Had enough of their agenda being forced down my throat whether I want it or not. Major recruitment drive going on lately, and serious opression of other posters views. Just gets worse and worse. This was not what I believed MN was supposed to be about.

I'm off.

that's just daft SF, call me patronising if you must.

BillyBollyBandy · 21/02/2012 22:22

Why won't MrGin answer me? Has he been taken by the mystical patriarchy?

SardineQueen · 21/02/2012 22:22

"Have a vagina? Wanna be in charge of someone elses? You're a feminist.

More like."

?

LeBOF · 21/02/2012 22:23

I wonder if people used to take the OP's attitude to Trades Unions? "Dammit, my children need the exercise going up them chimneys, stop bossing me about!"

Not really. Some do nowadays, I suppose, because they have accepted the ruling class arguments about how the world should be run. Which is still a rough parallel.

SigmundFraude · 21/02/2012 22:30

I'm not talking about the funfems, as one Radfem charmingly put it StrandedBear. Trust me, you're not a proper feminist until you view men as the enemy.

Nyac · 21/02/2012 22:32

Why have you got such a bee in your bonnet about rad fems Sigmund?

Lots of people on Mumsnet are blunt and non-conciliatory in support of their opinions, it's hardly unique to the FWR section.

Also a lot of your posts come across as combative, so why would you criticise it in other people?

SinicalSanta · 21/02/2012 22:33

daft again SF.

You don't seem to know what you are talking about. It's quite plain.

Call me patronising, etc

LovedayPan · 21/02/2012 22:33

SF - you are soo wrong there re men as the 'enemy'.

tbh I am only seeing this thread as a source of light entertainment, and given SF's last post I can see why I do so.

BupcakesandCunting · 21/02/2012 22:37

"I'm not talking about the funfems, as one Radfem charmingly put it StrandedBear. Trust me, you're not a proper feminist until you view men as the enemy."

Now that is patronising...

TheCrackFox · 21/02/2012 22:38

What kind of things do the rad fems say to make you think they view men as the enemy?

PinTHISonYerCabbageMister · 21/02/2012 22:39

Big Hmm. Sigmund endlessly insisted some poor upset lass was silly to be hurt by what had evidently hurt her very badly.

Just sometimes, Siggy, it's more important to be kind than to be right. You weren't very kind and yet are surprised some people don't feel like being kind to you.

helpyourself · 21/02/2012 22:41

SF Trust me, you're not a proper feminist until you view men as the enemy.
Confused says who? That may be your misinterpretaion of Feminism, but for you to posit that that's what Feminist posit gets into the realm of angels on pinheads.

BasilRathbone · 21/02/2012 22:42

I think sometimes, people come over to the FWR boards and feel out of their depth and get resentful because they feel it's our fault.

I quite often feel out of my depth over there because the convo is sometimes really challenging.

But I don't blame the other posters for my own lack of knowledge or education - it's my responsiblity to go off and read Mary Daly/ Germaine Greer/ Kate Millett/ whoever it is, if I want to understand what's going on.

But some people, really feel entitled and get very bitter and angry that they are feeling out of their depth.

So they start threads about flouncing and regrettably, don't actually flounce, but hang around and say all sorts of really silly things about feminism which actually make them sound like 16 year old boys whose girlfriends won't have sex with them and are making them feel a bit sulky.

I'm sorry about that. And now I'm not going to spend any more sleeping time on engaging with this silliness. Good night all. Smile

(And if I sound patronising, it's intentional. Arf.)

LovedayPan · 21/02/2012 22:42

would anyone like a to hear a really nice story about Maya Angelou and a friend of mine? Say no if you'd rather not?

BupcakesandCunting · 21/02/2012 22:43

Sigmund, you should read How To Be A Woman by Caitlin Moran.

MooncupGoddess · 21/02/2012 22:43

Maybe Sigmund has discovered the MN RadFem Trophy Penis Cabinet?? I thought we'd managed to keep it secret Shock

SigmundFraude · 21/02/2012 22:44

Because a RadFem personally upset me in RL, because on here they shout down or belittle anybody who stands in their way, because they accuse me of not being able to think for myself due to being culturally conditioned by the patriarchy, because they wind me up no end with their narrow minded views and their steadfast refusal to consider that any other life choice is wrong.

I do not have a problem with your average feminist, I have a problem with Radical feminists.

I don't have a problem with combative posts. I do have a problem with dogma.

BupcakesandCunting · 21/02/2012 22:44

SigmundFraude · 21/02/2012 22:48

And with Basil's beautifully constructed piss take, I shall now go for a walk.

Sulkinginthecorner · 21/02/2012 22:48

Is that feminist code for 'patronising'?

Why use english, when you can invent whole new terms that no one else can understand?

Of course theres a good reason, its to exclude other people from your discussion, unless they are one of your group and know the correct terminology.

Why say the same thing in 5 words when 240 flowery big ones make you sound more intelligent.

PinTHISonYerCabbageMister · 21/02/2012 22:51

And... and... and... 'nother thing, before I disappear to bed...

'The feminists made me' is a paltry excuse for trampling over poor Jam on your ideology bunfight. If you can only make these RadFems sound bad enough, you'll look justified, I expect...

Pah.

And goodnight.

catgirl1976 · 21/02/2012 22:51

Out of their depth in what way?
