Kids recently had a week off - half term. They were back this week then, guess what - teacher training day. Seriously, what I want to know is this: is there ANY other job in the country where you get:

  • 13 paid weeks holiday a year
  • Good pay
  • Good pension (believe me, you do compared to people who do proper jobs in private sector - if you dont believe me, try it)
  • And yet you still need these extra days to do some training. Training for what, exactly? Seriously, for what???? And how am I, as a parent, supposed to factor childcare in here.
  • Oh, and you still do nothing but moan about pay, pensions etc
  • Rant over

Biscuit

Here you go love.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 04/11/2011 22:57

Yup.

They are all lazy tweedles with easy jobs.

I wish I had life so easy.

Tortington · 04/11/2011 22:57

you do it then if its so fabulous.

i do agree that extra training days are uneccesary

slavetofilofax · 04/11/2011 22:57

Nice try Smile

Cathycomehome · 04/11/2011 22:58

Sorry. Really sorry. I feel so bad. Honest.

belledechocchipcookie · 04/11/2011 22:58

My best friend is a teacher. She goes into the school during the holidays and works at home every night, not to mention the amount of stress she's under by trying to manage a class of ill behaved, ill mannared children (and their parents!). She earns every penny of her salary. UABU. Why don't you try being a teacher if you think it's so cushy?

tethersend · 04/11/2011 22:59

13 weeks are unpaid.

Training days were taken off holidays, not teaching days.

And they are probably making it up- there is no training day, they just want to make your life difficult. I would.

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 04/11/2011 23:00

Here. My first Biscuit

Do you not get notice to plan your childcare?

Isn't their pay pro-rata over the year?

So not only do they get practically bugger all, as Belle has pointed out they also work during their 'holidays'

TheFallenMadonna · 04/11/2011 23:00

Laughing all the way to the bank...

mholdall · 04/11/2011 23:00

I just KNEW I would get sob stories. What a load of total rubbish. MOST jobs these days are hard. Yet most jobs arent so ridiculously cushioned from the harsh realities of real life.

nancy75 · 04/11/2011 23:00

you seem to have forgotten that they have to put up with 30odd kids every day - if I had to do that I would want more than 13 weeks off.

JamieComeHome · 04/11/2011 23:00
ninah · 04/11/2011 23:01

training days aren't extra they are taken out of school hols
school isn't childcare

Cathycomehome · 04/11/2011 23:01

Ahem, OP - why not join us in this cushty old lark then?

mholdall · 04/11/2011 23:01

Yes, TRAINING FOR WHAT??? Please, somebody tell me.

OP posts:
slavetofilofax · 04/11/2011 23:01

Anyway, why would anyone not want the people who educate their children to be well trained?

Vampirecella · 04/11/2011 23:01

Can I be the first to point out to the OP that school is not childcare...?

I agree with all the above but i wouldn't do it for a million a year. i'd rather be a sewer rat killer than have to spend 6 hours a day with 30 other people's children.

I would rather like the 13 weeks holiday a year though.

ninah · 04/11/2011 23:02

you can be the second, vc

Vampirecella · 04/11/2011 23:02

Training to teach your children maybe?. I dunno. Just a crazy thought....
