or perhaps Am I normal?

I was recently Irene Adler walking seductively through London, being all mysterious and red-of-nail. Last night as I poured my chardonnay I was Bridget Jones. I'm often the posh lady who very nearly gets the better of Poirot, but doesn't quite and has a "damn you" moment. In my youth I was rather obsessed with Quantum Leap - I regularly leapt into my own body to somehow save a life / a business / the world.

Externally, I'm just an accountant with a happy homelife. Internally, I'm anything I bloody like.

Normal? Come on, I can take it. I've been a Russian spy with homicidal tendancies. In Asda.

I have finally found my group of people! I always do this, sitting on the bus to and from work and all the time at home so glad there are more like me!
As a teenager, I loved vampires so I was always hanging around with Lestat or having Gary Oldman's Dracula seducing me. Now its solving crimes with Sherlock or the CSI gang.

DodieSmith · 11/02/2012 22:50

Oh my goodness. Just deleted a post that had me sounding totally barking and it wasn't even about pretending to be in films in your head. Realised that the lunacy on this thread lulled me into a false sence of security, thinking 'we're all wierdo's on here' and I almost shared too much.

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 11/02/2012 22:51

ooo Dodie you big tease!!

PrivateBenjamin · 11/02/2012 22:52

Go for it Dodie - you can always namechange. which i think a lot of people will be doing after this thread

threeineachlobe · 11/02/2012 22:54

Am liking the fact that we may have cross-pollinated with the drunk thread. :o

BettySuarez · 11/02/2012 22:56

This is a fucking brilliant thread Grin

DodieSmith · 11/02/2012 22:56

Nah, it'd seem dull now after the build up. I sometimes fear that I'll be murdered, or something, and the police will have to do a full search of my life and find this kind of stuff on mumsnet and it'll be exposed for all to see. And they'll be able to follow my name changes and see what's provoked them and everything.

DodieSmith · 11/02/2012 22:57

That wasn't it by the way.

icebergahoy · 11/02/2012 22:58

I feel so at home on this thread! I work out at the gym to my own imaginary 'montage' music Grin.

I have 2 go-to daydream formulas. I either have supernatural powers and am highly co-ordinated unlike real life (largely based on Buffy, X-Men, Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, True Blood etc). Or I am at the top of my chosen field (Oscar winning actress, author, artist etc), incredibly captivating, amazing in bed, and generally resisting the advances of some celebrity (currently Ralph Fiennes Grin).

Of course we're normal, I pity those (like my dp) who can't switch off and get a bit of respite from mundane reality.

Honeydragon · 11/02/2012 23:02

Oh and in case you didn't know Dr House totally has a crush on me (not Hugh, just House)

threeineachlobe · 11/02/2012 23:02

I've name changed btw. Obviously. Didn't want to be held responsible if this thread descended into decadent chaos. Which it has.

OP posts:
Honeydragon · 11/02/2012 23:03

Sorry Brianshairs cat

ilovethewinchesterbrothers · 11/02/2012 23:03

i do this quite alot of the time as well, i sometimes have superpowers like the girls in charmed, i'm busy helping the winchester boys on a supernatural case or solving crimes with csi ny- more often than not with don flack and danny messer.

icebergahoy · 11/02/2012 23:05

Don't get me started on what I got up to with Benedict and Alexander Skaargard when we were trapped in a broken-down lift following a swanky awards dinner.....Blush

Honeydragon · 11/02/2012 23:06

Blimy...Benedicts getting around a bit, no wonder he's so thin and pasty

secretary · 11/02/2012 23:06

oh me too, and more now I have my own score thanks to the old ipod.

I don't know whether to be relieved I'm not the only loon or disappointed there are others on my intellectual plane

OvO · 11/02/2012 23:07

No way, HD, House is in love with ME! But then I fret about him proposing because obviously I want to say yes but my first name is Wendy and that would open me up to a lot of jokes. I have actually though about this way too much. I could keep my maiden name but I would want everyone to know that I was married to him. Ahhh, decisions, decisions.

DodieSmith · 11/02/2012 23:08

Maybe everybody does it.

NeldaAufwader · 11/02/2012 23:08

I am also a character in Being Human, now Mitchell is gone I might turn my attentions to the new vampire.

I'm also in Woody's gang from This is England, I mostly dress in the 80's mod style, oh we do have a laugh me, Woody and the gang.

I'm lead an extremely busy and varied life in my head.

Well that's Ok, OvO, I always spurn him, haven't been in an acceptance scenario yet Grin

I shall now be magnanimous and throatily tell him I can't be with him because if he searches in his heart he knows it's OvO he truely loves, it's always been OvO....

Pendeen · 11/02/2012 23:13

I'm Jenny Agutter in Logan's Run and then at other times (usually after several glasses of Thatchers cider) - Nikita.

Help!

OvO · 11/02/2012 23:15
Grin

God, I love you lot.

Recently I tried to explain to my parents that Pennywise and Chucky wait on my stairs at night, waiting for me to go pee. They didn't put it delicately - they out and out called me a weirdo.

But MN has made me feel like that's okay. WinkGrin

swanker · 11/02/2012 23:16

I used to do this when I was younger, but I don't have the time or the headspace any longer.

I was often in Star Wars as a child too munkysea

DodieSmith · 11/02/2012 23:19

The laugh per posts ratio (LPPR?) on this thread is very high.
