or perhaps Am I normal?

I was recently Irene Adler walking seductively through London, being all mysterious and red-of-nail. Last night as I poured my chardonnay I was Bridget Jones. I'm often the posh lady who very nearly gets the better of Poirot, but doesn't quite and has a "damn you" moment. In my youth I was rather obsessed with Quantum Leap - I regularly leapt into my own body to somehow save a life / a business / the world.

Externally, I'm just an accountant with a happy homelife. Internally, I'm anything I bloody like.

Normal? Come on, I can take it. I've been a Russian spy with homicidal tendancies. In Asda.

Think I'm missing out, I've never watched Buffy.

I am quite often in QI (hilarious yet fascinating in the same breath, obviously.)

And I've filmed my 'homecoming' video when I was an X factor finalist.

I am an International Rock Star. Nobody has ever sold more albums than me. Every song I love that comes on my ipod is written and performed by me. I've won grammys, brits and even an Oscar for my soundtrack work. There isn't an instrument I can't play, and I'm currently working on my Broadest musical. Which I will probably star in

InWithTheITCrowd · 11/02/2012 18:49

BROADWAY! not broadest. Stupid phone.

ReallyUncertain · 11/02/2012 19:03

Oooh I do this, I have starred in so many Torchwood episodes it's unreal and Dr Who and sanctuary as well. Usually with me saving the day with my sheer wits and bravery when really I'm a wuss
I also find when I'm not watching anything on tv I do the save thing but with work stuff, so cue dramatic event at work and I so end up being the hero Blush I'm sooooooo glad I'm not the only one !!

Spuderoonerism · 11/02/2012 19:14

Externally, I'm just an accountant with a happy homelife. Internally, I'm anything I bloody like.

Snap!

I think the question is do international rock stars pretend to be accountants to while away the hours on the tour bus/private jet etc Grin.

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 11/02/2012 19:15

Oh, so I'm not an utter weirdo then?? Well, maybe we are all utter weirdo's?

Have done this since I was a teenager. I find it relaxing and helps to switch off my brain (especially on bus journeys/during boring tasks at work/cleaning).

So, I am the most amazing singer and dancer (can do neither IRL) and I have dated in the past, movie stars and racing drivers. I have occasionally co-starred in gritty films, Oscar nominated and the talk of Hollywood. I have also gone on missions to Romania and various African countries where I have assisted in the building of and then running of orphanages, where I have fallen in love with the resident dreamy-yet-distant Dr (think Luca from ER).

Johnny Depp is my closest friend (owing to a torrid affair we had in the 90's that led to him dumping Kate Moss for me)

Oh and I've starred in several eps of Buffy - I actually choreographed the Musical episode (and sang most of the songs too)

Blush

I wish I was joking

Psammead · 11/02/2012 19:19

GoEasy just a little bit. I was being a hard-nosed journalist so I think it was born out of respect rather than lusty attraction. Bless him.

joanofarchitrave · 11/02/2012 19:28

spuderoonism - some clearly do; look at Dave thing from Blur training as a lawyer, he'd clearly been watching a lot of This Life and Kavanagh QC on the tour bus.

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 11/02/2012 19:32

and Alex James - now a Cheese maker!

Psammead · 11/02/2012 19:33

Blessed are the cheesemakers.

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 11/02/2012 19:36

but what's so special about the cheesemakers? Grin

StrawberrytallCAKE · 11/02/2012 19:36

I was Julia Roberts in pretty woman in London the other day, the shopping bit...but pushing a pram.

I was frequently in lost in translation in my early 20's.

TalcAndTurnips · 11/02/2012 19:39

I am famous soprano diva Maria Callas.

If she was significantly less attractive, less rich, still alive and had a voice resembling cats screwing, that is. Ah well.

runningwilde · 11/02/2012 19:40

You are all madddd! I never do this!

runningwilde · 11/02/2012 19:41

But... Maybe I'm missing something, maybe I should be doing this?!!!!

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 11/02/2012 19:45

I would love to know why I do this.

I think it's because I need something so far-fetched because sometimes life is a little too 'real'

Oh, and it's fun! Only the same as reading a book, only you're making the story up as you go along Grin

Oh, and I am mad too - fact!

SecretNutellaFix · 11/02/2012 19:45

Yep- I often have the backgorund orchestra playing in my day dreams as well :)

Full on symphony orchestra sometimesBlush

I find that using my imagination like this makes me calmer and better able to deal with real life issues.

LydiaWickham · 11/02/2012 19:49

oh yes, me too. I have 2 that I'm mainly using now, although there's been another 2 themes that come and go, but they are more 'involved' so I have to have time to daydream properly.

Glad to be so normal in my oddness.

OvO · 11/02/2012 19:50

I do this all the time.

I do it so much I worry that when someone interrupts my thoughts I'll answer as the character I'm pretending to be. Blush

But I'm definitely a bit mad as I also have moments of paranoia that the person I'm with will suddenly become telepathic and discover what a weirdo I am! I play music in the car to drown out my thoughts should my DH suddenly develop such an ability. [crazy]

I maybe shouldn't have admitted that.

OkayGrrl · 11/02/2012 19:56

I do this too lol, especially when I'm listening to my mp3 player and when I'm cooking I like to think I'm a chef on tv or on masterchef and that my rubbish chilli con carni is going to win me a prize!

GreenEyesAndHam · 11/02/2012 19:57

Not only do I often star in my own movies, I sometimes win Oscars for them as well

My acceptance speeches are awesome. There isn't a dry eye in the house.

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 11/02/2012 19:58

Ovo - maybe not..... Wink

Grin
DodieSmith · 11/02/2012 20:00

This is one of the best threads I have ever read! I started doing this when I was about 6 after watching a Russian TV series of Cinderella that was on telly in the 1970s. Now it's a more generalised hyper imaginary life, but still...

OvO · 11/02/2012 20:01

Brian, I only admitted it as I'm hoping at least one other person admits to having the same weirdo thoughts! Grin
