To think the Welsh

have better resealable cheese packets than we do in England.

While in Wales this weekend I purchased some Welsh cheese (very nice it was too) and the resealable strip was like a little plastic velcro srtip not like our little thin strip that is hard to reseale

This is not a critisism of the Welsh just an observation but it does make me wonder what other little gadgets that make life easier do they have. Things like self squeezing tea bags

Sorry to interupt your little discussion about which bits of Wales you are all in but ... I am going to Wales on Saturday and will be buying Fish and Chips for 5 at the seaside. Will I have to pay for a carrier bag for my chips or is it just the supermarkets that charge?

BestIsWest · 23/02/2012 19:25

No it will be the fish and Chip shop too.

BelleEnd · 23/02/2012 19:31

Yep, you'll have to pay bigbluebus.
This whole plastic bag thing is quite odd. I am a very forgetful and disorganized person, and before the bag charges came in, I would forget my bags for life in the car. But a few weeks after the charges came in, and me having to pay, something clicked in my brain, and I never forget now. It's just getting into the habit, innit. I also got myself a baggu- a foldable bag that folds into a teeny pouch- And I keep that in my handbag. It's ace.

Astronaut79 · 23/02/2012 19:34

I thought you were ok if it was food? I mean, takeaway food. Elf n safety and stuff.

ps I also went to Holywell high in 6tgh form!

BelleEnd · 23/02/2012 19:36

My chippy charges, I think because you get the food in a polystyrene tray which counts as a food container IYKWIM. Or maybe he's trying to fleece me because I ask for extra salt and vinegar.

mumnotmachine · 23/02/2012 19:38

Yep, you will be charged at the chippy for a bag- just take your own probably stronger than what they would give you anyway!!

Anyone South Wales here?

mumnotmachine · 23/02/2012 19:39

mumnotmachine. We are off to Llandudno for the day. Opposite end of Wales to you!

BestIsWest · 23/02/2012 20:56

I'm near Swansea too Dee and mrsDuff but work in Cardiff.

bigbluebus · 23/02/2012 21:05

bestiswest Thanks for that link - it looks complicated.
As I understand it, if you go to a fast food joint and buy a burger in a bun and fries, they will put the fries in a bag FOC but they can't put the burger in the bag if its in a box because then they would have to charge you for the bag. Must need 3 pairs of hands to go to McDonalds in Wales then!!!

mumatron · 23/02/2012 21:08

I'm in cardiff. Pretty much in the city centre. I love it here.

Everytime a thread like this pops up a few more welshies appear.

It's great. worries I have to start taking care of my appearance now there are mumsnetters close by
