bad breath

LovedayPan · 03/03/2012 21:57

And should really put down the broom. And use a good mouthwash.

Honeydragon · 03/03/2012 22:17

bugger, I may be a perv...I am strangely entranced by Rhianas legs on Jonathan Ross.

Morloth · 03/03/2012 22:24

You wouldn't believe how fast I move when DS1 says 'Mum, Deadly 60 is on'.

Now there is some prime perving material.

Honeydragon · 03/03/2012 22:26

I like a bit of Bear in the snow, as it were, myself, Morloth Grin
Very educational

Morloth · 03/03/2012 22:31

Nah, he eats weird shit.

Mike Rowe confuses me, I am torn between wanting to throw him down and jump on him, or just throw up.

Steve though, he is always without his shirt and you can just imagine...

I didn't get the Twilight thing myself, they still looked like kids to me, especially the werewolf boy.

Honeydragon · 03/03/2012 22:33

Even the parents in Twilight look about 12.
