To think the Welsh

have better resealable cheese packets than we do in England.

While in Wales this weekend I purchased some Welsh cheese (very nice it was too) and the resealable strip was like a little plastic velcro srtip not like our little thin strip that is hard to reseale

This is not a critisism of the Welsh just an observation but it does make me wonder what other little gadgets that make life easier do they have. Things like self squeezing tea bags

The Welsh have the Popty Ping.

nuff said.

gaelicsheep · 21/02/2012 22:28

I'm moving to Wales soon. I look forward to fresh cheese forever more! Smile

BelleEnd · 21/02/2012 22:39

I live in mid-Wales and our local garage makes it's own cheese Confused :o
I don't think it has diesel in it...

They do a chilli one which is brilliant and is strong enough to power a car

smoggii · 21/02/2012 22:48

I couldn't live without my Popty Ping

gaelicsheep · 21/02/2012 22:56

What is the Popty Ping? Is this something I need to know about? Like curly fries in Scotland?

SecretNutellaFix · 21/02/2012 22:59

Microwave.

Popty means bakery/oven. Ping is the sound it makes therefore popty ping.

MixedBerries · 21/02/2012 23:05

I like ffa popty. Only marginally more expensive than a carrier bag.

MixedBerries · 21/02/2012 23:06

And ffa popty with cheese...there's a treat! Will investigate the cheese wrapping tomorrow.

gaelicsheep · 21/02/2012 23:11

Erm, baked beans?

MixedBerries · 21/02/2012 23:14

Oh yes! You'll be fluent by the time you move, gaelic!

gaelicsheep · 21/02/2012 23:17

Well I'm trying. Pronunciation is a steep learning curve though! I've been phoning agents ever so proud of my practised pronunciation, to be told "where? oh you mean ". I'll keep trying!

gaelicsheep · 21/02/2012 23:21

There should have been a Grin in there somewhere! Not sure I'll be speaking Welsh any time soon!

BelleEnd · 22/02/2012 09:16

Well it's brilliant of you to try gaelicsheep. You'll be speaking Welsh before you realize it, there are plenty of really good courses. Where are you moving to, or don't you want to say?

MixedBerries · 22/02/2012 09:31

gaelicsheep, the effort will be appreciated! Pob lwc.

Funtimewincies · 22/02/2012 10:31

Bugger Cadog (which is nice), if you've not let Perl Wen Brie into your life yet, now is the time Grin.

Bottled beers-wise, 'Celt' beers (based in Caerphilly but available in Wrexham Morrisons) are really nice.

Popty ping is my favourite Welsh word, closely followed by crempog (pancake), sboncen (the game of Squash) and cyfrifiadur (computer).

LizzieMo · 22/02/2012 10:38

I have not personally tested the cheese packets, but I will completely agree to the castles & singers being fab in Wales (swoons at the mere mention of a soft & sexy welsh tenor )

MixedBerries · 22/02/2012 10:42

Oh dear. I've checked my cheese. It doesn't have the packaging you speak of. Can I complain to the assemble I wonder?

BelleEnd · 22/02/2012 11:25

Collier's cheese is lovely, too. The Welsh could so kick Alex James' arse...

MixedBerries · 22/02/2012 11:30

Ooooops. I meant assembly of course.
BelleEnd, did you have to bring Alex James into this. I'll be thinking about his arse all day now! Wink

nickelDorritt · 22/02/2012 11:33

I don't get why the shops are encouraged to give the proceeds to charity.
It costs me more than 5p to buy a carrier bag. A carrier bag is 11p for a small one, 14p for a medium one and 19p for a large one.
And they're not even printed with my shop name!

BelleEnd · 22/02/2012 11:33

Sorry Berries- I BET he has arse cheese

gaelicsheep · 22/02/2012 11:36

PM'd you BelleEnd Smile

Fuzzywood · 22/02/2012 11:40

My mum raids my store of carrier bags and stocks up when she visits, bless! Might start charging her to refund some of the flippin extorniate cost of getting home over the Severn Bridge when I go there though Grin Must get her to look for some of the cheese mentioned sounds lovely. Do they have it in S Wales do you know?

MixedBerries · 22/02/2012 11:43

No no no no no. Quite simply, no BelleEnd.

mrsduff · 22/02/2012 11:44

Feeling very homesick after reading this thread as my family have been trying to move back to south wales from england for the past two years but no luck with jobs yet.. I can't wait to have to pay for carrier bags!!
