Kids recently had a week off - half term. They were back this week then, guess what - teacher training day. Seriously, what I want to know is this: is there ANY other job in the country where you get:

  • 13 paid weeks holiday a year
  • Good pay
  • Good pension (believe me, you do compared to people who do proper jobs in private sector - if you dont believe me, try it)
  • And yet you still need these extra days to do some training. Training for what, exactly? Seriously, for what???? And how am I, as a parent, supposed to factor childcare in here.
  • Oh, and you still do nothing but moan about pay, pensions etc
  • Rant over

Ach well. I got baited for a while there, but now I'm going to sit back and enjoy my dossy easy life job, and pity the OP who has to work for a living. Wink

Valpollicella (bit pissed and can't be arsed to scroll up - again-and remember spelling.

Fanfuckingtastic :)

ilovesooty · 04/11/2011 23:26

So do you do any CPD in your job, OP?

ouryve · 04/11/2011 23:27

The holidays are no great shakes, by the way - you can't do everything because all the kids are off school and everywhere is packed. Sod being able to take a few quiet days off mid term. I'm a former teacher, but a full time carer to the sort of kids who would give most teachers the willies, these days and if DH gets a day off with no agenda, we can go places, alone together, and it's really quiet and we can enjoy it.

Munkiii · 04/11/2011 23:27

The fact that teachers are coming on here and feeling they have to justify themselves to somebody who clearly has absolutely no respect for their profession is absolutely beyond belief.

And OP you should be grateful that there are people who care enough about their jobs, despite the fact they have to put up with this sort of attitude day in and day out, that they will still get up every morning and give their pupils their all.

Cathycomehome · 04/11/2011 23:27

Do you think that JamieComeHome is anything to do with my user name? Just that mine came from a film, like, and I'm not sure where that one came from?

ouryve · 04/11/2011 23:27

Jamie - best CSE to have ;)

Pandygirl · 04/11/2011 23:28

Non teachers - if you think the easy hours are worth the poor pay and nightmare job - change career.
Teachers - if you think that people in the private sector are better off with longer hours but better pay then apply for their jobs.

SpangledPandemonium · 04/11/2011 23:28

Come and lie on the couch and tell us about your bad teacher experience OP

tethersend · 04/11/2011 23:28

"If you are looking for an intellect comp you have come to the wrong place."

Well, to be fair, she has a point there.

TuftyFinch · 04/11/2011 23:28

mholdall I'll ask again-WHAT PROPER JOB DO YOU DO?

mholdall · 04/11/2011 23:29

Munkii - what are you on about put up with this attitude day in day out. What are teachers such bloody martyrs? Why are people such martyrs on their behalf. Jesus.

OP posts:
tethersend · 04/11/2011 23:29

Jesus was a Martyr.

ilovesooty · 04/11/2011 23:29

I keep asking about her CPD too. She hasn't answered that either.

ninah · 04/11/2011 23:29

I'm on here cos we have ofsted next week munkii and I'm stressed but too tired to do effective work. I'll be at school tom and maybe sun though. It's given me a laugh tho, thanks for that op

JamieComeHome · 04/11/2011 23:30

Cathy - I have been several types of Jamie. This one was a nod to the film - I chose it after I'd had another name for a while.

LauraIngallsWilder · 04/11/2011 23:30

Simpson - I was thinking that!
Teachers surely need at least one training day per year on "how to deal with very annoying parents"
OP - are you equally rude and offensive to your childrens teachers as well? You sound delighful Hmm
