ElmoFan · 08/01/2012 16:44

Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tiredmum, teaandcake, valiumredhead and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

Arrgghhh...so irritated with a friend right now.

Be back later to explain. Right now DS is going to have his TV time and I'm going to nap clean.

gomummygo · 31/01/2012 21:10

LOL, great thread!!! Thanks Tea! Grin

Hope you are ok Cheerful.

Teaandcakeplease · 31/01/2012 21:21

Mum phoned after me not replying to text yet. I briefly explained how tricky the last week has been and if something went wrong on the day, I'd probably cry and mum understood

Tiredmumno1 · 31/01/2012 22:29

Oh good tea glad she understood Smile

That thread was hilarious had me in tears Grin

Tiredmumno1 · 01/02/2012 11:15

friends

Hope you don't mind I am just testing how to do links I just realised I am behind the times and have never tried in all the years I have been here, fingers crossed it works Grin

gomummygo · 02/02/2012 13:09

Morning all! :) Groundhog Day today, cross your fingers for us!

Tiredmumno1 · 02/02/2012 13:42

Good luck Gomummy, I have to admit I had to look it up Blush is it true you are not allowed to speak a word of English?

gomummygo · 02/02/2012 15:49

No, never heard the no speaking english thing before! But US also has Groundhog day, maybe Cheerful knows about that?

We have two main groundhogs here (in Ontario and Nova Scotia). Ours (Wiarton Willie and Schubenacadie Sam) have both predicted an early spring this morning - YAY! Lets hope they are right! :)

Tiredmumno1 · 02/02/2012 16:04

Grin Gomummy stupid Internet probably giving false info.

Oooo well I hope you do get an early spring, it's been freezing here, we have only been going out when needed, trying to keep Jamie in the warm, although he does have his nice big fluffy all on one coat for when we do go out, he looks so snuggly in it Smile

Tiredmumno1 · 02/02/2012 16:06

Where is cheerful actually I hope she is ok

And the other buddies, maybe they found a new bench Sad

CheerfulYank · 02/02/2012 16:42

I'm here! I'm at work...naughty, naughty. :o

Never heard the no-speaking-English thing...which is good, because it's all I speak. Aybe-may ig-Pay atin-Lay? Wink Our groundhog is Puxatawney Phil.

About the friend thing...sigh. I love her dearly, she's my very best friend (well there are three of us who are very close, we call ourselves the Tripod b/c we're cool like that :o) but she is sooooo tightly wound. I'm really not, I'm lazy relaxed to an extreme, so I think we just come at things from very different perspectives, and now that she is a mother it comes to head a lot more. My other bestie and I went to stay with her for the weekend and it was a bit tense. Tightly Wound Bestie gets really stressed about going out with her daughter for the day, and if she runs around or cries (as very young toddlers do!) she feels like people are looking at her or judging her. And she takes any little comment as a criticism. She said she was worried about how DD eats, and I said off-handedly, "oh, she'll eat when she's hungry" and she took it as me saying "oh I'm the most fabulous mother, I know everything" Confused I just meant to be reassuring! CRIPES.

Tiredmumno1 · 02/02/2012 17:01

Glad you are ok cheerful Smile

Have you explained you didn't mean it like that, isn't it horrible when you say something that after you've said it you think damn maybe I could have worded that better, although I knew what you meant and agree with you, however I can sometimes be guilty of trying to get the kids to behave when we are out Blush also worried about being judged and not being able to control them Grin

Tiredmumno1 · 02/02/2012 17:02

You are a fabulous mother Smile and do know a lot in your defence Grin

gomummygo · 02/02/2012 18:10

Reat-gay ig-pay atin-lay Eerful Chay. Grin Did Phil agree on early spring?

Good for me to read your post Cheerful. I am the tightly-wound one in that way. Rarely concerned with being judged, but v. overly conscious of not disturbing others, iykwim. Especially as DS spends quite a bit of time in otherwise-adult environments, and I remember all too well being the young professional irritated by others' DCs! Blush Sometimes forget that most of the people around have had DCs and are probably more understanding than I give them credit for.

Always good for us tightly-wound people to have a relaxed friend like you to keep it in perspective. Even if your friend might not have taken it so great at the time, she probably really respects your opinion and went home and thought about it, iykwim.

I was so lucky to have this friend when DS was smaller. She had 3 DC's less than 18 months apart (not a typo, twins then a surprise!) and has perspective. Grin Your friend might drive you a bit mad but I bet she really benefits from your relaxed approach.

gomummygo · 02/02/2012 18:12

Ooh Tiredmum Envy at lovely cuddly all-in-one-winter-bunting bundled up Jamie!!!

valiumredhead · 02/02/2012 18:18

I am very jealous of those that can do pig Latin, because try as I might I can't get my head round it! Grin

It's very cold here and we have snow forecast at the weekend!

CheerfulYank · 02/02/2012 19:07

Nope, Phil saw his shadow and says 6 more weeks of winter!

It's not so much that she's a bit more highly strung than me...she just gets snappy about everything when stressed and can really be kind of rude. Also she said a lot "oh I wish we could get out more" but when I link her to sites for things she could do (storytimes or mom's groups in her city) she feels like I am saying she's a bad mother.

Today she asked me something and I said, "ok, honestly, I'm a little afraid to tell you things now. Do you want an answer or do you want me to listen?"

She said she actually wanted an answer :), so maybe just asking her will help.

gomummygo · 02/02/2012 19:23

Ack Cheerful, you will have to come up here for a warm weather holiday then, LOL!

What a thoughtful way to approach it with your friend. She is lucky to have you. :)

Enjoy the snow Valium!

Tiredmumno1 · 02/02/2012 20:26

Nooooo we don't want to enjoy the snow aggghhhhhh Grin

We will be willing to pass it to you if you want it Grin

Tiredmumno1 · 02/02/2012 20:29

Cheerful I am glad it hasn't led to misunderstood falling out, talking is good, as Gomummy says she is lucky to have a friend like you Smile

gomummygo · 03/02/2012 14:06

Ha Tiredmum, I'd never even notice it. We have several feet of it and it's basically nonstop these days, a very snowy winter here. But I'm happy with it as it means that it has not been brutally cold. Snow we can manage.

I thought Tea liked it though, maybe it would be easier for you to just send it over to her? Grin

Tiredmumno1 · 03/02/2012 14:39

Good idea Gomummy, tea is only about half hour drive away, I shall shovel it up and drop it in when we visit MIL Grin

I just wish it wasn't so cold Sad

Right I'll be back got to go get the boys Smile

Teaandcakeplease · 03/02/2012 17:28

Ahhh hmmm no snow thanks Tiredmum Wink

We may get some this weekend possibly but it won't be much, from what I can see on the BBC website.

Still haven't thought about tea for the kids yet Feeling sluggish and lazy but I ought to finish washing up and stack the dishwasher.

gomummygo · 03/02/2012 17:50

Half an hour's drive apart! Envy!

Have been reading on here as well as in the news that it is much colder than usual where you are?
