Kids recently had a week off - half term. They were back this week then, guess what - teacher training day. Seriously, what I want to know is this: is there ANY other job in the country where you get:

  • 13 paid weeks holiday a year
  • Good pay
  • Good pension (believe me, you do compared to people who do proper jobs in private sector - if you dont believe me, try it)
  • And yet you still need these extra days to do some training. Training for what, exactly? Seriously, for what???? And how am I, as a parent, supposed to factor childcare in here.
  • Oh, and you still do nothing but moan about pay, pensions etc
  • Rant over
OP posts:

Martyrs often get bloody. Blood is often imvolved

libelulle · 04/11/2011 23:31

so is your pgce application in the post then?

why not?

SpangledPandemonium · 04/11/2011 23:32

Why are they all the same, every last one of them? Homogeneous cloned teachy bastards

Why are people agreeing? But not with me? Bastards

JamieComeHome · 04/11/2011 23:32

ninah you have my sympathy, we are due for an inspection so we are on 'brown envelope'/scary phonecall alert......

I wish they'd just come and get it over with.........

TuftyFinch · 04/11/2011 23:33

ilovesooty maybe we need to shout louder? Or, randomly guess job and necessary CPD?

My guess. Owns a pet shop. CPD involves new cat shampoo?

tethersend was Father Christmas a martyr too?

tethersend · 04/11/2011 23:33

The Wickerman should never have been remade.

I still find it hard to talk about.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 04/11/2011 23:33

I did have a "proper job" once, working in an office doing office things. I didn't enjoy it, got very bored.

Plus the holidays were rubbish.

IHeartKingThistle · 04/11/2011 23:34

Valpollicella I think I love you.

And I second your sentiment.

ninah · 04/11/2011 23:34

oh good luck nst
I wish they'd just arrive, you know. It's the lead time that's a pita.

ouryve · 04/11/2011 23:34

Don't worry, my kids have well and truly drained what's left of my intellect. The OP did seem to think that teaching was an easy cop out for the intellectually less than perfect, though.

SpangledPandemonium · 04/11/2011 23:34

I am not sure why they bother remaking any of them. In fact, I would ask are there any remakes that should have been remade?

TuftyFinch · 04/11/2011 23:34

valpollicalla Good idea. To Kill a Mockingbird.

ReindeerBollocks · 04/11/2011 23:34

ILT - do you share my feeling that the OP doesn't have a job that requires CPD?

Shame really, with her being so bright and all Hmm.

Teacher bashing needs to stop, these teachers are providing our DC with an education and helping them become the next working generation. Something to be hugely thankful and appreciative for, if you ask me.

ouryve · 04/11/2011 23:34

And after half a bottle of Wine I'm very chilled, tyvm.

ninah · 04/11/2011 23:34

have you seen it tethers? I love the original

tethersend · 04/11/2011 23:35

Yes, Father Christmas was a martyr too.

You should have seen the bloody footsteps all over the hearth last year. It was carnage.

TuftyFinch · 04/11/2011 23:35

Herbie Rides Again

JamieComeHome · 04/11/2011 23:36

The Italian Job. Not so much of a remake as a homage. But still. Travesty

ilovesooty · 04/11/2011 23:36

And Father Christmas is bloody idle. After all he only works one day a year.

TuftyFinch · 04/11/2011 23:36

So should I leave some knives out? Wooden bit of pointy wood? I'm unsure of the protocol. Do I need a training day?

neverputasockinatoaster · 04/11/2011 23:36

Footloose should never have been remade. I've not seen the remake but I can imagine.......
