Katie on CBeebies

BootyMum · 29/07/2011 15:20

I have a 2 year old and a 6 month old. We spend far too much of our days with CBeebies on, either watching a particular show or it just being on in the background

Have come to realise over a period of time that I cannot bear the presenter Katie. My God she is irritating with her OTT fake cheeriness/wackiness, smug smile and patronising manner. Her "I can cook" song with it's "slippy dippy soap" makes me want to ram said soap in her face!

I read another poster describing her as being like the school's head girl gurning at you from the corner of your living room. Absolutely.

I obviously have no life because this is what is getting my goat this Friday afternoon.

We love Ceri and Alex. If either of mine have noticed Ceri's arm then they haven't mentioned it to me - they like her for who she is - a nice kind person, who is also a mum and a lovely presenter on Cbeebies. I completely agree with MightyQuim.

NoobytheWaspSlayer · 29/07/2011 18:49

...and another pondering... Do any of the female presenters have children? Do you think that makes a difference? Especially in the way they talk to kids? Did you talk differently to children before and after you had them?

Glitterknickaz · 29/07/2011 18:51

See.... I can't stand Cerrie. Nothing to do with the way she looks though.
I think Pui and Cerrie do have kids, not sure about Katie.

Yes, preference for male or female presenters is sorta interesting...

I personally quite like Cerri's presenting style but really love Sid and Andy. They just seem so relaxed and natural, particularly when they are playing the fools in their numbers songs.

But Katie seems insincere and tense, somewhat stage schooley... And this is what sets my teeth on edge.

PirateDinosaur · 29/07/2011 18:55

Cerrie has a daughter, as does Alex (not that you asked about him)

2shoes · 29/07/2011 18:56

I can't abide Katie.
reported the shite post, wtf is up with mn at the moment, is it cos of the school holidays.

MrsChemist · 29/07/2011 18:56

I love Pui, Cerrie and Nina. Nisha and Katie just seem a bit fake with their over-exuberance.

Wasn't Pui due another baby in July?

SearchSquad · 29/07/2011 18:57

Don't mind Katie... But Nisha surely is the worst of the lot.

I like Cerie, Andy & Sid. And why doesn't Justin ever present? My DS adores him!

5inthebed · 29/07/2011 18:58

Haven't watched Cbeebies in a while, but I disliked Alex, his face just didn't move!

SFR, were you creeped out just now as well when Warwick Davis was on, because he has dwarfism?

NoobytheWaspSlayer · 29/07/2011 19:00

thats true piratedinosaur I didn't - I should have been non-gender specific.

2shoes · 29/07/2011 19:00

pui is funny I used to dislike her but she has grown on me,(why oh why do I have to still watch this stuff)

mumblejumble · 29/07/2011 19:01

Can's stand Misha, Kate is tolerable though.
SpecialFriedrice, you are a twat

ouryve · 29/07/2011 19:02

Specialfriedrice, I'm not even going to waste a biscuit on you.

My kids have never paid all that much attention to Cerrie's arm, even though they will freely point out to me that I have a zit on my nose, but I know DS1 has noticed it. He was messing about sticking his arm in something that it was likely to get stuck in. I warned him of the likely outcome and that if it happened, we'd likely have to take him to hospital to get it cut off (meaning the object of course). He took it as meaning his arm and asked "What? Like Cerrie's?" He was totally matter of fact about it and I used that opportunity to explain to him that that's how Cerrie was born and he went along on his merry way, played with something less dangerous and never said another word about it.

Specialfriedrice, I do hope you're not bringing your children up to be as nasty as you.

DirtyMartini · 29/07/2011 19:03

Cerrie's baby was really new when she got the CBeebies job apparently. And she has been a single mum all along. That always impresses me, as I found it was such a massive change becoming a mum, never mind doing it solo (respect) whilst also starting a brand new job (double respect) that exposes you to the scrutiny of an entire nation of people who are often uncomfortable with or just simply nasty about disability (triple respect).

SpecialFriedRice: Angry

timetoask · 29/07/2011 19:04

We like Katie, she seems really nice, but oh goodness cannot stand the sight of the woman from same smile, she is so over the top, really fake, I think she is the only presenter that makes me want to switch off

2shoes · 29/07/2011 19:05

they are all a bit ott though, but kids seem to like them

kickingking · 29/07/2011 19:06

I dislike Katie quite intensely. She reminds me of the type of girls who bullied people at my all girls high school.

I don't mind Cerrie (sp?). I quite like Nina. I cannot stand Sarah Jane Honeywell - bunches, fgs! She must be pushing forty!

I would agree that I tend to prefer male presenters - with the notable excpetion of Justin Fletcher

pinkytheshrinky · 29/07/2011 19:09

Specialfriedrice - crikey you are a bit of an asshole aren't you? Your poor kids, you sound like such a peasant.

Anyway, love Cerrie and all the guys including Chris with Pui on Show me Show me - that is def the favourite in our house. I have to agree that Katie makes my teeth itch and Nisha is growing on me - her slightly out of tune singing makes me a cross but is still slightly better than the dreaded Katie. Also when they did the Xmas pant Katie had boots on that would not have gone amiss on a street hooker - that is when the rot set in for me.

kickingking · 29/07/2011 19:09

I have just realised somebody was banging on about Cerrie's arm - oh get a grip! What the hell has that got to do with whether you like her as a presenter or not?

pinkytheshrinky · 29/07/2011 19:11

Oh and love Nina and Sarah Jane makes me homicidal (fucking Mighty Mites is wrong on so many levels)

Love the Fletcher too - he is the King

pinkthechaffinch · 29/07/2011 19:12

someone needs to point out to Nisha that it's not '3 little pandas sat in a row' but '3 little pandas sitting in a row' Grin

Glitterknickaz · 29/07/2011 19:13

Sid and Andy are the only presenters I don't find incredibly patronising.

peeriebear · 29/07/2011 19:17

LOVE Sid and Andy, I'd love to go down the pub with them :o And Pui is my favourite female presenter. Sarah Jane needs to get a proper hairstyle, and grow older a bit more gracefully :)
