Katie on CBeebies

BootyMum · 29/07/2011 15:20

I have a 2 year old and a 6 month old. We spend far too much of our days with CBeebies on, either watching a particular show or it just being on in the background

Have come to realise over a period of time that I cannot bear the presenter Katie. My God she is irritating with her OTT fake cheeriness/wackiness, smug smile and patronising manner. Her "I can cook" song with it's "slippy dippy soap" makes me want to ram said soap in her face!

I read another poster describing her as being like the school's head girl gurning at you from the corner of your living room. Absolutely.

I obviously have no life because this is what is getting my goat this Friday afternoon.

You may be right about Auntie Mabel actually, now that you say it, I can see it! Shock Grin

pictish · 29/07/2011 23:48

My passion for Mr Bloom has been scorned before, and by a few.
I don't care. I fucking would.

oldsilver · 29/07/2011 23:49

Katie - aaarrrrrggghhh. The comment in our house is "oh no she's getting her guitar out - run for the hills". And will she just sort her hair out. Her over exuberence is just so false.

Sid is most definitely gorgeous - was disappointed though when DS was involved in the spring song this year (I was parent helper) there were no presenters involved Shock I got new clothes and everything - oh and DS did too!

iceandsliceplease · 29/07/2011 23:50

oh, and I don't think it's been mentioned on here yet, but BIG COOK LITTLE FUCKING COOK

There are no words.

pictish · 29/07/2011 23:54

That lad that presents Kerwhizz.

Angry
iceandsliceplease · 29/07/2011 23:56

aaarrrrrghghggghghhhh! Kerwhizz!

pictish · 29/07/2011 23:58

Sarah Janes's eye make up on Mighy Mites.

Why must she look so grubby?

oldsilver · 29/07/2011 23:58

He's in Grandpa in my pocket too - as is Mr Pissing Maker...

AnyFuleKno · 29/07/2011 23:59

I wish I hadn't started reading this thread. I've just googled pui and literally one of the first results is a picture of her topless.

iceandsliceplease · 29/07/2011 23:59

oldsilver, I would have been gutted! Not so much about Sid, but I have a reluctant crush on Andy. Blush

berylmuspratt · 30/07/2011 00:02

I really don't like her, so patronising. My MIL thinks she is great, however, she is also so patronising ......

RobynLou · 30/07/2011 00:11

I won't hear anything bad said about auntie mabel, anyone who can get away with a kids show called 'useful holes' and sing a song with the same title is a genius imo!

love chris and pui, was v disappointed when they were replaced with alex and ceri.

Dexifehatz · 30/07/2011 00:17

Mighty Mites does my head in! I think Sarah Jane's getting a bit old for all this...

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 30/07/2011 00:18

Have you seen the bizarre bit between shows where Katie is dressed as an onion? she's dancing around and the roots of the 'onion' are trailing between her legs like farking pubic hair! Once you notice it you just can't keep your eyes off it. Shock

StrikeUpTheBand · 30/07/2011 00:24

I love a good CBeebies thread I do because I have no life Grin

I think Cerrie and Alex are OK even if they were a bit wooden at first. None of us noticed anything different about Cerrie for about a week (and DS didn't notice for much longer - about a month I think). Katie is OK too although a bit too energetic sometimes I think! Sid and Andy remind me of your DC's daft uncles who come around, get them all fired up, fill them full of sugar and then leave Grin. Chris and Pui were sadly missed in this house when they left and DS then was overjoyed when he saw a trailer for Show Me Show Me (he still loves them at 4).

maighdlin · 30/07/2011 00:59

what did parents do before cbeebies? gift from the gods. our favourites are something special show me show me come outside and third and bird (i love it! when i was a child i had pretend i live in a musical days) some of the other stuff is fine and DD loves in the night garden and waybaloo but they annoy me esp in the night garden with all the farting things (why do they all fart all the time???) waybaloo and in the night garden are like baby valium, they could be going mental and within 2 minutes are relaxed and glued to it. watched might mites recently who the hell is that woman??? taxi for mrs mutton....

royaljelly · 30/07/2011 01:17

Get sky the you can at least cycle the more annoying hosts whilst recorcding Judge Judy!

MrsWembley · 30/07/2011 02:14

iceandslice - Oooh, I'd forgotten about them... especially the big one. Talk about your dilated pupils, have you seen him stare? Definitely doing some sort of illegal substance. I just feel sorry for the little guy, whom I suspect to be actually far taller in RLWink

LotteryWinnersOnAcid · 30/07/2011 02:30

Auntie Mabel is from Eastenders - Jane and Christian's mum. Can't see her as anything else, although love Pippin despite being slightly jealous that my dogs are demons compared to her.

MrsChemist · 30/07/2011 04:43

Hanging, once Andy and Akex were dancing about dressed as vegetables and Andy must have been wearing short shorts because you couldn't see them. He looked like he was naked under the carrot costume.

ShiverMeWhiskers · 30/07/2011 05:22

My DH always says Nisha looks like a strange old bag lady, which I didn't understand to begin with until he explained it was to do with her having the pandas strapped to the bike reminding him of a bag lady carrying round old stuffed toys...... But I do like her rather ott cheeriness!

We too love Chris, Pui and Justin. I think the only reason it took Alex and Cerrie so long to grow on me was that Chris and Pui were just soooo good anyone who followed would seem ropey by comparison.

Actually, I think I quite like all the presenters, i must be mellowing....

The thing that annoyed me most about Cbeebies recently was that they made that beautiful autumn song (last year, year before, I forget) with the apple picking and picnic and then follwed it with that awful winter one that looked as if it had been thrown together last thing on a Friday afternoon. Bluergh!

howabout · 30/07/2011 05:59

I'm only having DD3 so I can watch cbeebies for another 5 years or so with impunity. I already have a set of In the Night Garden characters on my Santa list.

Good to know I'm not the only one with a thing for Sid. Do you prefer his hair as it is now or shaved as it used to be?

ZonkedOut · 30/07/2011 06:04

I find Alex, Cerrie and Katie have fake smiles - rictus grins as someone said earlier. The Kerwhizitor is worse, he makes me cringe. I like Sid and Andy, they seem more normal. Justin seems like he'd be lovely irl. I like Chris and Pui and Nina too, though I can't help thinking Nina and the Neurons would be a much better show without the neurons. Mr Bloom smirks all the time.

AnyFuleKno · 30/07/2011 09:10

That winter song was fucking shit, it's true. It was just Sid and Justin dancing on a pavement, followed by some craply executed blue screen of flying snowmen of which the costumes looked liked they'd been made by throwing wet toilet paper at them.

AnotherJaffaCake · 30/07/2011 09:50

howabout - you're definitely not alone having a thing about Sid - he's gorgeous. Love the hair right now. Oops, DH about to see this post :o.
